My mother decided to become a vegetarian about two years ago because she was sick that is connected to the thyroid. She was diagnosed with a problem on the thyroid but refuse to undergo operation and so she decided to consult another doctor, a natural doctor who would advice his patients to heal them by using natural medicine or simply become vegetarian. My mother tried it out and until now, she is doing alright and didn’t have operation. She looks and feels healthier now. How many of you here is actually a vegetarian? Why did you decided to become one? If you are not a vegetarian, do you have plans of becoming one?

I became vegetarian years ago simply because I love animals and the thought of them being killed horrifies me. There is no humane way to kill animals no matter what people say, a life is a life annd I don't think we have the right to take any life..plus the fact I was told by someone whose son worked in a hospital x-ray sept that much is hidden from the public just what animal protein does to our bodies, it took him only days of seeing xrays for he himself to give up meat...

Hi red, I wouldn't consider to become vegetarian. Although we know the health benefits we could get from eating veggies I still think that I would not become one. Balanced diet is better than just sticking to one type of food. However, if I were placed in your mom's situation, I would take the advise of my doctor too. I have heard an old colleague talking to another old staff while we're in our company shuttle, that he he had some health problems too and was advised to eat some veggies too. Since then he said he was feeling a lot more better.

Hi red_amelthyst, I'm really glad to learn that your mother is healthy now. I do hear many cases like your mother to regain health after taking natural and nutritious organic vegetables and foods. I was once a vegetarian for six years or so. On account of certain reasons due to health purpose I was advised to take meat in every two other day. I still insist to take only vegetarian food twice in a month Have a nice day and happy posting

Hi binggaling, hadn't taken any meat for years, the smell of meat seemed to be extremely strange and made me nauseated. For healthy purpose I forced myself to take a wee bit every time to make my taste bud to season to meat savor again. At present I mostly eat fish twice or thrice once a week. Occasionally I would take chicken and pork as well. It's okay binggaling we are here to discuss on topic which we are interested but not to say it's nosy. I like this site as we could jump into any response boxes to chat with others if coming across any interesting topic. I believe you can read my comment for if I type this content in your response box straight away, but yours is not available here. if we were predestined to meet, I'm sure you will comment back my post

Yeah, fish is always my first choice. I was told that people of blood group O is not good in absorbency of protein from vegetables. Therefore our body needs to assimilate protein from meat, egg and milk, etc. I suffered a lot from mouth canker sore. It always took more than a couple of weeks to recover Although nowadays I take fish and chicken mostly, I still have oat porridge as my breakfast almost every day And I'm really happy that I don't have to experience the torture from canker sore as before anymore. Btw really happy to read your comment added here Have a nice day!

I will never ever become a vegetarian because i hate eating them!! haha They are the most boring and tasteless food i've come across and there's no way i will eat only them, throughout my life. Even without vegetables in my past 20+ years, i'm still as healthy as ever. In fact i'm much healthier than people who eats them. Imagine me being a smoker, i've not seen a doctor for the last 8 years and i have no major illness, and my physical condition is fantastic.. haha. So why the need to eat vegetables?

Me? Personally I won't thought myself to become one. I still like meats, beef, pork, chicken, seafood, and many more. I just can't give up all that delicious cuisines, and fall for vegetable only. A friend of mine once want to be a vegetarian, but ultimately he decided to go back to a meat eater again.

Nope, I am not vegetarian and I have no plan of becoming one.. I just will try to keep my foods balance. Not too much, not too less, and with various kind of foods. Meats, fishes, and eggs are healthy food, anyway.. So I don't bother to eat it..

I am not a vegetarian. Although I like eating vegetables and I can eat a lot of them. However, I also like to eat meats. In fact I prefer to have a balanced diet rather than being a total vegetarian. Namely more vegetables and less meats will be healthier. Since the meats can still give us nutritions we need. I love China

Hello red_: I am a vegetarian by cultural context. But then, there are many who like me here in my country whose basic lifestyle/belief at home is vegetarian. However, a large number of such traditional vegetarians do eat meat outside their house and some who have changed from their beliefs do even cook at home. But what I find paradoxical is that while traditional meat eaters are finding virtue in changing life style to vegetarianism all over the world, some back home fancy regular meat eating as a notion of more stronger food than vegetarian. I have shared with many people, articles or resources that talk about the virtues of vegetarianism in an objective manner and I do again hoping there is good educational value for members who may find this resource: [No affiliate links] http://www.euroveg.eu/lang/en/about/about.php http://www.vrg.org/nutshell/poll.htm I can share more, for those interested.

eating well plays an important part in maintaining good health plenty of fruits and vegetables, some meat, fish, eggs , beans and non diary sources of protein, just a small amount of foods high in fat and sugar. I'm not really a vegetarian but i prefer to eat vegetables than meat. Simply because some people live eating only vegetables which can help a lot. Vegetarian around the world have lot believed that a vegetarian diet is a healthier choice than a meat based one.

No, I'm not a vegetarian. It's not really something that I plan on becoming. At least, not at the moment. Who knows? It could happen, but for the time being, it's not something that I think will happen for sure. Not for me, at any rate.

Wow, after hearing your mother's story, I think I am convinced to try that kind of diet. However, in the place where I live seldom can I find restaurants selling vegetarian food. Vegetables are usually mixed with meat. Preparing it myself would be nice but then again I know how hard it is and the time you need to prepare vegetarian food.

It's been 12 years since I am a vegetarian, I used to eat chicken, Mutton, fish and egg before but gradually, I felt that I didn't like the test and that's why I stopped eating these things. I like to eat rice with daal and I love it so much that I stopped eating non-veg completely, I don't like spicy food and therefore, I always prefer vegetarian food that is not spicy.

I do eat vegetable but I am not a real vegetarian. I wanted to become one but it's hard to teach myself because I still crave for meat and fish. Being a vegetarian is very much healthy. What matters to me now is I am able to balance the food I take. Everyday I eat vegetable, little by little everyday is a good way still to maintain good health.

I wouldn't like to be a vegetarian but Iam happy that it is working for your mum. Wish her well with the diet. If you don't mind what was the diagnosis of your mum?
