Resolutions.... Do You Keep A Track Of Them?

Hi Lotters and Friends
New year is just a few days ahead.
But this is not about what your New Resolutions are! Right. So Last year in 2010 (somewhere around Christmas of 2010), I decided my only resolution for 2011 - I Will Try my best to Bring Smile on at least one face everyday.
Today when I looked back - I found that I have about 198 counts of Success during the last year.. I dont have the names or the events to mention but I have a small pocket diary where I always remembered to put One Plus Symbol whenever I thought my Goal was achieved. Now I have set this Goal as the Goal of My Life and so there are no changes with that but definitely I will try to make the Count bigger in 2012.
Another flaw I noticed while scrolling through the past many discussions where I participated and started... I was a little rude at times and also many a times I was sad and spread sadness around. Unwelcome. This coming year 2012... I Will try NOT to be blunt (as that makes my responses look rude today) and I Will NOT POST anything about SAD events of my Life.
Now the discussion - Have you ever evaluated yourself on your Resolutions or you are like the older me who believed - Resolutions... they are great to start with and only meant to be discussed on Dec 31st each year
Cheers,
theSids

If I will make one I think being sensitive is one thing that I would try not to be. I am sensitive and this sometimes brings me to tears and be sad. I would want to be cheerful, happy and smiling always. But I think I am not so ready to write it down on my resolution's list As I know I'm just going to break it.
As soon I realized I am breaking my resolutions, I've decided not to make a list anymore. Maybe one day I will be ready to make one too.
I am pretty sure I'm included in that 198 counts of your success.

Hi enelym
Of course you should be on that list of mine.... After all right now, my application is awaiting approval
Okay... seriously, yes, you are there on my list as I have been really enjoying being on your responses or discussions - and I do really feel more closer to you - this is why I take the liberty to go all out and be my own self when at your discussions or boxes.
I am quite sensitive too and this is reflected on several posts where I start going blunt but then that is me and I have accepted it. Now I want to make some modifications to that - many say I should grow up... that I will NOT .
I always want you and my dear friends here and anywhere to be cheerful, happy and healthy.

I do find it on my previous post in another discussions I feel a bit ashamed about it... sometimes we cannot really control our emotions, but we need to and good thing you have overcome being sensitive. I still need to work a lot on it.
We won't grow up anymore, this is our height LOL. Okay it's not the height, I know
I am also looking forward to be more cheerful, happy and healthy and everyone in here. Most especially your health.

Hi Bhai! You always make me smile when you write " Hi Behen!"I stopped having resolutions a long time ago. Once it was to write with my left hand and print with my right. I hated my printing with my left but then I started doing crosswords and it improved. so I stopped. Now I can't even think about what to promise to do!
As for sad posts. Please, please email me if you ever feel sad and need to talk, You were there for me, I Need to be there for you. Promise me you will not suffer a sadness Without me! If you promise me, it Will make me smile. It would Truly hurt me to Not know if you are ill or sad!

Hi behen
I have been emailing you many times on the ugly things happening with me... and I will continue to do so because I know I have a loving behen who would always be by my side
Do you mean you can write from both hands simultaneously? That is something rare for sure

I use to make resolution when I was a kid.
But when I grow up I came to know that it's all crap...(opps no offense meant and dang!...you are not allowed to post a rude response on my comment -hehehe)
Nah- honestly, I stopped about resolution as I grow up.
Why the need of resolution when we can live our life like it's always the last day.
Doing all the good things whenever we have the chance to do so.
Showing our love and respect to everyone - if we cannot do any good task for the day,at least never did anything wrong as well.
I've learned that life is too short- we never knew what tomorrow may bring.
So,everyday should always be the best- we can never say "sorry" tomorrow if we die in our sleep tonight. :)

suny,
I have dreams, but resolutions -NAH-
I live my life from day to day.
Come what may.
Call me coward, maybe.
But, I do not expect a lot.
I never wish to fail and see my dreams shattered right before my eyes.
You are right, maybe keeping it myself is the best thing to do.
But then again....I never had any resolution to make.
I live each day like it's the last day.
So, when I die tonight,I won't wake up the next day feeling "sorry for things undone"
shuckzzz...this is my latest article published just now

Hi di
I knew it is the kid
Logically and truely I dont believe in resolutions either... but this one just happened and I also maintained a record just to keep track of it - indications that I am a Kid
Like you I 100% believe in the fact that Life is Short and I should live by the moment

I don't keep a list of new year's resolution my friend. I just hope for the best for the coming year.
Keeping a list of resolution would just give me disappointments when they are not achieved. I just take life as it rolls, and do my best in whatever aspect of my life and couple it with with a prayer for guidance everyday.

