Test of time

Typhoon Sendong - A woman inspects a submerged vehicle in a village hit by flashfloods brought by Typhoon Sendong in Cagayan de Oro, Northern Philippines.

More than 500 people were killed, most in their sleep, as tropical storm Sendong swelled rivers and triggered flash floods, which devastated the cities of Cagayan de Oro and Iligan. Unaccustomed to serious storms, the floods turning two coastal cities into muddy waterways strewn with overturned vehicles and toppled trees.

Have you experienced typhoon and other natural calamities in your respective places? For the first time, our place, particularly Cagayan de Oro City here in the Philippines, just recently been tormented with a very strong typhoon which claimed more or less 700 lives and a hundred more missing. It happened so fast and when people were sleeping. It really hurts looking at those people who lost some of their love ones and there were even families who all perished during the wrath of the typhoon.

Yep, I've experienced massive rainstorm in my province before, but not as strong as what happened to CDO. That's something that everyone should take note of when it comes to safety. The most I've had handled was an earthquake back in 1995 or 1996, I forgot when exactly. I used to live in Manila then and I remember seeing the picture frames shaking, water spilling from the glass, the trees outside swaying like crazy, it was a nightmare.
