I am starting a new job

I spend a lot of time yesterday filling out a lot of new hire paperwork for my new job. I am going back into the same type of job I used to have, but I will work for a different agency. I will work in the homes of adult disabled clients. I do not even know what shift I will work. I will be a "floater" so I may work some days and some evenings and some weekends. The pay is decent and I like how the company is set up. I chose this company because it is a part of the state retirement system. I am getting to the age that I should have been thinking about retirement a long time ago. I do not know how much online time I will have now. Wish me luck.

Congratulations! it really hope you like the job. Im going to have to earn online for awhile while I'm away at school. No jobs available on campus at the moment and jobs off campus are sparse. Good luck with your new job!

It has been a while since I have been able to find anything that I was qualified for. I applied to this place even though they were not hiring. They need the skills I have so I am excited to be starting back to work.

Best of luck with the new job! I hope it brings you blessings and security. Jobs are so hard to get nowadays, especially for us older people. Everyone seems to want younger people, overlooking the advantages of experience and a good work ethic.

I think they are appreciative of my skill sets. The job they offered is one that was higher in skills and abilities.

Good luck in your new job my friend. I really do hope that it all works out well for you.
I could not do that type of work myself where shifts are always changing as I like to have my nights and weekends free. I have been trying to concentrate more on my real life business of late too instead of spending too much time here. So my online activity in social networks is not what it used to be either. There needs to be more hours in the day!

I think I can get it to be pretty regular. Evenings and weekends are not too bad, since my husband does not work and when I am home, most of the time he is there as well. If I do this for a while I will have a better future.

Hi GG
You are an inspiration to me and this proves me right and justified. I mean, here at my place, many people your age are too weak or unwilling to carry on with their profession. I wish you all the very best with your new job. You will be missed no doubt but I am sure you would arrive here for at least a couple of discussions per month if not per week.
The best thing about this discussion is that you have found a job of your choice and preferences. I am sure that this interest in the work will definitely help you in easing anything that might arise unexpected.
If possible, please be around as we do need some guuidance and the right directions many a times

I am so glad that you have found a new job that shows promise. . I certainly wish you the best of luck. I bet you are wonderful with disabled clients.
You were one of my first friends on mylot and gave me a lot of good advice. I hope that you can still find some time to mylot. We would certainly miss you if you could not join us now and then.

Good luck!! I hope this turns out to be the perfect job (well, as far as a job can be perfect anyways:-) I'm sure you won't be on as much with the new job, but we'll be thinking of you and missing you when you're not here! I just got 'officially retired' a couple of months ago myself. Giant relief, any income is better than none lol. Wishing you a Merry Christmas season.

I need the income, and so I might as well do something that helps people. I already feel like they recognize my skills that I already have and I will get more training as well. I would have stayed with the other agency, but it was too stressful, because of the position I took. I do not want to be a manager, I prepare direct care, or as they call it at this agency "program facilitator".

I do need to be useful while I can, so that later I can retire. I will be happier with some kind of schedule.

This is a job that I will enjoy, although there will be some responsibilities that are not as much fun. It sure beats retail or fast food. I feel like I help people.

I am giving up some of the other things that take my time. I am relieved to be away from some of the merchandising. Hubby and I tried delivering a rural newspaper route, and it just was not going to work out but it took an awful lot of time. I think, for me, that this is going to help me to balance my life.

I will probably be here pretty often, and it will be even more fun as I do not have to depend on every little penny to make ends meet. Tomorrow I start training.

Hello GG,
Congratulation for your new job but simultaneously i hope you will be here around on MYLOT and won't forget us.Its good to see the energy and spirit you still have to work when people retire and like to take rest at home.I have seen my father who had retired 6 years back but still have the wish to work more and more.Though he doesnot do the job at present and stay at home but still he does lot of things at home too that people of his age won't like to do.

I will be here when I can. In my country I am not old enough to retire. I am pretty active for a person my age. I think there are always things that we can do. Some of them earn us a pay check, but others do not.
