Yeah, you read it right. Cable lines of our internet provider we're stolen! It's a sad story for those who have computer rentals business like us. I'ts twice the headache because first, we didn't have sales for almost 2 days and second, eventhough we're disconnected, the bill was surely connected!

I am sorry to hear that WHeng. Have you reported it to the police for a blotter to be kept about it? It's really crazy, that some people could be so scrupulous as that, to steal even those cable lines. I think, no one would steal cable lines if there would be no buyers of it. Perhaps it's high time that a lay be made to deal with this kind of thievery.

We only reported it to our provider(pldt) so they can do something about it quickly and I'm not sure if the barangay officials here in our place will entertain our concerns so I disregard the idea. I just hope that pldt has come up with an effective countermeasures so that it will not happen again, my idea is to put some live wires on the cables so that if thieves tried to stole it again, they'll get electrocuted.....just kidding

Our whole telephone exchange went down a few months back. Thieves broke in to the exchange building and ripped out tons of copper wires. It took days to replace and hundreds were cut off. I have 'hedged my bets' and have a wireless connection from across the valley which can give me up to a 10Mbps connection speed and also kept my telephone broadband connection but that is only 0.5Mbps as we are a long way from the Exchange. Still better than old dial-up at less than a tenth of that speed. Fibre optic cable would be great but there is none in our village. Can you not get compensation for loss of service from your supplier?

But you paid a company to supply you with a service and on those days they failed to do so. The opposite should then hold good - if you are away for a day and not using their service you should be able to stop payment for that day. Then again, 'pigs might fly'. haha Happy Christmas.

No, I guess we won't get any compensation because we're on a fix plan so we pay a certain amount every month

I would definitely be calling the company to see if they will give you 2 days refund because you did not have service those 2 days. I can't believe people stole cable lines! What the heck would they do with them? Geez this world is going down the tubes, people stealing everything now-a-days.

I'm not sure sure if they will give us any because we're on a fixed plan so we are paying a certain monthly fee for their service.....and those thieves, i think they're much interested on the copper wires inside that cable lines. This only shows that poverty is rapidly taking its scale

Really bad for what happened to you! I thought it was just simple case why your being disconnected but it is not. You have to safeguard you cable lines now and then to prevent it to be stolen.

Sad to say, subscriber like us can't do nothing to safeguard the cable lines since it is connected alongside with electric cables on posts If there's anyone to safeguard them, I think our service provider should be the one and I hope they already did so it won't happen again.

That is really frustrating! I never know that apart from stealing the computers, even cables outside will be stolen. It was an ideal business before but now it's really hard not only because of the competition, but because of the crimes and stealing evil monster are doing.

yeah you're right, it's definitely frustrating as we have lots of competitors here on our place. About stolen computers, oh please, don't let it happen to me. I'd rather prefer the cable wires to be stolen because our service provider can fix them in a day or to. But to loose units of pc's, definitely a lot of money to loose

I'm sorry to hear that whengcat, it's really to difficult to earn a living if people like those robbers are around. You should call the police and inform them about it so that they can alert other neigbhors to be observant and be able to prevent this from happening again

Actually, The "scene of the crime" was blocks away from us and I don't know if people in that area cares about it. You know, the typical thinking of other people, they don't give a damn because they are not subscribed and won't be affected. Sometimes I also think that some people knows what happening but are too afraid to come up in the open, things like that. And another thing, I'm not also sure if barangay officials or authorities here in our place will give much concern about that too

Oh, whengcat, I am truly sorry for your misfortune; it seems the down economy is effecting us in ways we never imagined. Here of late, copper wire theif has risen significantly throughout the U.S. prompted by our low ecomonic conditions and the high salvage prices for metals; be that as it may, it gives no solace to those who suffer as the consequence such thievery. We can only hope that businesses that provide internet services will not victimize us twice by charging us for services we do not receive as a result of illicit actions by others. Chin up, and my your recovery be near at hand.

Yeah, you are absolutely right. This only proves that poverty is fast rising which pushes people to do bad things just to sustain their everyday living. We've just back to normal just yesterday, late afternoon. A report from our provider showed that it caused them too long to repair because the stolen cables were in such enormous length.

That is very bad indeed. I think i had the same situation before- but it was our electricity cable which was stolen so we had no electricity for almost days. I hope the culprit is punished since they gave many people a headache, too bad they were never caught.

Nowadays, there are so many cases of thievery and robbery due to economy performance in the following years behind, no one pass from the crisis. In Indonesia, it happen frequently cases like this and no one here can deny the negative effects of their misbehavior. I hope the internet provider will face the connection as soon as possible, and it will be the last bad thing happened there. Okay.
