I just don't get why people have to be so negative!

So my mothers husbands surgery went well, as I've posted before. He's recovering now and soon to start Physical Therapy. The other day my mother posted on Facebook That he came out of surgery fine and thank God for him living through it since there was only a very small chance he would. She went on to thank everyone for their prayers and phone calls to see how he was doing. I see posts like this all the time on Facebook. What really got me mad, was someone on her friends list comment telling her she shouldn't thank God since he doesn't exist and she should be thanking the doctors and nurses. WHY couldn't he have just said "Im glad he came out of surgery and is doing good" or "Glad to hear he's recovering" etc. I don't understand why people have to be so negative in that manner. I have friends on my Facebook who do not believe in God BUT they have never posted something like that on my comments. I understand that everyone is entitled to their opinion but why put other peoples beliefs down in a time of need! GRR it just irritates the mess out of me!

I must say what they did is somewhat inappropriate. I have nothing against those who don't believe in God, but they should atleast put their difference aside and focus on the important subject which is that your mother's husband's surgery went well. I guess they don't notice that other people can read their messages and how for some people, like me, would be offended on what they said. We have our own beliefs in life and other's should respect that. People these days really don't notice what impact the internet has, and a mere misused of it can really cause some trouble.

I agree! I have people on my FB who don't believe in God and I never say anything negative on their page and they don't on mine. When I thank God for something like his surgery coming out good they'll comment a positive comment and just not mention God. And I believe that's what he should have done. I guess he was just in a bad mood that day LOl

Maybe that person wants to convince anybody that God doesn't exist. I agree with you that instead of posting like that, why won't he post anything that makes us happy. There are those people who have different views of life and maybe they think they are right with what they do. I hope you'll not be irritated anymore jennastewart. Have a nice day.

I'm not irritated anymore but boy I was fuming that day! I always try to say something positive to people because you never know what's going on in their life and how depressed they are. I don't want anything I say to make it even worse ya know.

Just ignore then. We can not avoid such comment esp if your page is set to public. Those people never mind what other's would feel. I just hope your mom knows that person personally- so you can talk with them... If they do not believed in God-at least respect the person. Well, how can we expect a person who never believes in God to know the word "respect" (duh) Cheers- don't let your day be spoiled by those nonsense people

Unfortunately, She didn't know him personally. She did tell him that she'd pray for him and that hopefully one day he would come to know Jesus as his Savior and see what he's been missing. She then deleted him from her FB page so that she doesn't have to see comments like that anymore.

Most people who do not believe in God have no hope or faith in much of anything. They are miserable with how their lives turned out & so they like to make others miserable as well. I have a sister that is like this too. She is not really happy with her life & is very jealous of others, so instead of being happy for them she makes stupid comments to make them feel bad about themselves & to bring them down. Sounds like that's the case here as well. If I were your Mom I would just remove that person from off of my FB because I'm sure this wont be the last time that they make such comments as this one.

She did delete him thankfully. Of course, she told him first that she would be praying for him whether he wanted her to or not. And that hopefully someday he would find Jesus. I hate when people try to make others miserable. It's no fun at all but people do it all the time!

maybe that person has a wish and God did not granted it.. Or she has her own god which is evil..God creations have no rights to say those kind of words.. If God really dont exist well what kind of things we came from?..If she can answer this question and she prove that she is right that is the time that she will have the privilege to say those kind of words..

The man was adamant that he did not believe in God because he "doesn't exist" But that was his only excuse. He couldn't say why he believes that or anything. Needless to say my mother and I are both praying for him regardless if he wants us to or not :)

I think that people are negative because of the experiences they've been through. They can't just accept that bad things happen, too, and they wish they had a better life. I am quite pessimistic myself, lately, but I hope this will get better in time. I just need good things to happen, to improve my thinking.
