Yes, my laptop is a necessity. Most of the classes I take are online and I really need the laptop to do my work. When I'm not doing work on it, I love to go to my favorite websites, check my email, and play games. If I'm bored, I'm guaranteed to find something to do either on the internet or on my laptop.

I agree with you. I guess because we treat is as a habit. For me, it is a must to check my email everyday to reply any important messages. Also, any social networking sites that help us to connect with people

Same for me. I definitely need a laptop (or some sort of computer) for my classes and work. How can anyone survive without email these days? Social networking is so important these days. I feel like you'd have trouble keeping in touch with friends or with co-workers without it!

Hi there Jess1991, Well, now a days, it seems that laptop has been a part of our everyday task. No wonder that this thing has been classified as one of the necessity now a days. Aside from that, due to the evolution of new and modern technology, laptop has been the great companion of every individual who works over the net. And I for one agrees that laptop is really a part of the necessity now a days.

Well i think the answer is depend on each people lifestyle. For me, my laptop or computer is a necessity for me because many of my activities now need me to keep close to my laptop or computer. With my aptop or computer i can earn some money online, chatting with my friends, watching videos, listening to musics, playing games, and many more activities that can be done with it. So, if suddenly i can't get access to my computer or laptop, my life would feels very different.

I think that for some it really is a necessity. When I was in my classes, I found my laptop to be a very useful tool. Although I graduated from university last spring, I still find that my laptop is very useful.

YES! I have 4 kids still in school and both the middle school and high school have gone to paperless midterm reports so to see their grades I need to be able to log in to an online account. They also have homework assigned to them that not only requires a computer but high speed internet. Then you get into bill paying and shopping... I don't drive and my hubby gets very impatient with both activities so my internet saves us from many arguments; something every marriage could do without. I also work online only allowing me to help my hubby with the income without having to give up being home with my children which is something I value more than all of the gold in the world. Our internet is the one "extra" I am willing to pay for in this time when money is so tight for so many of us. Very cool topic

Yes, as a university student I also consider laptop as a necessity. I do not what I am gonna do without it. I use laptop to do reports and I need access to the internet to find resources such as journals, articles, and websites. Although it is not cheap, many people still buy it. Another thing is to check email, especially when you are working in SBU or well-known organization. You need to check your email and response to it as soon as possible.

I don't think it's necessary to have a laptop. It's way more expensive as a desktop and also more behind. Still if I would buy a new computer it would be a small laptop so I can take it with me on vacation. Also I get tired of all these wires everywhere.

For me, I consider laptop as a necessity because of the course I'm being engaged to. Laptop is necessary for a business person, employee, and students because having one will really help. In some places where the economic is not very much improvised, it is fine to not to use computer.

I could notlive without my laptop. For one thing I can get clOser to the screen. I have poor vision, so this is important. For another thing, I don't have a desk, so I need a laptop to save space.

Oh yes, a laptop is definitely a necessity for me. I have a desktop PC, but also need a laptop for when I can't sit at my desk. I do most of my work on a computer, so I need both due to several health issues that make it difficult to stay in one spot too long. :)

I have 2 laptops and they are a necessity. I'm a writer, so I have to be able to sit down and write, and it is best that I am mobile. A desk top computer is not portable like the laptop is. My second laptop is a spare. I got it for $19 after a $100 rebate... and it has its own internet source by an air card. If something happens to our internet connection at the house, I have the air card laptop to use. Also, when this laptop crashed, I had the other laptop to use so I didn't miss any work. My cheap laptop I mentioned is actually a netbook... it's perfect for a spare computer.

Important? Yes but not necessary. As to preference, I can do away without it since I don't want to carry mine all the time. There is my cellphone where I can also read internet items. There are internet cafes almost 24/7 everywhere thus there is no problem accessing the net. In short, although we rely on the gadget so much but it is not 'yet' a necessity to have one.
