Thinking Before You Post

Are you the type who just post whatever you want? Normally, I just post whatever. Sometimes I do take time to think about what I'm posting. If I don't, I'd been banned from myLot a long time ago. I've been warned by the moderator more than twice (I think) so I think first before I post. But if I think the discussion is not gonna offend anyone, I just go ahead and post it without thinking twice. How 'bout you?

No, I'm not that type who post what ever comes into my mind. In fact I seldom start a discussion because I do think it over first before I start a discussion. And if ever I have decided to post a topic, I see to it that it's within mylot guidelines.

Well, that's great. You're one of the few who think things over. You'll find a lot of discussions here that doesn't really make a lot of sense, and also violates the myLot guidelines.

Yeah, you're right. Some of them are, so I read it first and if I think it had violated the guidelines I don't post a response. Why post, it will most probably deleted anyway.

Creativity, for me, comes from freedom of the mind, and I make the most of it by taking note, first, of the thought that would make the discussion interesting. Although, most of the time I post discussions that come from life experience.

Well, you better think before you leap! How embarrassing would it be if the discussion was about one thing and you start talking about something completely different. I have done that a few times but I rarely check back on my posts so I have no idea. When I see a discussion that catches my eye, I'll always read it to see what's the subject of the discussion and then I'll quickly think of a reply as I type a response. It's quite hard to post whatever. But there are some discussions which are way too long to read and I just can't be bothered so I just base my response on the title of the discussion and I just basically skim the words. Once I wrote a whole paragraph talking about the bible when the discussion was quoting the Qu'ran So it's better to post something relevant to the discussion because that's is what a discussion is all about! Sharing your point of view and ideas. Getting warnings are already signs of breaking the rules so be safe and post something relevant. In order to get paid, you have to work hard!

Most of the time, I try to make sense out of something that happened to me when posting it here because it seems just posting it wouldn't make much sense, or at least interesting. Posting a discussion can sometimes be some kind of a brainstorming for me when I try to read back and it comes up as "blah".

I usually think before I post. When i post or start a topic, i want it to be informative and helpful to anyone who might read it. When starting discussions I usually think it over, re-check, fill it with as much information as I can, the discussion should be something that involves everyone, something everyone can relate to, something that deserved to be talked about.
As for posting responses, i just type in whatever that comes across my mind. i make sure not to offend anybody, and put many many many smileys! LOL

I like the way you think when starting a discussion. If it's the number of responses you're always thinking about, you'll create more and more discussions that will interest more people. At first, that's how I planned it but I just got tired and just post something that happened during the day.

Me too, I just post whenever I want and wherever I want but I also keep in mind the terms and regulations of mylot so as not too get my posts deleted by the moderators. As far as I'm concerned it is okay to post as much as you want to as long as you follow the rules of mylot.

That's great that you think about the rules, but you also have to think if you're gonna offend anyone with posts. Posting just whatever will get you enemies here, and that's something you don't want in forum where you're newbie.

I'm new here, but I think very carefully when it's a personal post asking for advice. It seems a lot of people log on here to get input to solving serious problems. I wouldn't feel right if I gave advice that was less than my best. They might take it, and then I would feel responsible and terrible if it was not well-thought out. Everything else I just wing.

I don't really give out good advice but I also do think about it. There are too many people asking for advice here that's why I don't really respond to much discussions.

I try my best to think before posting on here. I learned about thinking before posting the hard way a while back when I first got here thanks to two people on here, and I am not going to say negative things about these two because I actually thank them for helping me think before I post on here.
Sometimes, I do post when I am emotional about a topic, and I know that I should not. A topic can get very heated, and then it turns into something that has gone completely off topic, or it has turned into a "war of the words" between two posters. I will not name names on here, but I got into one recently because I was trying to get him to see reason, and he would not, and I know that you cannot reason with people who cannot be reasoned with, so I am glad that the discussion was taken down because it was becoming too much for anyone to handle.
My advice for people are are new, fairly new, or current members, but they have been here for a little while is to make sure that you back up facts, make sure that you try not to answer based on your emotions because that can make the arguments much worse, and you can get into trouble for it. Try to be respectful of how people feel, but if someone has offended you, do call them out on it because they have no right to offend anyone no matter what the circumstances are.
Yes, people can get banned from mylot for not following the rules and for making life miserable for other people on the discussion boards. I have seen it before. I have never been banned from mylot, and I don't want to be banned from here, but I know that there are times where it does seem likely to happen.
There are also times where I want to exit from a discussion with a person, but they will make it nearly impossible for me to leave because they have said something so offensive that I feel that I have to defend myself and whoever it is they offended. There have been people on here that have said some nasty things about other people on here, and they really "put their foot in their mouth", and they ignited an argument that ended in the moderator having to take the discussion down.
So, yes, do think before posting.

Yeah, what makes me wonder is the fact that there are a lot of users here who get emotional over the simplest things. You have to be careful of those, you'll never know who they are. It's just better to be nice to everyone, and if you happen to offend someone, do apologize for it.

It seems you have to read more about the guidelines. You should spend some time reading them to avoid getting your discussions deleted, and your earnings decrease.

Yep. Although I don't really think about it more than three times. I just re-read the whole thing and post it if I'm satisfied with it.

Hi frontvisions,
Whenever I start a discussion I think before I post. But when replying to discussions, I sometimes don't think and just type depending on what I feel over what has been posted. One time I've been warned. SO now I try to be as much careful as possible. I hope it won't happen again.

Let's just hope it doesn't happen again. I, too, had too many discussions deleted but it was because of duplicate posts. I was having trouble with my IP at the time.

When I post discussion I first try to vision myself as the reader. I try to post comments that are thoughtful and engaging. Some discussions get more comments than others so you never know how many people will participate in a discussion. I try not to offend people while keeping it real. I think being mindful of your grammer can keep you out of trouble. In my opinion the best topics come from the heart and may not always take alot of thought.

That's one method you can use, put yourself in the other's shoes. If you think someone is going to be offended by your post, it's always better to just not post it.

I usually think first before starting any discussion. This may take some time but I think it is better than just posting whatever comes in my mind. Through this, I can be more descriptive and I can make sure that my posts are not offensive to anybody who can read them.

Good job on that. Not too many people in real life are sensitive on what they say or do. This isn't the worst attitude but it's still necessary to be adjusted.

I really think many time what topic am I going to post in the discussion. But in responding to some discussions, I just respond directly. I think if you will just not copy a post and you I am not breaking the rules in posting here in mylot, I just respond to it directly. I've only posted few discussions because I am afraid that I will be banned because of inappropriate type of discussion.

One thing that makes me forget about my idea for a response is when reading other users' responses. You're not allowed to copy others' response so you have to read everything, but this makes me forget what I already have in mind.
