Do you respond to all the posts in a discussion that you have started?

Hey all!! Whenever I start a discussion,I think of all the people who are gonna see it and maybe post in it...When I check back to see how many have seen and posted in it,i kind of grow nervous because I think that it is pretty hard to comment on all of the posts made... I believe that a discussion cannot be made active unless the person who has made it and a person who answers it posts their responses in it...But the thing is when i check back,i find it hard to even selectively answer it let alone answer all of them... Even if I did, i would not get time to see my friend's new discussions and post in them...So i am gonna miss a lot of the discussions going out there.. So what would you do?Do you try and answer them all or the ones you think deserves to be answered?

No I am not answering all the post. Why? Because there are some repetition on the respond and I can not stay all the time in front of computer. But it always depends on the topic. I might respond to all the post if each of them is unique and interesting or cheers me up. But it is really necessary to respond to most of the post (of course if it is relevant)

if you two want to get any responses you should not be rude and skio over people as they do not have to respond to your next discussion at all. after all we spend time too to respond to your discussion so its rather unfair to skip us just because of time. plan it out so you have time to comment to all who bother to respond to you.We do not have to at all you know and I for one get sick of not being commented back on. I will remember the users and not go back to them at all. Why should I waste my time on people who do not give a damn as to what I wrote on their discussion?

The thing is, one shouldn't feel disappointed, hating or putting the blame of the person who made the discussion if they can't make any chance to reply your comment back, because in the very first place no one is forcing, begging or asking someone or whatever you may call it...it is our choice and will that we wind up answering their post, so expectless and don't take things personally.

I have seen some people in certain discussions who Repost the comments that other users have made With a small alteration thinking that it is gonna fetch Them money pretty easily...i hardly read such posts and I Think we have the same outlook towards that kind of people.. i certainly Agree that one cannot spend all their time in front Of Pc.. So maybe it calls for effective time management.. thanks for your opinion..

My first two months here I have missed responding back on the comments made on my discussion. Maybe because I was still trying to observe how it is and I've seen lots of interesting discussions by others that I want to take part in. Those times too, I feel a bit nervous to reply as I don't know how to react, but well anyway I tried to at least one by one comment back on them. Now I'm trying to go back to my previous discussions everyday if I have a lot of time, trying to give my response on them.

It's okay don't pressure yourself. Just be sure that if you come online the next day you can reply back to them. We all have different time zones so that would be understandable.

Hey you are not the only one.. I too stayed away a couple of Days to look around and find out what to post.. But then, since we have such a friendly community, I figured that it does not matter what I post as long As it fits the discussion and also the guidelines... I have had a happy time so far...but worried of whether I will be able to respond to discussions on time..

I respond to those that I can think of a reply to right away. The others I come back to. But I do try to respond to most if not all that replied. That is the whole point of my lot. We are having discussions here. Also I am considering that they took the time to respond to me so I should extend the same courtesy.

Well that is not the thing..if you don't answer the posts made in your discussion within two or three days, Most of them are gonna think that the discussion starter Did it for the sole purpose of gaining money Easily rather than wanting to actually share ideas...

No,I cannot understand some discussions . May be because I live in India, and the discussion started man is in USA.He writes the custom of that country which I cannot understand(some). But I try to understand it .In some discussions, they use abbrevations

shskumbla look theres no harm in that,I have an Indian friend here who tells me when she does nmot understand my american discussion and I explain it to her so it makes sense. just ask the discussion maker to explain as you are Indian and do not understand some of our expressions.mos all mylotters are willing to help you understand their own discussions. we want all our friends here to know what the heck we are talking about. Our abbreviations even sometimes catch other Americans and they say what did you mean by that abbreviation. so ask shskumbla as we will not get angry at all. lol

Hey I am also an indian...i agree with you that at times I find it hard to reply to someones discussion if I cannot Understand what they are trying to convey... Sometimes their english maybe quite hard to understand But hey, all of us are from different parts of the World so it is quite understandable... What I do is I will ask them to explain It to me so that I can post my response to them..

Though I am interested to attend and reply to the responses to discussions started by me, on many occasions it was impossible to me to do it properly due to lack of time. So, at present I start discussion only when I feel there is sufficient time available to me.

For me I always try to respond to their comments as much as I can. I started it so I have to participate. I feel the obligation to thank them all for their thoughts and efforts. It's a great thing that I'm learning a lot from other people point of views. The discussions that I make are something that interest me so I'd like to see how others respond to it.

go read the guidelins saying thanks is not paid for read this for yourseld admins says do not thank people as we will NOT pay for\thanks . so they want instead feedback to each response so if you only have so much time do some of the comments each day then go on to respond to others discussions. they do not have to be done all in one day but do get to comment on all our responses as we responded to you to get this discussion started. If I at 85 can take time to comment back to say sixty responses over a period of four or five days, surely you can spare enough time to do what you can each day you are here. if you want us to respond we must get some feedback because there's no law here that says I have to respond to someone who never ever comments back on my response. there are plenty of other discussions I can respond to where the maker will comment back. if you do not have time to further your discussions then stick to just responding to our discussions instead. Its rude to not comment back and please not with thanks but with a valid comment.

Hey I don't Thank them to get Paid.. I just think that it would be nice to end my Response by thanking them... yes I do have the Responsibility to respond to all their posts As it is the only way to tell them that I am interested in their response and then maybe They will feel like responding to more of my Discussions... Besides you get a lot more time when you are 85(no offence) than when you are 16...

Good morning, chandu...I personally feel that if you have TIME to start a discussion...you MUST also be prepared to show them the courtesy of a response! You started the ball rolling...so you must keep it going..and if you are here, also to earn, reading the FAQ's you will find, your greatest earnings are from responding! In my time here, I have not started many discussions, becuase I know, often I will not have time to attend to both my responses..and the posts of friends! The acknowledgment of a response, furthers the post! By the way....Welcome to myLot!

