If you guys have weak stomach, I suggest that you skip this discussion.
No~ Not the X-rated scandal but more of a customer complaint. I first heard of this from my mom. I ate quite a lot of times in Chickboy and I do like their food. These past few days, someone filed a customer complain to Chickboy Timog due to finding a caterpillar/worm in their Kangkong order.
Read more here: http://rodmagaru.com/2011/12/15/chickboy-scandal-timog-branch/
If this is true, Chickboy management should do a major kitchen clean-up and think twice about their area and ingredients' sanitation.

Hello Jai-sis the only foods that I eat these days are those located in the fast food chains mostly just Jollibee, Mcdonalds or KFCs.I agree, eating home grown foods are the best because I myself buy the ingredients whih assures the kind of dish we always love to eat. have a ncie day

I work in a restaurant for 5 months. I don't wanna mention its name but this restaurant proves me that cooking and eating at home is the best. They serve salad without washing the vegetables even it came from in public market and they serve the food even it has mold. They try to hide the defect in the customers when they serve it. I can't do anything because im just new there.

It has been proven true, that Kangkong can even have a leech in it when not properly washed.
This was even announced to the public during the olden times, to be very careful in having kangkong. There was this incident of a person having eaten a kangkong with maggots of leech in it and wasn't well cooked.
Hence, a maggot lived and soon the stomach of the person keeps getting bigger, that further lab exams showed it. Thus, an operation was done.
Usually, kangkongs thrive in swamps, where there are leeches.

This the reason why I don't eat kangkong. Whenever I make sinigang I use other leafy veggies such as mustard leaves.

Fortunately though, we rarely use kangkong for our viands. Now that this news is again is hot, people will already be cautioned.

I really can't remember the kangkong thing from before but I'm sure my mom would've told me about that news. Leafy veggies should be cleaned thoroughly before they are cooked and served.

I don't believe in this caterpillar issue. I have seen the pictures posted by the lady complaining about this caterpillar in her dish and it is a huge caterpillar that is impossible to miss. I have worked in the food industry myself for almost ten years and looking at the dish, it is impossible for the cook not to notice an off color among the green stems of the kangkong. And the incident did not happen just these past few days. The incident happened around the third or last week of November so even the management of Chicboy is wondering why this has been brought out in the social media this time where a lot of people will be dining out due to the holiday season.
I have had my share of "extra condiments" on my food but I have never made a fuss about it. The lady thinks it is gross, but imagine I was able to suck on a cockroach through a straw. I complained to the manager, did not get the apology I wanted and left it at that. I never went back to eating at the same restaurant. The lady complaining, if you read through the article, really had bad intentions with the place. Even before she claims that what she wants is just an apology because if you read in the middle part of her story she has an entry "dadalhin ko sa BFAD nang maturuan ng leksyon (I will bring this to BFAD to teach you a leasson)". There are always two sides to a story and again, this shows how we Filipinos are so addicted to the networking site that brought out this issue that anything some people read there, they believe it right away. Just my opinion

I do get your point and agree with most of them. I even had my share of such incidents but it was in a "karindirya" I ordered "enseladang talong" and halfway eating, I just noticed worms in it
I'm actually not aware as to when this happened but since you said it's way bakc in November... It is indeed weird that she just complained these past few days. I haven't really listened to the news much and haven't heard Chickboy's side of the story.
Maybe the complainant is from a rival food establishment?

My cockroach extra was in a very expensive restaurant and the manager explained that the mall beside them had some fumigation done the night before. This explanation made me mad because it meant that the straws were exposed for the roachies to come in there. But again, I just stayed away from that restaurant. The management of Chicboy has already pursued legal action against the lady who circulated this story.

I guess it needs to be looked upon a government agency and they should be checked in for sanitation compliance because of that. I think that person should also look into filing formal complaints rather than posting it on the net. I hope everyone should be warned about this incident and the management should be penalized from this incident.

Well that is the only option I see on this issue. I think that is the only way to push this establishment to comply with and compel them to pay damages for the customer that is complaining to give them a lesson.
That is true.... Government processes can take longer but they are the only authority to order as such.
I think if they really installed cameras they will be complied to submit that as an evidence as well.

Formal complaint is way better but sometimes would take way longer to be processed. Government Agencies might help but it's not like they can monitor each and every establishment every time. I still propose to have cameras installed in the kitchen and have the actual, real time video shown to customers

I'm not sure if it is true. What matters is how the Chic-boy management responded to the incident. They were easily threatened as if it is true.
Or maybe there are caterpillars lurking at the kitchen table or on the dining area itself.
There comfort rooms aren't tidy too so it must be due to lack of training and mismanagement.

