Hello dear myLotters... I have got 4 consecutive week offs, of which I have spent 2 already.. Today evening, it got too boring at home and I couldn't think of doing anything else... It is the most dangerous stage, as my empty mind is prone to depression... As it started growing dark, I started feeling more empty than ever... Maybe life has become empty... So I decided to come to office... The week ended yesterday and I had my weekly C-sat reports pending... Also, I thought, I would do a little myLotting here... And that is what I did.. I spent 3-4 hours doing my reports... All is done, everything is all set.. The scores are up and I am happy... Management will surely be glad with it... Then I took a break for coffee and smoke... I came back to find emptiness again... I knew only myLot could tackle this one... So here I am, writing on myLot.. Here I am in the office, even if its my week off... Everyone is surprised and amused to see me here... Because no one here likes the idea of being in the office on week off... Have your ever done this?? Or am I being really boring?? Or is my life getting boring??? Please share...

I am blessed with a schedule where I get enough of my work. When I'm home I am online Most of the time. No I haven't gone to work on a day off to do work. I have been there to see a Bollywood movie. See I come in on a Sunday to see a movie in a meeting room but I am not there to work!I'm glad you love your work. And I'm proud of you. Instead of letting yourself dwell in despair, you got out and came to work.Bravo!

What else could I do Sarah? With totally nothing on my mind and no occupation either, my mind would easily get down.. We have TV in the office too and work and myLot... I made right choice, I feel now, as I'm going home. We've our Cricket matches tomorrow, so tomorrow too I'll be occupied... :-). Oh you watch Bollywood movies... That is nice. Which ones have you watched and how did you like 'em???

Cricket is kind of Baseball in America. I don't understand the score system of Baseball. But one thing is true... You hit the ball and then you run... It happens in both of them... Ghajini is one of the best movies... It is kind of my type too.. I cried several times while watching it... And I joined gym to build muscles... LOL.. I get too much into movies at times...

I wish I understood and could watch Cricket! Enjoy! I have seen many Bollywood films. It has been about 3 or 4 years now. Every other month we get together and see a film. My all time favorite is Ghajini! This is my type of film action And musical!

U are not the only person, it happens to me as well when i was working in a cafe. Whenever it's my off day, i will make it a point to be there, regardless how early or late it is. I would be there to help them with their work if it gets too busy, if not we would be chatting around. Though we are all colleagues, but we are not full timers so we don't see each other often. That was during my younger days, and for now, the only time i would be back in office on off days, is to rush my reports in a quiet environment..

Hello mr_pearl, You are not alone at all. This is a commomn practice for me as I am in a IT company and many a times I ahve to come on saturday however it is a holiday to finish my work and have some fun with office friends. On that particular day we work for 3-4 hours then we play some outdoor games and go for outing. It is all done with fun. It is far better than staying at room / home and enjoying the boring sleep.

Hi Nitish.. Thanks for sharing... IT is a real hot field in our country. I'm surprised to find an IT fellow going to office on Sat.. But yes, its better than getting bored at home. I stay alone, so I absolutely hate to spend a lot of time at home... There is a limit, after which one can't watch TV... Or read! For a man who likes action, like you or I, idleness is very dangerous...

Usually, I would prefer a holiday if I am having lessons at school but would like to return to school during my holidays. Therefore, your case is not that strange to me. I am just those people who like working a lot and like a bit of holiday when I need it like about a week or two rather than giving me a 3-month holiday which seems too long to me.

Hi... Thanks a lot.. I am glad to talk to you, as we have this thing in common.. Yes, I am very much addicted to work... It came to me from my father... sometimes a break for a day is fine with me... But 4 consecutive days is too much for me...

The feeling where you feel that there is something missing in your life and you could not really tell what that specific thing is. I have been through that stage and I'm not even on my twenties yet. You should set something to look forward to because that is what I did when I went through that depressing stage of my life. You can take a vacation or hang out with your friends. What is your hobbies in life if I may ask because you can try doing those too. Remember, you are not alone. You can also visit your parents because I think that you also miss them.

Hi.. Thanks a lot... It is good to converse with someone who has been through this... I love reading and watching TV and myLotting... And I do that whenever I am not doing anything else... But there is a limit, right? Lonely evenings, so far, have proved most dangerous for me... I used to drink at such evenings.. But now, I have quit whisky... And I don't want to fall prey to any such false temptation either.. :) I came to office, because I have work here and friends too... Thanks a lot for encouragement.. Take care...

I'm kind of in the same situation. I am off the rest of the year with vacation/holiday time. This is good and the boss encourages it. However, at work there are a number of things that have not been finished and this is work that waits for me. The work that I do not complete will be flowing into January. That is no way to start the year. So, I am hoping to spend some time on work things. Hopefully I will get most of it done anyhow. Unfortunately, my drive is not as great as mr pearl. I have learned how to do little and waste time. But I do see a connection between boredom and starting to get down.

Hello... Thanks a lot... I had no options but to come to office. I'm going home now. As I was leaving for office, it occured to me that I could complete my reports today only & I did it. Otherwise, it would have remained pending till Wed. Tomorrow we have our Cricket matches in the company, so I'll have a occupied day tomorrow too... :-). It is good that you have a lot other things than work. Your life must be so happy & peaceful. I congratulate you... :-) Thank you!!!
