There are lots of ways to speed up your computer. Try out the following steps
1. Use CCleaner to clean the temporary files, cookies, caches etc.
2. Use disk deragmenter to manage your files in your hard drive frequently.
3. Download and use best Software available in online to speed up your system.
4. Scan with best antivirus and update it weakly to protect your system from dangerous.
5. Turn off most software running on the tray when system starts.
These are the thing you have to follow while using your system.

It could be a whole lot of things. What kind of connection are you using? How much RAM do you have? Do you scan regularly for malware?
Without knowing anything about your system, I reiterate what's been posted. You should first start with cleaning up your disk (getting rid of temp files, offline pages, data miner cookies, all the general crap that accumulates) and then, defrag.

You could delete all the files you dont really need from your harddisk and uninstall all of the programs or games you dont use anymore. Some programs could still running even without you open it and it takes your computer memory. Thats will make your computer run slower. If you have the budget, you could upgrade your memory RAM so your computer could run faster.
I hope this can help you..

the first thing you should do is to download a software called a registry cleaner from the internet, it will scan your system and fix large number of problems in your computer. that will boost the speed of your computer.
