I know all laptop has battery and I know laptop battery is the first problem in term of wear and tear. Right now my battery has only 2% life efficiency. Now that I'm planning to buy a new laptop. I'm thinking since I open my laptop 15 hours a day. Why not remove the battery and just plug my laptop straight to the socket. Now just wondering if its advisable or not? To remove the battery while using it? Is it even safe? Or will my laptop will run if I do that?

Hi!
There are ways you need to follow in order to extend your laptop battery lifespan, do remember, when you are using your laptop, do not charge your battery, you should only charge it when your laptop is not in use, the logic of this is because when you use your computer, you are using the electricity supply from your battery and if you charge it at the same time, you battery will release electricity and being charged at the same time, so, that will damage and shorten it lifespan, so, if you want to use the battery, you should stop charging, or else, you can just take out the battery and use the electricity directly from the socket. That will definitely save your battery and prolong it lifespan. Hope this information can help.

My laptop is running for 15 hours a day. So I have no choice but to constantly charge my laptop. this is the only way to keep my laptop running for 15 hours.
..
About the socket. that's the idea but same time I'm worried. I don't know if its going to work or not. Is laptop design to run without battery? And only run directly using powercord? that's the question that I want to be answered. Because user manual has no help at all.

I did it also. right now my laptop is running without any battery but directly to the socket and I'm happy that its really works. lols. If only I know that I have done that five years ago. lols. But I guess that's I learn it too late I still can implement it in my new laptop.

This is also the case of my old laptop, the battery has been already deteriorated and it will just hold a charge for less than a minute so in order for me to continue working at home I decided to plug it directly to the outlet. This is not advisable of course because a laptop is made to run from a battery and not directly to the outlet although you are using a power adapter I think this is nonsense to use a laptop that is plugged in directly to the power outlet since the primary objective of having a laptop is mobility. If it safe or it will run, the answer to that is yes since it has been 3 years ago since my old laptop lost its battery and I already bought a new desktop since I need to use a computer at home in long hours. The one using that laptop now is my 6 year old daughter for games like plants vs zombie and other minor games. I do hope that answers your question.... :D

Actually its advisable. I don't know why you think its not advisable but all of the computer store and repair shops that I ask told me to remove the battery and plug the laptop directly to the socket to make the battery lifespan longer. And since its advise by all I think that's only shows that is advisable.

yes it's safe. It's actually a good idea and it makes your battery last longer for when you need it. When your battery is constantly charging it's life gets shorter. Take the battery out so it's not being used at all and then it will last longer because it's not being used at all.

I already did removed my laptop battery and try to use my laptop without battery on it and so far my laptop is working fine. Although I don't know if its really going to make a difference if I remove the battery as my concern right is that the back of my laptop where the battery is is open and expose.

Don't bother with a battery if you use your laptop on the mains. I haven't had a battery in mine for years! I just don't do mobile computing, so don't ever need it. Batteries are expensive. Save yourself some money!

I agree. I already removed the battery and plug it directly. I also bought new laptop and I'm planning to do the same to preserve the lifespan of my new laptop battery. I'm hoping that I can preserve my laptop battery so that when its time to use it as mobile computer I'm confident that my battery going to work long hours.

I have also some laptop battery problems especially when I play games on my laptop. I am also browsing the web while my laptop is still plugging in. I think battery problem on laptop is very common to all because of some of the leisure and benefits, a user can get in using laptop. I do hope my laptop battery will last long. My laptop is very significant to me.

So did you try to remove your laptop battery? I'm happy that now I do use my laptop without any battery and I'm happy that my laptop is just working fine without any problem. at first I thought I will going to have difficulty or my laptop will not going to work. But I'm surprise that it can run without any battery.

As far as I know, it is safe. I do the same thing with my laptop since it's battery only last for a maximum of 3-4 hours and I usually spend 6 hours a day surfing the net. I've been using it since college and up to now my laptop is still up and running..

All rechargeable batteries have a life span related to the number of times it is charged and discharged. Modern batteries are better than old construction but still they eventually refuse to take a charge or to hold a charge for any length of time.
So yes, remove your battery while you are plugged in.
Even better, if you are plugged in 15 hours a day then buy a desktop.

I don't like desktop its so bulky. But I decided to remove the battery and so far my laptop is just working fine. So its only shows that a laptop can run like desktop without the battery. now I know how to preserve my laptop battery. I'm hoping that my new laptop battery can last ten years without any problem.

If I remember correctly, it is advised to remove your battery from the laptop when its plugged in. If you only used your laptop for a hour or so at a time it probably wouldnt be worth it. You said you use it while plugged in for up to 15 hours a day so I would definetly take the battery out while plugged in.

My main concern is that is it safe? Because I read the manual and theirs no instruction or advice that I need to remove the battery if I will going to use my laptop in long hours. And other thing is that if laptop really build to run without battery on.

good day bulastika,
before, i used to removed my laptop battery and kept it inside the bag whenever i used my laptop. as i remember somebody told us not to attached it when we are using the laptop. however, as we noticed, that does not bring any good. as the life span of the battery somehow deteriorates. so, we changed the method anymore. we are now attaching the battery to the laptop whenever we are using it. and if the charge already reaches its 100% charging (fully charge), we will gonna unplug it and start using its battery. so in this way, the battery is being exercised and maximise to its proper usage.

Battery on a laptop is a very crucial component. We should be careful of how the use of battery laptop. Please note that the price of original battery is quite expensive. You have plan to buy a new laptop, would not solve the problem if you do not understand how to keep the battery to last.
I have some practical tips, maybe useful...
1. Never use the random charger
If anytime our laptop charger broke, do not use random charger that not compatible with your laptop, since each character of laptop are different. Using an incompatible charger can make your laptop battery can be easily damage even over heating and explode.
2. Always check the cleanliness of the battery
Clean the battery contact from the dust and metal material, even the smallest dust which could potentially make the battery connector get short circuit, corroded
3. Do not be to long to charge the battery
Make sure to disconnect the charger if the battery is full
4. Avoid shock, pressure or hard impact on the battery or laptop
5. Carefully read the manual book
Good Luck !!!

Thinks for the tip. But it still don't answer my question if its okay to use my laptop without battery attached and I will only use the powercord. I tried to read the manual but I can't find the answer. Because since I'm online for 15 hours a day. Its much better to remove battery so that its will not get too work out. But that is if its safe.

I guess its depends on your laptop. My laptop is already six years old and my battery life span is only two minutes left and I just my laptop every day 15 hours a day or even more. But still it did survive this long. I also always plug it with my battery attached. But now I removed it and directly use powercord only and so far its running smoothly also.

yeah, the problem for the laptops is the battery which is so fragile. so you can just plug it straight to the socket without removing the battery. It is safe. and do not worry about it because I am doing the same thing as you. However, if the battery had a history of above five years, you had better change it in terms of safety.

I also than that for six years now but I do believe that if you remove the battery you can add some life span to our own battery. Right now I have a new laptop and its running without the battery. Lets see if my new laptop battery can last more than five years.
