Where on earth do people get the idea that if you and I and thirty eight others respond to her discussion, she gets paid for doing
nothing but writing the discussion? I mean come on, in real life
have you ever been paid for what your coworker did? Of course
not thats just silly to even ask that. But somewhere a rumor arises
again and again spread by probably some one who has never had an account here that you make a ton of money without typing just by
getting our responses.Of course if she had meant she would comment
back that would have been logical.your take.

Well Hatley, I sure hope you set this member straight, then again if they are not responding, then they'll never know what you told them. Perhaps sending a friend request and then a message if they accept to explain how it works.

Hi inu, long time no see..
Yes, I have also have that experience, but there was one time when I did this and the member was grateful for my explanation, that is why I mentioned it. I also only do this if I have time, like I do now...

hi inu you are right and I did this once too and did not hear
one thing. I had taken the time to explain how mylot worked
and suggested they reread the guidelines. No response at all
The person kept right on believing what she wanted to even
though it was not crrect. hi carm I really doubt if that person would
listen as I believe people should read the guidelines
and other info while some come here and want only to have us older ones spell it all out,now how lazy can one be.

I don't think this will work. I did this once and the result was zero.
It was one of the few cases when I sent a friend request. Once accepted, I send a private message, explaining how things work. No feedback. No change in that user's attitude. So why bother?

hi hatley
I have encountered many members starting discussions about that and I always respond to let them know that there's no difference (in terms of earning) whether your discussion have 1 response or 1 million responses if you don't comment back to those responses, it is more annoying when the discussion creator is a member of the site for quite a long time because this has been discussed for so many times before and old members keep on saying it again and again so existing members should know it already unless he/she is a member of mylot for just a few days or a week

hi philly guy yes I think I remember him saying he was going to try to make 200 discussions then I lost track now I wonder if he just
quit . I responded to several but he did not come back at all so
he might be a victim of some of those fibs about mylot paying the discussion maker for all the responses he gets. lol.

hi phillyguy my you are coming along now with points.yes we
the older members have repeated this so much and yet someone
keeps that myth of people earning from all the responses they
get and I think that they also misunderstand too that some say oh my you have got a lot of responses so you will earn well from this as the person saying this assumes she understands that he meant she had a potential for good earnings when she comments back but the other person left it unsaid. so again and again I just say if you type you earn,if I type I earn and if they type they will earn. now this is
kindergarten simple so anyone should understand that surely.

yeah that is a very simple concept to understand but sometimes we can't totally blame then and I just can't help but feel bad for those kind of members who think that way because they already believe it because they have read in some articles that they can earn here for just starting interesting topic thinking that everything that they've read in the internet is true. There is one particular member who is very active last week that start more than 200 discussions in just less than a week but didn't comment back to the responses and didn't respond to other users discussions. I respond to some of his discussion to tell him that that is not how mylot works but he seems very preoccupied in starting many discussions and didn't really read the responses. I tried to add him as a friend so I could send him a message but he ignored my invite and just a few days ago I can't see him in mylot anymore just the way I expect it.

Good title to this discussion. I would imagine that you would certainly get a lot of readers from this title. As a Zen practitioner I am very familiar with this, having said many times in my encounter groups, "don't believe a word I say".. That would get everybody's attention..
I have seen the same technique use by a guy in a car sales lot. I was looking for a car for my wife a few years back now, and the guy said to me.. "If you are looking for a good car, I wouldn't buy a care from me!" I did, because his prices were fair and knowing a fair amount about cars, I assessed that his cars were in good condition. I bought a car that was far cheaper than I had seen before and the car was used by my wife for many years with only service costs. So the law of reverse selling works well..
By the way, don't take too much notice of me, as I am quite crazy! _Derek

hi derek_-a if you are nuts I would like to be nuts too as your make great discussions and resp0onses too. as hvedra has just said.
and I can see that you two know that you earn only when you type
and thus you are not confused as the newcomer was that I was
talking about. someone in some site writes falsehoods about mylot
as I am really convinced she read this that she could make a fortune from being paid for the responses she gets. I wish they would check on mylot and get the correct facts instead of writing these falsehoods. I really do not know of anyplace where I could sit and get paid for someone else's work .lol.

It is becoming a losing battle trying to educate those users who think like that here
It certainly says a lot for what goes on offline and what the future generations think about how they will be getting on with their lives. I guess many think that they cab just sit back and play games or watch television without lifting a finger and they will be rolling rich
It aint like that in the world offline so why the heck would they think that it is like that here, absolutely beats me every time I read it

I totally had to double take as your title seemed soooo not fitting for you!
Some people just dont read the rules. I love being here and chatting with people...if talking back and forth in a discussion is done...it ends up helping but it sure isnt a discussion of one person posts another responds and then there's nothing else said!
There's some that are here for the money..others that are here to cause problems. And then there's the ones that are here for being here..Then there's ones that chat and the money is just another benefit in the end.
I like to think i'm here for the chat...even though i disappear from time to time.

