Are there meals you only make when it's cold?

I love chili. I can eat it any time of year. But today it's an overcast cold day here, about 40 degrees. So I decided to make chili. It sounded so good, and I love the way it makes the house smell. What is a meal you lie when it is cold?

I go for any kind of soups , here in taiwan they have a soup called Hokuo , I am not sure of the spelling . Its a soup made out of pork or chicken bones and then putting in the middle of the table on a small stove and we start putting our favorite meats cutted very thin so they can cook really fast , we put lots of kind of vegetables and we prepare our favorite sauce and little by little everyone is taking some of the meats and vegetables and then you can have the soup , I really love it , the soup gets so tasty. In the morning or at night we like to drink some hot chocolate for the kids so , can warm Us up. Have a good day .

Oh we do that also here especially when my brother in law, who is a Taiwanese is here for vacation. He will cook the pork ribs (the meaty part) until tender put corn on the cob sliced into parts, slices of shitake mushrooms, squid balls, crab sticks and cook for another 5 mins. Then he will put a small stove in the middle of the table with the cooked stock of ribs, corn and mushrooms then we do our share of putting on leafy veggies like cabbage, petchay, spinach, etc. In a minute or two we will start the feast and it will become a favorite family moment talking over and enjoying the food.
I love the food and the moment it brings!

I like to have chili when it's cold, and roasts and things too. I won't do roasts in the summer, too hot to keep the oven on for too long. Grilled cheese and soup is another good cold weather meal.

I only make soup of any kind when it's cold out and I usually make heavier meals when it's cold, like meatloaf and casseroles. It's too hot to have the oven going in hot weather. Yeast bread is also a favorite for cold weather. Beans (another soup, I guess) and roasts, things like that.

There are really no meals that I wait to cook actually. I do wait til it is cold to fix me some hot chocolate though.

Here in the Philippines there is no winter season. We don't have snow in here but we have dishes that are fitted for cold rainy days. I love cooking 'sinigang na hipon' (shrimp sour stew) with large green chili and crushed tamarind. Served hot, it will definitely let your sweat out on a cold rainy day. Hmmm...simply yummy!
