How has your taste in candy changed over the years?

When I was younger, I used to be able to eat a lot of candy which was very sweet or very sour and I thought it was great. Now, I find out that I don't like a lot of very sweet or very sour stuff. I also like my chocolate very dark when I used to like it a bit more sweet as a child.
How about you? How has your taste in candy changed now that you have grown up a bit?

Oh yes, my tastes have changed for sure! The only "candy" I really indulge in now is dark chocolate (up to 70% or more, if I can find it). I find regular candy bars never taste as good as I imagine they will -- I like a Skor bar (which I think is like Heath in the US?), a dark Mars bar or a Three Musketeers once in a long while... but most candy bars end up tasting "waxy" to me now. I like filled chocolates but prefer a smooth, coffee filling or something of that nature versus caramel or anything very hard. I rarely eat hard candy but I do like Werther's if they are around. As I've gotten older, I've tended to prefer salty treats rather than sweet.

That dark chocolate is mmm good. I like mine plain best.
That dark Mars is good as is the Three Musketeers.
I don't think I have had a Skor bar
I think that many chocolate bars taste like wax as they are made poorly... It isn't just your taste buds. Candy makers seem to be cost cutting and using cheaper ingredients.
Funny that you mention liking salty snacks more than sweet ones, I have found that to be true as well.

Have you tried a dark chocolate with sea salt yet? It's a very nice combination. In fact, I've been making some of my Christmas treats and one of them is a cranberry and almond dark chocolate bark with sea salt. My daughter also loves a bar, I think by Lindt, that is dark chocolate, caramel bits and sea salt.

I haven't tried the dark chocolate with sea salt...
I must admit that my salty snacks have been more like Flaming Hot Munchies,Boulder Canyon gourmet potato chips -- Malt Vinegar & Sea Salt Chips and Hickory Barbecue chips... very yummy...
I have my dark chocolate plain ghirardelli's darkest or dove...
Might try the ones with sea salt...

I quit eating milk chocolate and started eating dark chocolate since they say its better for your health.
For about the last 6 months I have not had any kind of chocolate with the exception of some white bark covered pretzels that I make.
I made some in milk chocolate with the pretzels and could not stand the strong chocolate taste. So I really don't care for chocolate anymore.
I would rather have a cup of homemade hot chocolate (and I am not talking about those little instant packets) I make my hot chocolate from scratch.
Such a different taste from the packets you add water too. I can only drink the packets if I have lots of marshmallow in it.
If I make the homemade hot chocolate I don't need anything with it it tastes so good.

I think that the salt in the pretzel would make the taste of the chocolate more intense than normal.
Cooking homemade hot chocolate sounds like a fun thing to do... mmm good. Hoping that you enjoy it often.

I like dark chocolate but not chocolate generally speaking. I am not quite sure if I ever was that crazy about candies. I like sour taste more. If it comes to other food my taste did change so I quess it's the same with candies. But also a fact is many candies are new nowadays. I seldom see the candies I ate as I was a kid.
I always loved 3 musketeers (there is something like that now called: curly wurly), I also liked: bonitos (not there anymore perhaps it's kind of m&m now?) and treets (perhaps also m&m's now?). I liked milky way (not anymore) and if it comes to mars or snickers only once in a while.

I've had a sweet tooth ever since I was young. Until now, I still like sweets but the types I like have changed. Back then, I'd prefer white chocolate or the sweeter variety. Now, I find them too sweet and would rather settle with dark chocolate. But since I'm older, I have more freedom with what I eat. As a child, my parents would limit me to 1 chocolate bar per weekend or if I do well in a test or something. But now, I can have as many as I like :D But now, I avoid hard candies and just stick with plain ol' chocolate.