Hi SIMPLYD
Not having a list of resolutions and taking things as they come is something hat I feel is really great. Even I do the same and believe in this
I was reading a few of my discussions and responses and realized that it was almost a year that I did the mentioned resolution. When I checked out I was happy that I could do so.

Hi Sid, Let me take the liberty of adding myself in that 198, so +1=199...you are 1 short of a double ton, and I am sure you will get in another few minutes...
Once we try to be positive we are positive in making and breaking resolutions, that's been my experience. We should set resolutions in such a way that will help us develop / improve upon our life.
I really never wish noone should have Sad moments in life but what is the use of life if I can't listen to the pain of others? So, I welcome you to share your Sad stories - may be not here as a post- but you can mail me as a friend.
As every time we are not in good mood or when we are upset, i find MY Lot is there to just scribble our feelings, and when we get an encouraging response, we see our problem with a new perspective and probably end up getting a solution.
Be happy and keep smiling!

Hi viju
Well you are right... life without pains and sorrows is not a great life... and mine is not great either. . Many a days, when I was upset I posted out those as discussions here (of course not all of those) but I did... Today, while going through all of my past discussions I found that okay, these might have helped me ease off the pain and much more.. but then, I also read me writing on a discussion - "I am here for my entertainment...my fun..." Now if I am here for my entertainment and fun... I must think that all others are here for same too and hence I have no rights to make them feel bad or upset just because I am having a bad phase... I also am reading a lot of others' discussions and they too post only pleasantries and useful posts... I will try to follow them as It is a Healthy thing...
Thanks for offering me your email access... I will surely make use of that when in need... and I am also aware of your 24x7 consultancy... Quite Handy for me

Hi namesake!
Well, to be honest, I gave up doing resolutions years and years ago. Why? I always chose ones that I just could not keep and thus set myself up for failure. I do like yours though. I kind of do those things year round...not always successfully though, I admit. I am always promising myself to be more patient, more kind & thoughtful, more positive etc. That has been an ongoing work in progress and I will say that over time I do improve but there is always room for improvement. I think your way of keeping track with the pocket diary is very cool, by the way! Have a great holiday, Sids!

Hi sid
Hmmm... Quite normal... We all do make our resolutions just because we feel that we are not able to do those things... I tried out something simpler last year and realized that I can keep up with that... And I had only one resolution to start with and soon that became the goal of my life Maybe the fact that I always wanted to have pleasant things around me...
I need another one (pocket diary) for my new resolutions

I don't recall ever keeping track of a new year's resolution., just keeping the resolution that you nmake can be tough enough. I find that i usually give up on the resolution very quickly.

Hi sender
Just the last year...(Dec 31st 2009) I had decided that I will have no resolutions for me But during that 2010, many things changed... my views too changed for good and I came up with the one I mentioned sometime during Christmas Weeks... And Somehow I managed to get it stay and also worked upon
Looking back, I think I can make one for the 2012 and try sticking and living up to that one too

Very easily to keep track of New Year's Resolutions when your only New Year's Resolution is not to make a New Year's Resolution. Seriously though, New Years Resolution is something to make the weak willed feel like they are trying to accomplish something rather grand, but in reality, they will lose whatever effort that they have by March. The luckier ones.
I make goals. Goals that I don't have to wait for a the beginning of the new year to start. Some of them are rather sound, while many others are just steps to really get me on the ladder to another thing. However goals have to do with accomplishing something, or writing a certain amount of articles in a week. However New Year's Resolutions are not to be made.

Hi megamatt
Agreed 100% just because I believe the same or at least similar. The one I mentioned was supposed to be a New Year resolution but soon became a kind of goal for me - for all my life... maybe this is why I could live upto this one... Because for most of the others - resolutions... I do not have a great record

Hi thesids,
I used to make a new year resolution, but most of the time, only few of them can be achieve and I found that to work harder on what we want to do is better than just think what we want to do. We all hope to have a better future and work toward it. So in order to achieve that, we need to put in effort and action to make it happen. I actually not really mind to either my new year resolution can be achieve or but I always remind myself to be a better me year after year even with just slightly improvement will do, and that is also consider a kind of achievement.
Just hope that everyone will have a happier and prosperous new year!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Hi yspmyl
I am so happy reading your response. The most essential thing I feel is that we should always be on the look out for different ways by which we can become better persons... Resolutions made are good but the more essential thing is the fact that we try to achieve them
I wish you and family too - A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

I do not have resolutions for new year possibly because I have been brought up in a way not to believe in them. I always pray that the New year should bring good things for me and people associated with me.
Yes. every year brings some or the other unpleasant news or information which we have to take as it is.
I wish 2012 should be a good year for all mylot members.

