God allowed the Devil to intervene with us (Adam and Eve symbolize as us humans spiritually speaking) at the Garden of Eden. Because God has a plan for us. Though we have chosen what the Devils offered to us and disobeyed God.

I really don't understand.......you mean God created Devil to misguide us (innocent human beings).......and then punish us for not obeying him.......should I think that, God was bored and wanted some entertainment........are we like a movie or TV serial for God, so confusing....

Where in the Bible can I find the story of god allowing the devil to intervene with Adam and Eve? I must be a bit dense because I can not find this aspect of the story.

In fact when ALLAH create the humans(ADAM & EVE) ALLAH order to all angles for respect of human all the angels accept ALLAH's order except DEVIL, just for the reason he said to ALLAH you make them from mud and water while you mad us from fire we are better than humans. by refusing order of ALLAH he called by devil before of this he was the teacher of angels....

If at that very moment when devil disobeyed, had ALLAH destroyed him to ashes, no sin would had born in this world....Even today, God/ALLAH can clean this world from all the sin and devilish happening, but he does not... and that is why today people are not even believing in God....no miracles are happening to prove existence of almighty and people are going deeper and deeper in sin and evil. This all confuses me a lot.

But I still feel that this is injustice to innocent people. We are very simple people and don't have power like Allah to always choose right and evil power like devil save ourselves even after doing sins.......why should human become target in competition between God and Devil.....after all we have to face the hell, we will be burnt alive.......I feel so scared to thinking about it.

ALLAH didn't destroy devil, because and let him to do what ever devil wants, and make hell and paradise for the peoples, and give authority to humans and chose hell or paradise also tell that if you follow the right path shows through the messengers will be rewarded by paradise and will send to hell those who will not follow the right path.......... and at the end ALLAH will destroy devil, yeah its true that ALLAH let devil to do what ever he wants but on other side ALLAH sends angels with those peoples who following the right path......

It is an allegory; a story, poem, or picture which can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically a moral or political one: Pilgrim’s Progress is an allegory of the spiritual journey late Middle English: from Old French allegorie, via Latin from Greek allegoria, from allos 'other' + -agoria 'speaking' Oxford English Dictionary, the definitive guide to the English Language all the best urban

If that be the case then how much of the rest of Genesis and the Old Testament is also allegory? How do we differentiate between history and allegory? What is the hidden meaning in this story?

No, it certainly happened and it is not mere allegory - please read up some creationist literature and revise your thinking on this, Urban - my latest reading is "Another Look at Mature Creation" by Dr P.G.Nelson (Faith&Thought, or Journal of the Philosophical Society of Great Britain, October 2010 No 49, viewable online at www.biblicalstudies.org.uk/pdf/nelson/cration_nelson.pdf). There is less sense now than there ever was in compromising biblical truth to fit in with what's fashionably purveyed as modern science.

Hello Chiang_Mai_boy........this topic is very delicate and confusing. There are so many things that I don't understand too.It is said that all that happens in this world is happening with the wish of God. Nothing can happen without his permission.....if this is so, then all bad people are also doing things as per God's wish........how is it possible. Some may say that God gives you two ways and you have to choose the right one, but if I choose wrong, then that was also written already that I will choose wrong path. If it was already written, then I am not guilty, the one who wrote it in my destiny is guilty. I am really confused, though I have full faith in God almighty, but I have no way to convince or prove the same to atheists. I think only direct visible miracles from God can do this.........

I would not worry about it as it is only a story. It never actually happened so you can write into the story anything you wish and your version will be as valid as any other version

What make you so sure that It never actually happened?

We have to remember that satan and devil are not names. Satan means opposer and devil means slanderer. So in the garden of Eden someone like a puppeteer and a ventriloquist manipulated the snake so that it communicated with Eve. Because of opposing and slandering Jehovah God this invisible creature (rebellious angel) behind the scene came to be called Satan the Devil. Genesis 3:15 shows a lot more to the story. Genesis 3:15 King James Version (KJV) 15And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

So in the garden of Eden someone like a puppeteer and a ventriloquist manipulated the snake so that it communicated with Eve If this is the case why does the Bible not say so? If the poor snake was manipulated or possessed why then did god punish him?

Have you ever seen a snake that could talk? It was an invisible spirit creature, Satan the devil, that controlled it so that it would talk, much like a puppeteer maneuvers a puppet. Genesis 3:14-15 Young's Literal Translation (YLT) 14And Jehovah God saith unto the serpent, `Because thou hast done this, cursed [art] thou above all the cattle, and above every beast of the field: on thy belly dost thou go, and dust thou dost eat, all days of thy life; 15and enmity I put between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; he doth bruise thee -- the head, and thou dost bruise him -- the heel.' Please explain how the serpent was punished?

Revelation 12:9 Young's Literal Translation (YLT) 9and the great dragon was cast forth -- the old serpent, who is called `Devil,' and `the Adversary,' who is leading astray the whole world -- he was cast forth to the earth, and his messengers were cast forth with him. It seems that the curse is really against the instigator, Satan the Devil, and what would eventually happen to him.

The Holy Quran 7:20 says that Then Satan whispered to them, but there is no details on how the Devil got in there, you can read Chapters 39,40 and 41 in the Gospel of Barnabas, don't limit your search to the Bible. Get a copy of the Gospel of Barnabas at: http://www.barnabas.net/chapter_index.htm

This is just a theory, but maybe Christians call the Eden serpent the devil because of Revelation 12:9 "The great dragon was hurled down - that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray.
