The incompetent press is really at it again here.

They are announcing that Gov. Walker is cutting funding for cancer screening. What the budget he just signed does is balance the budget. There is nothing in the bill that said, "Cancer Screening". What it did cut was funding to Planned Parenthood. I guess if someone actually believes that Planned Parenthood is the only way to get cancer screening in Wisconsin, they might have a point... but since it isn't, it's just more evidence that the Left in Wisconsin can't make an honest case against Walker. Besides, hasn't one of the few things all sides have agreed on is we need to get lobbyists and special interest groups out of power?

Whenever Planned Parenthood worries that its funding is threatened, they come with the line about cancer screenings and mammograms even though PP doesn't do cancer screenings or mammograms - they merely refer women out to other providers who do those tests. It's the natural liberal line. Emotional blackmail. You can't cut funds to such and such a program because this or that group will DIE! Libs also like having the opportunity to accuse those on the other side of the political spectrum of being not just heartless misers, but people who are so evil that they sit home nights, trying to think of programs they can cut while they chortle joyously over the numerous and tragic deaths their budget-cutting will cause.

The whole liberal line "people will DIE!!!" always sends me a bit. When the new crop of conservatives trimmed things in the budget here in New Hampshire, we saw protests like that outside the state house. There were handicapped people in wheelchairs and mentally disabled folks holding signs, it was truly sad. I take care of handicapped adults in my home and I personally know that agencies that provide day services to disabled people sent their workers (while on company payroll) to the protest with the clients, many of whom did not really understand why they were there, or were spoon fed rhetoric about it. I know this well because one of the individuals who lives in my home was taken to the protest as part of their "day program". Disgusting. And of course all of these agencies receive govt. funding, so they don't want to lose it, but in my mind, sending paid workers to the protest with the handicapped clients is inexcusable. Sorry if this is a bit off the original topic, it struck a chord with me.

Rollo, What they are screaming about is that when PP gets these cuts, they cut back on the services they offer. But I do see what Ted is saying...they make it sound as if women are going to be unable to get cancer screening etc and I'm sure that isn't true. What the cuts did here was stop them from distributing discounted birth control and from what I understand...handing a lot out free. My daughter tells me that if a kid under 18 goes in there and says she does not want her parents to know she is getting it and if she isn't working...she gets it free! Why are we funding that anyway?? An 11 yr old could walk in and get it for free! The point is that the press lies and gets people all fueled up. I haven't always had insurance and I've never had money but I've always gone once a year to get a Paps done. You can make payments. Our Clinic here offers free cancer screenings off and on throughout the year.

It is amazing to me how the left twists things around all the time. Truth is not the main thing in politics; getting reelected and raising money for pet interests is the main thing. It is clear to me (and hopefully to many others) that it is time for Planned Parenthood to go. We may not be able to eliminate them yet, but we certainly can eliminate their funding. The time is now.