Life is full of mysteries that unfold as we live each moment. It is the biggest teacher and the biggest thing which decides our fate - what we think or do or even what we become... I understand your reasons for not having new year resolutions.

sids: I must say you are a noble soul and a disciplined person! . You seem to have not only lived by what you set for yourself but are making it better. Your intent is quite perceptible & sincere. You'll reap rewards with such positive attitude.
I am weak at making resolutions and checking back on them linked to specific timelines. I have a slightly different approach. I make certain positive attributes part of my existence. I write about them in my blog and keep revisiting and emphasizing them regularly.
Of course, for 2012, I have set a goal of becoming a successful freelancer with an ethical belief & practice. Working to accomplish.

Hi pushhya
The resolutions that we make - we somewhere know that they are beyond our reach (at least at the moment when we make them... otherwise that wont be a resolution). But... I am quite sure that you are nearing to your set goal. The steps that it may require to be taken will be of Patience and Perseverance but I am sure you have both enough with your experience... I wish you all the very best in the year(s) to come

hi thesids, I love setting goals before new year. It is much more effective on me. Last 2009, as far as I can remember, I set 5 goals for 2010 and there are some who came true. Those were when I passed the GCAT exam for my Masters and the other one was when I was hired as a public school teacher. This 2011, I can say that one goal that I achieved was being promoted in my job.
I am really thankful for your post about making a diary or journal to track if you achieved your plans or did better jobs compare with the previous years. I cannot tell to myself not to post some sad post. Honestly, I am a very quiet person and whenever I am sad or have problems, I only burst it through writing. I think that there is nothing wrong doing that because it is just normal for us to experience once in a while down moments in our lives.

Hi annierose
Right now, even I am not sure how far will the new resolution will stick to me as I always feel that sharing the sad things in life does help us shed off some of the real pain... but as I mentioned, I feel it wrong in sending of waves of sadness across to friends... Not sure but just hopeful.
Congratulations on achieving a few of your set goals and that helps me strengthen myself - I too can live up to my goals if the willingness is strong

I like the kind of resolutions that you have. There are a lot of resolutions that people have that set them up to fail and I certainly don't want to start out the new year like that. Just imagine if everyone had the resolution to spread a smile or be a kinder person?
Take care.

Hi periwinklez
Well dear, I always believe that things are lived as long as we believe in living. I did not start out with this as a goal of my life... initially it was just one resolution and the passion to live up to it could have withered away... but when I realized that this is easy and fun, I tried all possible ways to achieve it... the more I did the happier I felt and soon it changed to be the goal of my life.

I quit doing them cos its hard to accomplish them, If I will change, I will change. Come what may, I just have to be careful in my decisions in life. Its easier to change your self when you are not aware you are changing. I rather learn from mistakes than rely on a list of promises I cant keep. I rather just face tommorow and be ready what is waiting for me,.

Being yourself is the right way to live Learning from mistakes is really great but I find that many dont even realize the times when they are wrong (and worst - take it offensively when they are told that they are wrong). Good to have you as a friend... someone who knows and tries to mend

An year before I was so close to my real online income. I was working hard since two years, and finally I was going to earn something. But you know greed is a very bad virus which if sticks to you will infect you with the wrong, false, fraud ways of doing what you are already doing. That just saves time, or will get you a bit more than what you already have right now in hand. So I started some fraud ways on the website I was going to earn, and at the end of the year, my account was cancelled. I was so close of earning 250 $ payment to paypal. But I tried to cheat and I was paid for it. That time I was off with online earning. But after a few months, my friend gave me suggestions, picked up my confidence again and I started trying new ways.
I was very close to my 100 $ payment on mylot again. Same, end of the year. Wanted to earn it bit faster than Christmas. Started copying around content, and guess what mylot blocked me. They ruined my hard work, deleted my account. They even forfeited my earning.
It was a very sad time for me. But now I have decided I will earn money and that too from mylot. But the thing is, I will never cheat in my life. No fraudulent ways nothing, just legit hard work. Whether it'll take a year more. So on this New Year I have taken my resolution, no cheating in life, with life.
