Life has become hectic with the modernization of many facilities, and we are totally indulged and getting equipped with many things resulting in not having peace in life. A couple of decades back Life was superb with all the leisure time and also peace...but now, I feel no one is enjoying peace in their life's . What about you - share your valuable thoughts which will surely help others...

A couple decades ago there was still war and violence. It won't stop 'cos we are all divided by one sort of faction or another. As long as this is still present there will be differences and we will fight. Sad but human nature.

Everone in this world i chasing happiness and trying to lead peaceful lives but instead they are finding only strife, sorrow hatred and troubles which is making their lives utterly miserable. Peace can come only when people get rid of their egoes, become contented and do not fall prey to anger, hatred, envy, jealousy and lust. The mind is really the culprit which makes a monkey out of man.Thoughts come at supersonic speed, one after another and do not give even a moment of peace to him. Yogis with their yogic practices and meditation gain control of their mind and reduce their desires and thoughts to an absolute minimum and in many cases to zero. They attain eternal peace by long and ardou spiritual practices. They do not have to live in forest or caves or go to the mountains but do so in their homes and by leading normal lives in the world.I am also doing the same since the last 20 years and have got the peace that i always wanted.

Yes veejay19,I totally agree with you as many beings are having mountain height desires which stay unfulfilled....but still accumulate many more desires though they have a bundle-of unfulfilled desires. I hope if one makes a personal study of oneself...and stick to certain principles as you have done to achieve peace I am sure he shall achieve that too. Glad to know that you are leading a peaceful life.

I agree.. we have too many things now, and consequently too many desires, and consequently we are in too much rush to earn enough to fulfil those desires and consequently we try to beat others in the rat race, and consequently we make more enemies for ourselves, and at the end of the day..we realize that what we achieved with all that was not worth the headache.

Hello vandana, you hAve totally explained in a jist about the final result which is true but even-though one realizes this still one goes in the same path of rushing towards things and adds up more desires which finaly stay as desires without giving the results.Hope, one should study himself and make a change in him that may improve ones approach...

First... Why this doesnt show on my Friends List? Life was always better and this is something that our future generations would say too. But I disagree. It is what you make it. You demand more, work more to fulfil these demands and then you say you are left with no time for yourself. I do not ask for more, I have more time and feel that times are still good if not better.

Maybe people now does not want peace but money, that is they are busy and seems to be hectic all the time... Anyway, peace of life can be attained when we are feeling secured and that is related to financial I guess...

My personal circumstances weren't that great a couple of decades ago. I had a lot less things then too, but that didn't make it simpler. I 'needed' some things and even 'wanted' a few. I always try to separate needs from wants. I find it helps me a lot in life. I think the way you feel about things is just as important as having them. I mean in my area you 'need' a car. You don't, however, 'need' a new suv or sports car. You just 'need' a car. I've also never loved things. I've been fond of some things though. I really enjoy computer hardware and software- mostly because it's such an interesting field, but if what I have breaks or is stolen it's not going to make me depressed. I probably will buy another since I like computers so much. I just don't invest too much emotion into the things themselves, so I don't feel that they are complicating things for me. On the other hand, I would feel very bad if someone were to steal a gift that I bought for my wife. Kind of strange that ... I think I just realized that I care more for others' happiness than my own. Or maybe not so strange because it's her I'm talking about. I smiled as I typed that.

I would have to say as far as the majority goes this is true. However there are many people with peace in their lives. It is ultimately up to us to decide which road we want to travel. Unfortunately, success is not something that is taught to the masses in schools. Our thoughts become reality and the energy we put out comes back to us. So if we can find a way to do what we love and put our energy into things that give us rewards then we can each find a little more peace in our lives. It's tricky though because if you are out there chasing your dreams, the majority of the masses will continue to try to tell you what you cannot do, this is silly. Believe in yourself and share your gifts the best you can with the world and we can each find more peace in our lives.
