I used to see many people in our office is using the Social net working sites such as Facebook and Orkut at working hours.I felt very bad when I saw this. Because we had a lot of work to do. I am thinking about restricting these sites in our systems.
What is your opinion about this. Whether you used to use this Social networking sites at your office hours.

Hi simsim!
Using social networking sites at the cost of pending work is certainly not appreciable.
Employees are paid for doing their assigned work not for surfing social net working sites so they uld stick to work.
However, you might be surprised to hear majority of mylotters go for mylotting at their work place ....... Lol!

Hi Simsim!
I really appreciate your comments that we are supposed to dispose of our allotted work in office instead of doing personal things.
It is nice to hear that you do not spend your time Mylotting when you are in office, you prefer doing it at your home.
Am much impressed to know that you are here not for the purpose of earning but for making good friends. I welcome your thought and I do hope that you will succeed in your goal.

Thanks for your response to this discussion. Ours is a private office and we never keep over strenght. We have a lot of work to do. So even if somebody seeing their personal mail also is a waste to office time. I never used to loggin the social network sites at my office. I will always use my home computer for this purpose, when I have time. Moreover, I am not here for money making. I need friends like you from different parts of the world and opinions on different subjects

It is also equivalent to stealing time since employees are there in the office to work not to socialize and use Facebook. If your the system admin in your office better block those social websites and just limit the use of what email sites are to be allowed.

If the nature of job is about social networking site its allowable.
While working, employee should not waste the time being on their social networking site. There is a proper time for social networking activities.
Even if there is no work at a certain time, no one should socialize in their social networking site.
Blocking social networking site will prevent them from doing this.

I guess you need to block those sites. An office is an office and people report their for work and not to waste time on social sites. Unless you use the social sites for the benefit of business like promoting stuff. But if such is not needed, then I would say that you will surely lost a lot of working hour because of those sites and naturally, you have the right to stop such practice. In fact there are companies who are doing this already knowing that it will surely hamper the effectiveness and output of any employee.
