Hello everyone! I feel so sleepy today while working at the office. I know I had enough sleep last night. I am trying to open my eyes but there are moments that I can't help it. My eyes want to close. What do you do every time you feel sleepy while at work?

Hi champoy186, if the office work is that heavy I would like to have a super short while of nap. Actually it's just sitting on the office chair with my head resting on the chair back. It's so comfortable if I could fall asleep for just a very short moment. my phone alarm will wake me up in ten minutes time. It was so considerate of my boss and she advised me to take a day off when seeing me doing so few years back.
Happy posting

Even my boss is really considerate, to me it would still be the horrible awkward moment should my boss happen to see me falling asleep on my office chair I do not wish this to happen anyway, therefore it's rather safe to set my phone alarm.
you are very good in cover your sleep

There are times that I can't help myself. I fall asleep on my chair. But I open my eyes quickly so that nobody will get me sleeping. Lol.
Good for you that you have a boss like her. She's so considerate. I know she loves her people. She doesn't want you to be stressed on your work. Happy mylotting!

There are some possible causes why you are feeling sleepy. As you have said you have enough sleep the previous night. Are you, in some kind of medication. If so, this may be the effect of the medicine you have taken. Working place is also a factor, if it's too cold. Feeling cold sometimes induces us to get sleepy.

You have not taken any medicine, so most probably it's the coldness of the place makes you feel sleepy. Also, because most of the time it's hot outside which is the opposite inside your office makes you feel sleepy due to changed of temperature.

I think that is one of the reasons why I'm feeling sleepy. Our office is really cold. But I like it. Lol. I prefer cold temperature more than warm. Thanks for sharing your opinion. Happy mylotting!

I didn't take any medicines. Maybe the coldness in our office is one of the factors that makes me sleepy. It so cold in here that thinks me of getting to bed and sleep. Thanks for sharing your opinion about this. Happy mylotting!

The things that proved to be best at waking me up and getting me active are Coffee and Music.
Everytime I feel sleepy I get some coffee. Unlike of Energy Drinks, coffee doesn't make me feel like crap once it's effect is over. But you can use Energy Drinks if you like.
Listening to music when I'm sleepy gets me up in no time. Maybe it's because of the type of music I listen to, Rock and Hard Rock. It gets adrenaline flowing.

I have tried before drinking energy drink but it didn't work out. I don't find it effective. We play music in our office everyday. Sometimes even if the music are loud enough, I still feel sleepy. Maybe because of the temperature in our office and my interest is not on the work I am doing. Happy mylotting!

Sleeping at 23 o'clock is too late for me. If I were you in your situation, I will surely get sleepy on the following day. I think the prescribed number of sleeping hours is 6-10. I don't feel sleepy if my room is warm. It makes me uncomfortable sleeping.

I will have a cup of coffee most of the time when sleepy. Washing my face is another way. To stand up and take a walk, stretch the body, eat something, are also helpful. Another factor is to make sure that the air conditioner in your office is not too cold. Go out to the open air will definitely help.

Yes, our office is too cold. Maybe that is one of the factors that I get sleepy. It makes me think of my pillow and bed at home. I tried drinking coffee but it doesn't help. I'm still sleepy. I like that you give many alternative ways to fight this. I appreciate it. Happy mylotting!

My friend, if you are always sleepy although you are sure you have had a good night's sleep, then it may be a bigger problem than just being sleepy. Are you on any medicines? Anything in your body that is unusual? Pay attention to the food you eat. It may have a bearing on your body. Maybe more vitamin C in fruits will help.

I think you are right. Maybe because I don't have enough vitamin C in my body. I hope this helps. Sometimes, I hate getting sleep at work. Thanks for your response and happy mylotting!

I know coffee is one of the best solution to stay awake. I only drink a cup of coffee. I don't drink too much of it. Maybe because I am not a certified coffee drinker. I guess one of these days, I will try to drink more than one cup of coffee to kill sleepiness. Happy mylotting!

I think all of us once experienced being sleep while working, most time it is because of lacking sleep, sometimes it is because the sleep is low quality. You said you had enough sleep last night, but have you dreamed some dreams last night, though some dreams do little harms and we can't remember them at all after wake up, but some dreams can make us really tired. I experienced such dreams, liking i have being running and fighting all the night, though even i have enough sleep at nights, i still feel very tired and sleep in the day time.
Therefore, both the sleep time and sleep quality influence our conditions in the following day.

I can't remember if I had a dream last night. Maybe I feel sleepy because of my work today. I don't feel interested. I find it boring.
I agree with you that poor sleeping quality will affect our condition in the next day. I think we can feel it if we have good enough sleep. We feel relax and alive.

Here, I was very sleeping as well. I have been tired of doing my work and mylot, so I haven't enough sleep because at I joined mylot to check my discussion and response from other mylotter. If felt a sleep, I closed my eyes for a few a minutes. I knew by closing our for few second is worthy to help our tiring eyes.

I also do that sometimes if I feel very sleepy. I close my eyes for seconds. There are times that I get asleep. But I open my eyes quickly and go back to work. It is prohibited in our office to sleep during working hours.

I have read that we really have two sleeping time. One is in the evening and one at 2-3pm. So, even if you had enough sleep you would still feel it during that time, if you are not that busy.
I think what you should do is go to the CR and try to wash your eyes. If coffee can't remedy it still, then perhaps you can stand up and wiggle your body to wake it up.

Sometime feel very sleepy even if you had enough sleep the night before if you are bored. Your body tells you to sleep because maybe you are just sitting on your desk and idle. If you feel really sleepy, try walking around for sometime or drink some coffee. Do something which will boost your energy. You can also do some stretching and exercise a bit.
I myself experienced this already but not during my work. It happened while I am attending a mass in the morning. I just massaged my fingers and hands a bit and fought my sleepiness.

Yes, I am just sitting on my desk the whole day while checking the inventory. It is quite boring. I try to walk around. I go to the bathroom and close my eyes there then go back to my desk. But sometimes I still get sleepy. So I do some stretching while sitting on my chair.
I know it is good to attend in the morning but I get sleepy during homily. So, I decided to attend in the afternoon. I like your suggestion to massage the fingers. I have to try this. I hope this works.

Hello champoy186,
It happens with me when i feel sleepy at work but it happens when i don't have enough sleep at night. When i feel sleepy i go to the shopfloor and do interact with the coworkers or have glass of water.I think you should wash your face with cold water whenever you feel sleepy and get back to work may be your sleep gets vanished by it.

At times when I feel asleep especially when I am in school, I will just write random things in my notebook. Reading books in the library will just add how sleepy I am. If not, I will go to the canteen since the canteen is so noisy and there are foods there.

I don't think I can do this. I am working now and not a student anymore. Good for you that you have ways to keep yourself awake. Thanks anyway for sharing your experiences. Happy mylotting!

Yes, especially if you are working and get this feeling. You can't concentrate on the things you are doing. It makes me not productive.
