I don't see why not, I started watching the Simpsons when I was nine years old. And yeah, there was some references for adults, but my brain just ignored them, it just focused attention in other stuff. (For example the Bobo Bear episode was my favourite). Later on when I was like 20 I watched again some old episodes and I surprised myself to find references that I didn't catch when I was a kid, for example, that the episode I mentioned before was based on Citizen Kane and so on.
Maybe it would help if you say examples of what you consider innapropiate about the Simpsons.

Oh I thought you were talking about the TV show. I didn't like the movie much. And I don't like the new episodes, I think they totally missed the point. The old episodes were the perfect measure of sarcasm + criticising society and a pinch of absurdity. Now they are 99% absurdity. Just like Family Guy.

Simpson's like most cartoons are automatically expected to be for children. But cartoons can be for adults, now depending on the age of a child, I don't see anything wrong with the Simpsons, the only iffy thing about it is the Itchy and Scratchy snippets which show random violence, it is Tom and Jerry to the extreme. I think the movie was fine, it is similar to the episodes and like the episodes if you feel that the child in question likes them and can enjoy them why not. A while back they showed a documentary about some Disney cartoons and were explaining how they will have a joke played in two ways one innocent which the children get and another for the adults which they children don't understand.

Hello,
I don't think the Simpsons TV show is good for children. The TV show is trashy and disgusting. I think the movie is horrible for children. I don't like the Simpsons at all. We weren't allowed to watch the Simpsons as children. The Simpsons are absolutely terrible!

my kids do not watch your family Simpson.
they often watch Tom and Jerry and drutgi but children do not just watch and do not detect it on TV.
Yet this is not a nice kid and I do not like.
nice day!

I do not see why not actually. I have been watching simpsons for a long time. I mean some people may have different opinions, but it is better than family guy and south park. I let my sons watch simpsons, but they also watch spongebob and educational shows as well.
I mean I see nothing bad about the simpsons at all, there will be some cartoons where there is a lot happening and you may see a butt or something, but all in all it is better to let them watch that than south park and family guy those are adult cartoons. Basically it tells us that there are peoople out there that act like bart and that are smart like lisa and caring like marge. In another note dumb like homer lol. I love them, but it is up to you if you want them to watch it though everyone has different views.
You do not want to censor your kids forever.

The Simpsons is not a movie, it's a tv show to start with. I've never seen censorship either, I grew up on the show so I don't see the harm of having my eight year old watch it. In the early years you should be using slow cartoons and things made for children for proper brain development as it is.
