ACN, is this a legit opportunity

So I've recently been exposed to this company called ACN. It seems very straight forward and has been given an "A" rating by the better business bureau. They've been in business since 1993 and have grown tremendously. They have gained the support of Donald Trump and have had national exposure. Now with the deregulation of pg&e there seems to be a great opportunity ahead of us. It's the same two things holding me back that is probably holding everyone else back. First the $500 start up fee, not unreasonable for a start up business but still tough to come by for most of us in this economy. The second challenge is getting over this negative stigma of direct marketing. It is or seems to be a huge lifestyle change. I'm curious of people's experience and exposure to this. Has anyone been able to make anything substantial without pitching the business to everyone in their circle?
