Be careful about intake of plenty of vitamins on a regular basis.

There are many men who instead of following the age-old advice of ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away’, use to take plenty of vitamins regularly for good health. It is now high time for them to give up this bad habit because a recent research study team claims that unnecessary intake of vitamins for long periods do harm rather than being good for health. It may even act as a poison for the body. So, be careful about it. There is no use of spending money for endangering own life. It is now up to you to take your own decision about it.

I agree that many people take vitamins to supplement absence of them from their food. But here I would like to differ slightly from you. Studies are done on cohorts that are representatives of different races. Its not necessary that every genetic composition is represented by that cohort. Therefore, what may be food for some may be poison for another. Even apples that are grown these days are not exactly unadulterated. We use fertilizers and pesticides, isn't it? These chemicals do enter those fruits indirectly. So I am for live as you want. For you never know when you will meet with accident. Worrying too much about such things is bad. What is the probability we will die of some vitamin overdose? LOL

I also know that studies are done on cohorts that are representatives of different races. But it is known from long ago that water soluble vitamins like vitamin C or vitamin B Complex can not be stored after a maximum capacity which is specific for that particular vitamin. The excess vitamin is then washed away from the body being soluble in urine. In case of fat soluble vitamins which cannot be washed away from the body are stored in fats, mainly in the nervous tissue as being insoluble in urine, they cannot leave the body in this route. So these excess amounts of vitamins do harm to the body instead of being good for health. It is a well known fact. But now scientists claim that all vitamins can be harmful to the body if taken in excess.

Our bodies get accustomed to handle those excesses as well. Those studies ..are they ever reliable? I read them and ignore them because one day they say one thing is good, and the next day they say the same thing is bad. So far they have not confirmed whether HRT is good or bad. I do take vitamin b complex. And the tablets that I take truly help me. Vitamin C - I get ample of it from oranges, lime, and sweetlime. So I dont use artificial way of supplementing those vitamins except an occasional vitamin b complex.

its the coagulant used in the manufacture of these vitamin tablets that are harmful to our internal organs. starch, the usual coagulant used in most vitamin tablets, does not completely dissolve in water and are absorbed by our kidneys and somehow cause damage to this very delicate organ.

If you chose to use vitamin supplements you should always be sure that there are no waxes or extra ingredients that aren't good for us. The more natural the product the better it is for us. It is important to be aware of how much of a certain vitamin we need daily.

Well, we have to give our bodies a break from time to time. When you are taking vitamins on a regular basis, maybe you can try resting for a couple of days, sometimes three days, then take them again. We need vitamins in order to strengthen our bodies. Like me for example, I take vitamin c regularly but I skip sometimes to give the body time to function normally.

I think I agree on this case. I haven't heard that overdose of intake vitamin can do harm on our body. I don't take any supplement as required by doctor. I am fine without food supplement for many days in a week.

I used to take vitamins everyday, but I never really kept up with it. I would buy a bottle of vitamins and take then for like a week or two and then just stop. I just recently bought a bottle and too like maybe 5 and they are just sitting in the kitchen. So, I guess I don't have to worry to much.

The best place to get the vitamins is in proper nutrition. It's a more natural source. I take a multivitamin to fill in any gaps from occassional poor eating habits.

This is certianly worth some study before you just take a hand full of pills. There are many good sites on the Internet that will tell you what you need and what you don't, take your time to study this, your life may depend on it.

Indeed, some are saying that taking too much vitamins can harm your liver or something. I guess that's true as vitamins are made of different chemicals that can be harmful to health when abused. After all tho, anything in excess is really bad.

Hello, thanks for suggestion. Indeed if we eat healthy food we need to take any vitamins pills. Every thing beyond limit is not good including vitamins.

I agree with you DIDI in some parts of India we have to spend a lot of money to buy apple so we do not buy them. But when it come to health problems we even take loan and spend money.

A good balance is advisable in vitamin intake. There are harmless water soluble vitamins that cannot harm us in larger doses(B, C). The body just eliminates what it doesn't use. On the other hand, there are fat soluble vitamins that are accumulating in the body fat and can cause an overdose reaction of the body (A, E). We should always be careful with them.

I do agree with you when you said unnecessary intakes of vitamins could harm us. That is why we should not over consume. But I think an apple a day should be fine:)