Ugh~ I know what you mean. I hate eating out on places with yucky comfort rooms
if this is true, then they should do an overhaul of their sanitation policy. If this is untrue, they should file a case against the person who started this issue

Ew! What kind o poor service is that!? That's why I hate eating out, I'm always paranoid that I'll get food poisoning. This has happened to my friend before. She went to a restaurant and asked for some bread and a nice salad for take away. She then sat down to eat it and when she dug into her salad, she saw a caterpillar lurking in there. She was so disgusted she just chucked it away because she already brought the dish home with her already. After hat, she never wanted to eat there ever again. But really we have no idea what they're doing to your food, for me eating out is pretty much a risk. I have heard on the radio how people who worked in kitchens have seen cookers spit in the food or drop some of the ingredients on the floor and then just pick it up and chuck it back in the pan.
Also some places use very old ingredients and chuck it in your food, I want fresh stuff some old stuff you grabbed from the fridge. It has to be worth the wait and money. So watch out when you're eating out, only trust the best places.

I have read about this, this has been going on in around the facebook pages for friends and I had to look at it myself. I am no chicboy fan as I have not even tried it myself. I guess I won't be able to try it already. I hope they do some clean ups because this is going to take a big blow in their restaurant goers. Thank you!

I not much of a Chicboy fan either (since I prefer Mang Inasal anytime :P) but yeah, they should do something about their sanitation issues if this article is indeed true. If not, they should sue the one who started all this commotion :P Articles like this will really have a strong negative impact on people.

Hello Keihimekawa, The best thing for the restaurant to keep this from happening is to make sure they have a strict hygiene on their kitchen. I remember a News reporter from ABS CBN got poisoned and sick after drinking a coffee that has a vermin egg in it. after this, the media together with BFAD went on checking other Restaurants to check if they have adhere to the standards. turns out most of them don't. always look carefully on the food when ever you eat. have a nice day

I kinda hate it whenever establishments and the government would only start inspecting when someone from the media or a certain prominent figure becomes a victim.
Or when the victim would actually go to a certain well-known network or show to file a complain. That's the only time most of them would act ASAP, otherwise, you have to wait or something.
I'm not saying "ALL" agencies are like this though. Just "SOME" :P

It was just ridiculous that the cook sauteed the kangkong and did not even noticed that dark, long, hairy object which doesnt look familiar. Before that, did they even thoroughly washed the vegetables and make sure no critters are included in the menu? Seems like this establishment neglected the number 1 rule required with any food establishments. This restaurant just started so this is an additional blow to their image.

If the news is indeed true then they should do something with their food preparation policy. I remembered the time when I ordered "enseladang talong" from a "karindirya" and half-way through eating, we noticed worms in it

Oh no, no body will come to eat anymore and the reputation of the place will be ruined because of this present news. I hoped that the news was not true. I was wondering how big the caterpillar was ? I thought it was impossible for the cook to miss caterpillar on their menu. There must be something wrong with the people in there. She may be want to break the reputation of the places or she may be one competitor who was striving to make action.

We shared the same exact thoughts. Maybe there's an "insider" from another food establishment and want to destroy Chickboy's image. I also think it's quite ridiculous for the cook not to notice such huge caterpillar.

uh uh! That's so gross keihi! There's Chickboy's branch (Manggahan Gentri Cavite) in my area and I eat there just once... after seeing this pics... I think it'll takes time and time to eat there again... or worst not to. Anyway, there's more resto and fastfood nearby to choose from, right?!

i don't know if the issue is true but because of this image i feel that i don't want to eat in chickboy because its really look nasty and i don't want to experience eating kangkong with caterpillar. But if the issue is not true maybe there is some one that want to undermine the chickboy.

It's really disgusting right? One moment your enjoying your food and the other, you wanna throw up because you ate something you shouldn't. I just wish other food establishments would take this as a warning and have their sanitation policy go through a thorough check.

This is a serious matter that should be addressed by those that are in the food industry. One solution that I can think of is to have it mandatory that the kitchen of restaurants be transparent so that customers can see how their foods are prepared. This will also serve as a protection of the cooks and the assistants for any sabotage. A CCTV recording of activities in the kitchen will be very beneficial to both customers and the management.
@keihimekawa (2009)

That's just so true. That's why most of the time I visit restaurants with open kitchen setting. At least in that manner I can check how my foods' are being prepared. Better be safe than sorry. I go for the CCTV plan!
Have a camera set-up in the kitchen, connect it to a TV and have the TV show to customers how the foods are prepared

That is so disgusting. I cannot imagine eating that food. I feel like vomiting whenever I see it. Restaurants are paid by customers properly so in return, they must learn to provide quality services.
