Assuring Children's Future

The middle aged parents are more or less educated as post graduates even and they have accomplished well in life. They aspired to educate their children in the same way. May be the parents' generation is the first generation who studied a professional course and without any difficulty got into a promising job and today they are retired and living on substantial pension. Some may be even are paying tax on their pesion. But when we look at the children of such parents, they too are highly educated and now they are more or less 30 to 35 years old but without employment. Some may work on contract without any security to be made permanent hence they will not see the pension. Most of the grown up children are still dependent on the earnings of the parents. It is said that those who put in their effort, throughout the study period definitely get the job. Is it true for all? Many students studied with a goal to reach and are still hunting for a job. Earlier no parents looked forward that the girl should work outside and bring income to sustain the family but today it has become indispensible. On the otherhand when a boy reached 25 years of age surely he would get a job and think of marrying. But today perhaps mostly boys are unemployed and the girl cannot dream of marrying a decent boy suitably employed. The builders of those who shape our society, what concern they have for our youth? Does the society offer the chances for security for their socio-economic life?

I don't know how it is in your country but my parents and their parents already studied (my parents are 60 years and older so 1 generation already more as you are talking about). No job you will get over here or very hard if you are already 21 years old. No matter if you studied or not. Our government wanted all girls to study (a smart girl is thinking about her future, was a slogan for a long long time. But at the same time the government doesn't care. To find someone to take care of your kids is hard and to take it to a pre-school is very expensive it will take you a month income). So the choice is: no kids or not working. Or working to pay for daycare for your kids and be deadly tired every day and live poor. Not finding a job after you finished your study I see here already since the past 30 years. There are jobs but only for low educated people who are cheaper. Even if you are willing to do a job where you don't need an education for nobody will hire you. Why? Because they say you are way to high educated for it (which means expensive also). So you will never get any work-experiences either and can sit at home for the rest of your life feeling useless.

Thank you for this realistic information. Yes you are right when you say either kids or job. Ane if baby sitter has to be paid highly so much better the mother herself takes care of. What I spoke is yes some generations nearing 60s to 70s like I see them well and highly educated, worked as teachers or in offices, grandmothers took care of their children and everything went well in life. But now the children's turn parents educated them well and now struggling for job, and no marriage until you get a job...so 35 and more of age, still unsettled in life and dependent on parents. It is a pity that the man power is being wasted for want of jobs and bringing up a generation competent with a caliber to withstand life. Even then It can be seen that it is not formal education, even the persons with little education bring up a mature family.

Everyone wants to assure their child's future, but it is becoming increasingly harder to do so. So many people are losing their jobs and they are becoming unemployed and it is becoming increasingly harder to insure that your child will have the best chances at life. It's become difficult for parents to just get the basic necessities for their children these days.

srjac hi I am here in California in the US and unemployment is second worst in the nation so parens and young people have done all they could and children grew up went to college and now are standing in line for the jobs and for each job there could be hundreds.George W Bush practically bankrupted our country fighting a stupid war as he thought they had weapons of mass 'destruction., now Obama is here trying to pick up the pieces and not doing too good because Congress fights against him every step of the way.

hello there. you have a very brilliant observation in today's society. as i read your post, i can picture out in my mind what you want to say.indeed there are many unemployed individuals right now.some may have landed a job but the job they are in is way unrelated from their college degree. some health related degree holders have call center jobs. i hope time will come that job mismatches will decline in number.

In my country, young people don not have many chances after they finish studies. But I think that if you are good enough, you do find some place to work afterwards, if you try really hard, and if you really want a job. Regarding children, I think that parents should oblige them to work hard on their studies, no matter how difficult and tiring it is for them. It's for the best, for their future.
