I usually don't listen to the news. I get too upset. Well, recently I have tried to start listening to the news again. Yesterday there was an accident with a truck that looked like my exes. He and i are still friends and i just couldn't handle it if something happened to him like that. He has a and has black outs when he doesn't eat right. He is the type of person that will finish whatever he is doing and then go eat. My granddaughter is driving now too and she drives too fast. EVERYDAY there is an accident nearby or in town. Sometimes more than one. Today there was a guy in Hollywood, California walking down the middle of the street shooting people. In Seattle a car crashed into a crowd of people. Hit 6 people. Also in Seattle a man trying to rob a Subway with a toy gun. It is madness! Why am I watching this? Do you listen to the news? Does it upset you?

I do listen to the news occasionally, sometimes I get sick of hearing the same things over and over again. If it is about and accident or a fire, I listen to see if I know of the person/person's. Hopefully it is know one we know. I like to keep up more with the national news. But, that too can be very stressful at times. Sometimes I think this country is going backwards. There is so much violence, killings, kidnappings, rapes, etc., going on. It would be so nice if it would all stop. But, I don't see that happening anytime to soon in this country or any other country for that matter.

hi a lot of it here in the US is because so many people are out of work, and broke, when this happens so many get desperate that otherwise wou ld not ever have done anything wrong. we need to get people working again.

I think we are losing our humanity. I was listening to a news channel yesterday and they had five stories they kept repeating over and over. I finally tuned it out.

I agree with you Hatley. But, I don't think just jobs are going to change the morals, and bad things that have been getting worse over the years.

Personally anymore, it is unreal what people think and try to do. I think the main problem is even though there are people that are saying that the Economy is getting better there are still hundreds of thousands who are unemployed, homeless, etc. Many due to the economy and no where else to turn. People really needing help cannot get it so they turn to other methods, and sometimes their stupidity ends up costing them their life, or time they could be improving who they really need to be.

There's an appropriate definition of the "News" I'd like to share...Where the Anchor says "Good Evening",then goes on to tell You why it's not... I tend not to watch for this reason, but some things stick out or remind you of what's going on in the world..I was visiting in Virginia at the time of the 2007 Virginia Tech Massacre, and I'm reading now of a Victim of another recent shooting there being buried...

It does upset me and I go through spurts of watching. I usually stick to the local news but it is just as bad as any other most of the time. There is always something terrible on there and if I watch every day for long periods of time, it effects my mood big time.

Most of the time I do not listen to the news. I am sorry that this is upsetting you, it would bother me as well. I mostly just like to know about the weather.

Yes, the news does upset me. Sometimes I think that the reporters are specifically briefed to report such horrifying news just to grab more eyeballs. Never do I come across a good news or an inspirational report and a report of extraordinary achievement…as if all that is nothing to highlight about. I remember once I had read a report from the psychological point of view which said that all that depressing news on newspapers, TV, radio…everywhere, has a negative influence on the entire psyche of a nation, inspiring more and more people to take to crime. Instead, if more good news is exposed to the people, it inspires them to follow suit and do more good for others. Sometimes I wonder why there is no such national policy… in the name of freedom of press we are actually feeding demoralizing news to our people, making murder, mayhem, rape all look so commonplace and normal part of daily existence.

I think it is making us cold and numb to such things. Making it all commonplace. And, i guess, this is what i am trying to avoid.

There are so many negative news in the newspapers, TV, internet. Besides those natural disasters, such as earthquakes, floods, sandstorms, the man made bad news, such as traffic accidents, murders, let us feel worse. Sometimes we feel tired of all these and don't want to see them, hear them. But they are there indeed, no matter we read news or not. Sometimes i feel this world is going crazy. Both the environment and human minds. There are so many people who get too much pressure and become insane, they can go to the street to shot others without any reason. There are more gap between the rich and the poor. And the important thing is the rich are not getting their fortune by justice means, therefore, there are more social inequality. Therefore, there are more crazy people. Well, what can we do with all these. I think we all need to have some faith. Only those with faith in their hearts can keep a peace in this crazy world.

Yesssssssssss, Hi celticeagle, I am just like you. The news does affect me deeply. I had to stop watching it too. My thing was Nancy Grace and all the missing and molested chidren. I don't even look at it now. Joyce Meyers did a message on thoughts and I got into that. And it made a lot of sense. The things that you see and hear are what you think of, it's what you are putting into your thoughts. Now I have to wean mysef from these Sy-Fy, Scary movies. If it ain't one thing it's another.

I like Dr. Drew which comes on before Nancy. He is on the Penn State scandal right now. I watched him alot during the Casey Anthony trial. Got addicted to it. I just can't handle any more depressing stuff. Need to quit watching.

Yes, i always watch the news even if they are sometimes so morbid and gruesome. That way i am informed where it happened because maybe the killer being hunted might be near our place or the disease on the news is near our place.
