I was unhappy with my weight. I lost 48 pounds. Now that i'm where I want to be, and have maintained it for a while, I can't stop being so food obsessed. I want to go out of diet mode now and just live normally. I count every single calorie, I have ridiculous rules and things I can't eat and whenever I f*** up I feel guilty and terrible and like a disgusting cow. The guilt and self hate are tearing me apart. I hate feeling like this, but I can't stop it. I am absolutely terrified that I will gain the weight back. I check my weight every day which I know is stupid but I can't help it. Even a few pounds difference and I go crazy. It seems my only options are be this obsessive, or going back to my old weight.. How do I stop this before it gets out of hand??

I would seek professional help. Although there are many good ideas we could give you, maybe none of us will know what is the best for you. A nutricionist or a psychologist might help you because that, too, is an eating disorder. I am sure there are ways of not regaining your previous weight yet have a better life quality eating some yummy foods that are not as bad. Take care!

Well in order not to be obsessed with food, the best way is for you to be busy. A busy person can't even think of eating actually. Be busy, do something you like (apart from eating) and enjoy to do and put your mind into it. That way your obsession to food will turn to something else. Always think that the longer the waist the shorter the life so go and overcome your food obsession lest you live so short and can no longer eat at all after. You can do it!

I can understand completely. I've been dealing with eating disorders all my life and I can't seem to find a balance. It's either I eat too much or starve myself.
I know you might not want to hear this, but the best suggestion I can give you is to talk with your doctor. Eating disorders are treatable. I'm going for therapy myself and that's one issue that I want to bring up.

I guess you just have to be realistic about it. Just be yourself and eat what you want so you don't have to crave for more. Eat small amounts several times a day than eating once or twice but very full. Eat more fruits and veggies. Focus on the healthier side and stop worrying because that will add to the dilemma.

Do regular excerise this would decrease your weight and food intake. Do some meditation and you can relax a bit. Drink more water rather than a some food stuffs.

Relax. I think you are compulsive eating disorder type. Do you eat so much sometimes even if you are not hungry? I think you must control your mind, do not let food occupy your mind all the time. Think about a hobby like gardening, cycling around the neighbourhood and swimming. Maybe some hobby will eliminate your thinking of eating. Good Luck!

Neither of your choices are going to turn out good for you. I know you don't want to gain that weight back but you shouldn't be so food obsessed, this is how people with eating disorders first start out, and you don't want to end up with an eating disorder.
Instead, eat the things you'd like to eat, but eat small portions of them. If you restrict yourself from certain foods, you're going to crave them even more and when you finally give in, you'll eat too much of it.
So try and eat small portions of foods, and make healthier choices. Also, you could try doing some cardio exercise if you get concerned about gaining the weight back. Try limiting yourself to checking your weight about once a week.
It's ok to be health conscious and aware of what you eat, but don't get too obsessed or it will end up controlling your life.
