What is walking in her bedroom?

There is something in my daughter her bedroom. She thinks it's a mouse, we put some traps, and food and poison but no result. It's not eating her candies or cookies only 1 special kind, the one St Nicolaas gave her. Is it possible this is not a mouse (it's not pooping and peeing everywhere around) but it's a (russian) hamster or so? She saw something walk through her room quickly twice it was dark, didn't really saw a tail. Perhaps it escaped from the neighbours house? Anyone an idea how to catch it?

Put a cat or an owl in the room. Trust them to do a proper job. Joke aside, as you sure it is mouse and not some other pest? It is very rare that the mouse only choose a certain cookie but left the rest alone.

well the cat we tried several nights he was interested for a while but did not catch anything. Few days ago I bought seeds with poison esp. for mice it hasn't been touched at all but some of her stuff animals has been ruined. I don't think my owl is able to catch the mice or hamster or whatever it may be since her room is too messy (already took her clothes outside)

oh but if this thing has eaten any of the poison, then your cat bites into it, i would be afraid the cat would get poisoned. maybe you should keep the cat out of there.

I had a spider the size of a mouse in my room once. I could hear it walking across the wood floor. That was the freakest thing EVER. Try baiting the traps with peanut butter, and put them under a dress or some other out of the way place.

Peanut butter works well because they can't flick it off the bait spike quickly and make a getaway.

If it's a pest of some kind, then you should be noticing a smell from urine or finding characteristic poop that might identify it..Have the neighbours mentioned losing a pet hamster, and if so,how could it have gained entrance to your place? I'd only be familiar with trapping Mice, nothing bigger..I dunno what to do about escaped pets on the loose-I've only ever had a cat! If the Neighbours lost a pet,ask them what to do..they should have some experience with herding these critters!

Another thing-hopefully by now you're no longer leaving out food for your visitor to snack on in the bedroom!

About more than ten days ago, we had a big mouse in our apartment. It came into our room by biting the three window screen one night after the other. It was so difficult to please it out. Later we had to sleep with our windows closed without leaving a seam for it to come in. It is so annoying to have a mouse inside. Our way of letting it out is to leave the window open in the day. Thanks for the discussion.

I have no idea what this could be! If it was a mouse, it would leave poop at the corners and the places it's hiding. Do you hear noise during the night? Maybe you should see where the noise comes from and check it immediately if you do! I never had a hamster and I don't even know how they look or how to catch them. I guess that you can take all things from the floor and check the whole room from side to side.

Hello wakeupkitty How about try the fly paper. It's a special sticky paper which holds insects or small mouse on it. I tried this at home many times and fortunately no more mouse in my rooms the one left is cockroach. I bought an insect spray last week and I'll make it sure to spray every corner in my room this weekend. I hope you can catch that creature in your daughter's rooms. have a great day

Interesting, and you have not really been able to see it? I would think if it is only eating one kind of thing, and no one has really seen it to get a good look there is no telling what it is, or if it something harmless or not. Personally this sounds like something you do need to get down to the bottom of for Health and Safety reasons especially since it is in your daughters bedroom. Hope you can figure this out.

That's a tricky one, maybe like you said it is coming from the neighbors and then comes in and out of your daughter's room. I am not really sure how to trap it. I only caught a mouse one time in my house, it came running here like it knew the place and then saw me and freaked out, I was diligent about getting it out though. I set up a shoe box next to piece of cheese and I stood quietly behind the box when went to eat the cheese I dropped the box down on him really fast. Then I slid some cardboard under the box and put him outside. As far as I know that is the only mouse that ever got in to my house and I have no idea where it came from. The fact that it is not pooping or peeing in her room probably means it lives somewhere else and just comes in to her room to see what it kind find. I think the best thing to do is figure out where it is coming in and block it.

It could well be something that has escaped from a neighbour. Like you say, mice tend to poop and pee everywhere and you can soon smell them - mouse is quite a distinctive smell. Because their bones are soft they can squeeze through the tiniest gap - no bigger than a pencil so it can be hard to find where they are coming from. Can you get a humane trap and see if it will go for it - you might end up with a new pet if it is a hamster! As Nonersays has already mentioned, bait the traps with something like peanut butter that they can't just grab and run with. I caught one using syrup and oats stuck to the bait spike, it needs to be something difficult to pick up. Remove all the food from the room and anything else edible - mice will eat things like leather shoes and soap if they can't find anything else. You do need to catch it or dispatch it, especially if it is a mouse because they are somewhat unhygenic and tend to breed very quickly.

Maybe you can buy those sticky stuff. You know that paper thing that you peel of. I think it is intended for flies but it can mice too. The only negative thing is the rat or whatever it is will die in it because there is no way they can get our or no way you can get them out.

Probably, it's a rat. It's just that they are used to avoiding the traps. In our case, we were able to finally eradicate the rats, by putting some granules of poison on the floor, where they usually climb to get into our rice plastic container, which they previously have gnawed. Traps can sometimes be avoided by those smart rats.

Mouses are very clever to see all traps kept to catch them. You can block the possible ways of its entrance using nets as some people are doing to avoid mosquitoes entering to rooms.

This might be just a nightmare and this can happen if we don't have a good night sleep. Take a nap and we will feel refreshed.

Mouse are getting smarter now. They won't touch those poison they already knew it. Even how many of it we place. Later we tried using a fly paper, the ones that is so sticky. But it mostly works for the small mouse.

A good bait for most animals is peanut butter. This has proven good for many different kinds of animals including rats, mice even racoons. Put the trap against the wall where the animal is likely to run. Mice and rats use their wiskers in the dark to let them now where they are at.

Get a humane trap and put some of its favorite cookies inside. If the creature is an escaped pet, you will be able to return him/her home. Rodents are smart. I used to have rats (as well as hamsters and even, briefly, a gerbil), and they definitely each had their own food preferences. It is entirely possible that a rodent, especially a pet one, has a favorite cookie.

There're some kind of electronic traps in our country,it can make a strange voice to attract small animals.when the animal touchs the trap what will make a discharge to kill it .I don't know whether you know this or not.The trap works well since I have had a try.