Thanks... This is something that has worried me for the couple of Days..yes I think you have a point when you said about Showing them a courtesy of a response... But you have to also note that it maybe hard for A discussion starter to be online all the time do that He can answer all the posts made... I think I will limit my posts so that I will get time to Answer them all and still check out other discussions... Have a great day...

and just how do you pick out your favorites and how do you have the nerve to just pick friends if you do this in y our discussions I hatley will never respond to you. why should we mylotters waste our time responding to people who are too afraid of commenting to just do it and comment back? How would you feel if you have taken a bit of time to write a great response and the discussion maker does not give you any feedback? right upset. no instead start commenting back as they come in so you are not doing the whole thing, then the next time on here you comment on more and finally you are caught up. if you have time divide it between responding to others and catching up on the responses you get to your own discussion. do not pick favorites as a lot of us if not commented too will just skip your discussions the next time.I try to comment back on all responses on my discussions and I do get a lot. I do not play favorites or hurt people's feelings.

If I start a new discussion, yes I will respond and answer and respond back to all of them. The friends have spend soem of their time to reply and write a comment and in order to make it as a 'discussion' it is better for the discussion starter to reply to them so it will be a two way of communication. It is not fun if it's only one people talking without others bother to reply and talk about it. If you are an active discussion starter you will find that you got no time to check on other people discussion. That is why I don't start many discussions since there are many out there who will start one and more everyday. If you don't think that you like to respond to all of them then just select any of them and don't leave the discussion without any reply at all. Some people hate this when it come to OP who do not know how to reply back to any comments they get.(^^)

Many members here are just like you. they don't have enough time but they like to start a few new discussions.I wonder how they manage and deal with the responds as people here are sensitive when it comes to starter who don't like to reply back. It is better for those who don't have enough time to just write comments in other discussions but it will be a problem for those who don not have ideas on how to respond different topics or they found the topic boring. So instead writing a comments to others they start their own discussions and become selective when it comes to replying the comments they have. You may choose any ways that you find suitable to you. But honestly just for me and myself, I would rather reply to all of them and only then I will start with a new one. It is a little funny to know that as a discussion starter we can find time to write comments and reply in our NEW discussions but we can't reply fully to everyone in our OLD discussions.(^^)

Whenever i start a discussion, I look at all the people who have participated in it...After that if I feel that i have enough time in my hands,I start answering from the person with the maximum number of posts or the better rated or both... It is so because I think that those people are more experienced and may have better ideas to share than the new persons..They may even come back to respond to my comments thereby making the discussion active...Later i do come back and answer all the other posts...

When I start a discussion, I just seek for my answer. I don't want so many responds on my topic but if the first one worked for me. Still I get so many responds on topics and I replay almost on all of them. I don't comment on the responds which are responded by spammer or any person just trying to increase its post count(this can be seen through their words he has posted). You are new to mylot I can say it by seeing your post count (28), and you are doing quiet well if you are getting responds on your topics I remember when I started here I was not getting even 3-4 responds on my topics. Now I get so much that even spammers start spamming on my topics.

Hello Chandu, Its not at all necessary that you need to comment back to the responses you got on your started discussion but one has to comment back to earn, acknowledge the responder that you have read the response. I also find it difficult to comment back to all the responses these days due to lack of time even then i try to comment back though it may be delayed.

Yeah it is beneficial for both the discussion starter and the ones who have answered the Discussion as they get to share their views (which maybe quite different And contradictory ) and learn to accept each other... I feel mylot is the best place where you can find people varying in terms of everything... But taking time to read and acknowledge their posts can sure bridge The difference no matter who you are or where you are from..

I will do my best to answer all of the responses, because that is how we earn. The only ones I won't answer are those that don't really add anything to the discussions.. if I can't think of anything to say to them, because they didn't really say anything, then I will skip them. We aren't supposed to just say "thanks for your response."

Hi chandu and welcome to myLot. Let me start by saying that this discussion of yours has been done extremely well. You have remained courteous and polite in spite of receiving some harassment and negative feedback. I really admire you for that. My experience here is that if I start a discussion and continue it by commenting to all those who respond, I get to know people and I earn more...it's easier to make many responses to my own discussion that in it to fine and respond to others discussions. If I like a discussion and attempt to respond and find that the maker has not commented back to anyone, I will simply move on. If I read the responses in a discussion as we are advised to in the Guidelines) and find that most everyone has said the same thing or said what I was going to say then I change my thoughts and give a unique response or I move on. Your comments here are excellent, very thoughtful and good quality.

I agree with the fact that it is easier to comment on the responses that a person receives to their post rather than finding other topics and answering them... Joining this website has been a very pleasurable experience for me since i got to know people with ideas and views totally different from what i have...I try to learn my mistakes from all the negative feedback that i got and better my posts each time... I am happy about the fact that people are responding to my discussions even though I am a newbie and may not be too familiar about how to make a discussion work... I do put in thoughts if people already shared the same point that i wanted to share...I try to do it in a much better way, more relevant to the topic... Hope i will be able to spend more time to get along with my fellow mylotters... Have a good day...

i would always try to answer them all as i think they really made an effort to read yours and comment to that..so it's just a nice way of responding to acknowledge, that "hey, i've read yours as well". if you don't have time answering lots of comments, it might be better that you will not start a stream. your reader would not like to feel that you've ignored them anyway.

The first day I start a discussion I will make every effort to personally respond to each answer and then I go and answer a question from that person as well. After that I will look for a day or so for the new responses, but then I have to move on. If I went through all of my discussions every day to look for new comments it would be too difficult, but I certainly do try to respond to all of the anwers on my most recent discussions.