I thought it was really a complain for your side
Probably the people who wonder about it don't read the guidelines. And never tried to at least read and research about how mylot really works. Before we complain we should know how a site runs. She wants an easy money she wouldn't find it here just by posting one discussion! If that is how mylot runs then probably no one will make any comment here but just keep posting discussions

It would be unfair for active people or those who finds time to interact. Some will come just for posting and thinking they will earn from that. Some just tries to get as many referrals as they can. One time one person here advised me to get lots of referrals so I can just sit and relax and let my referrals work for me... oh that was unfair you know... and I will miss the happenings here. So, I can't do that.

I've not started any posts for a while, as the number of responses dropped off considerably. One problem is that I find I've very little spare time, so don't respond as much as I would like.
I've been here since just after it opened, and never found many problems with the site. It's silly of people thinking that they can just sit back and get paid for doing not much work. I get paid for my efforts, and don't expect others to earn for me. If I had more time then I would earn more here.

I am here in mylot for the last 4 years and I am sure that it does not work that way. I am sure however that if you post not for the money, you will surely enjoy it here and will surely stick to the site. The site is all about fun, learning and sharing. The earning is just the sideline or perhaps a bonus on what you do. If you post here for the money, chances are, you will not last long and will soon be gone without even saying goodbye. I do not count my post, I just post and enjoy... For me that is the key to being here and the reason why I stayed here for quite a time already.

hi jpso138 did you read all my discussion? or just the title as that was in quotes meaning I was quoting a newcomer here who
has been feed that lie that our responses pay her so why did
she only make 3 cents? I explained about what you have said.
first I assured her mylot has never been a scam nor will it ever
be one.but you must do the work and the typing in order
to get paid. I like your ideas as I soon learned via mylots Diansa that counting posts will not bring big earnings as you are just making trashy quantity of posts, but slowing down, making fewer
and better posts and enjoying yourself will bring good earnings.
I am like you I enjoy my friends and caring and sharing and the
learning I get from all of you, then the earnings are like frosting on mylot cake.. you do have a br response here but will hold off for a week before deciding. I am also starting on my fifth year here.

Perhaps it's because there are sites where one is rewarded for all community involvement, including creating discussions. It's funny to the rest of us that MyLot is different that way and that people here who don't visit other sites think that this one is what's normal.

should forget the other sites and concentrate on my lot and its ways and not expect something for nothing.

Each site is different. On other sites, one gets paid based on page views. On here, one gets paid based upon responses to other people's discussions. Some people don't understand (or, perhaps, don't agree with) how this particular system works, so this issue arises every so often.

Mylot is a scam, if you think Mylot is about making money. I can make more money working just 5 hours at a job, than I can here on Mylot posting for 5 years.
That's the difference. People come on here and think this is about making money, and somehow have this wacky idea they can post a thread on "I like round bath tubs. Other like oval bath tubs. What do you like?" and get a bunch of responses, and suddenly a large dump truck full of cash will back up to their house and smoother them with money.
It's all about expectation. I expected to get very little money for my posting. I'm here only because sometimes I like to post stuff. The few pennies, are just a bonus.

Hello andy77e, I have to admit that I made the classic mistake of forming an opinion about your response while reading the first sentence and was already thinking of a harsh reply. By the time that I had read halfway through the second sentence I found myself agreeing with the you completely.
as you say, Mylot will not provide you with a massive income but it is nice a receive an extra few dollars every now and then, especially when the income is accrued by having some enjoyment. The majority of members will have joined because of the offer of extra money, but it does not take long to appreciate what Mylot really is.

responses. responses do not pay as the person who makes them gets the pay b ut in the case of referrals yws then you get paid otherwise not look if you work at a company then your brother comes to work there will yo u get his pay for what he does? no you will not. you must type out comments to the responses you get or you make nothing on discussions.

Right, I found that out when I started on here almost 4 years ago. If you don't respond to comments then you don't get paid. You get paid for the answering the comments that are put on your discussions.
I will have to think of things and see if they are worth putting into discussions.

Dear Ms Hatley
The world has always been filled with 2 different sets of people. One who are watchful willing to learn. And the other set is the set of people who will NOT learn. No use to teach them... they will not learn any way
Unfortunate that such people are like the fox which said the Grapes are Sour... Poor Fox, it not only missed out on the taste but also earned a bad name for the entire fox community.

If I were to get a lot of responses that that typing meant I
