Hi Friends and Lotters
I got up early this morning at 7:40 am against my usual time of 10:00 am. And I decided to go out to the open terrace for some morning sunshine... Thought that would be good for health as it is a cold winter morning (temp. about 15 deg. C).
When I stepped out... I was tried to be picked up by an Eagle... Dont know from where it came 9obviously from the skies) but it hit me... I felt the claws of it on my head and for a second I felt it was trying to pick me up...
Now I am having two stitches on my head, and a painful arm because of the tetanus shot(injection) that the doc gave me...
I have never been on the skies as I dread heights and planes.... but this incident today has left me thinking... Do I look like a Rat from the sky that the eagle thought to prey upon or the eagle had a poor eyesight
Your opinion? c'mon, asking for that would be kidding... but seriously for the discussions sake... Have you been ever hit upon by any animal or bird?
It is safer to Stay late in bed during winter mornings
Cheers

Oh my dear buddy Sid, you had very bad luck today...
Really...first thing in the morning...two stitches ...that too in this cold climate...OMG!
Be careful with those stitches, avoid water...
When you have recovered, please try to get early like today for a few more days and borrow or buy an airgun and shoot that DRATSAB eagle as soon as possible ...really I mean it...how dare it do that...
And, no, you cannot be look like a rat or something like that, especially to an eagle as they have very-very sharp eyes...it did it intentionally...please note my advice and do shoot it ASAP, and I will ask you about it...
Get well soon...

Hi Nishant
Buddy, I missed you but I am ready for Aprils meet with you... already asked my wifey for the leave applications and we do our tickets sometime in March...
I dont know why that eagle found me to be one of its preys... After this happened, I even tried to search for any rat or anything on the terrace which it could have been preying upon but couldnt find any...
Do you really mean that I shoot this one down? I think it will try to get me again and this is why you are mentioning this... but dear, in amidst all this, I did not get a better look at this particular eagle... and so I am not sure if my shot would find the right one...
And yes, it was quote a painful thing to have two stitches on the head where the skin is less and in winters.... that was the bigger pain

I will wait for April then..you are most welcome here
No..no..don't misinterpret...I do not want that thing to happen again ever...how can that happen again if you are already well prepared?
Really I am feeling bad that is why I am saying this...If I was in your place I would have shoot each and all the eagles near my house for the reason now they are attacking us!!...no way...you are kind-hearted that is why you are thinking of forgiving it...
apply some cream that doc has prescribed over them after removal of bandage or you can try Betadine ointment (not cream) for quick healing...

Hello Sids,
Oh thats shocking i have not heard an eagle picking up a human being to the sky though once i saw an eagle in DISCOVERY CHANNEL holding a sheep from its horns to the sky.
Yes birds do some unusual behaviour i remember once i was going on the road and a crow just tucked its beak on my head as if it wanted to take out some flash from my head.I just stood there and got worried as this crow was flying just above my head and went away itself after sometime.People told me that they also experienced the same behaviour from this crow on this place.
So its not unsual eagle wanted to have some meaty flash so it attacked on you as it might have got bored of eating small creatures daily.*hehehe*

Hi sjvg
So you have even a more scary story here hmmm... But dear... now what do I do... try to find that eagle again... I am scared as the next tiome it me become more ferocious just because the first time it didnt pick me up successfully
I think I need to grow some more longer hair and even some more of flesh... so that the next time if ever it hits... it hit on the flesh and not the head.... Ouch! the stitches on the head do hurt dear

I knew this was the main reason here... It was confused seeing me up at such odd hours
I am sure the snake was generous and it had been watching you... a loving mom and this is why it did not bit you... but dear... please be careful as snakes are Dangerous... because of their venom

My goodness! I wouldn't think that you looked like a rat from the sky at all! Maybe he was an older eagle and has trouble with his eyes...he might be a little grumpy too.
There are Blue Jays here that guard their nests relentlessly and although I have never been personally pecked, I did see my cousin get a flogging once from one. They are nasty birds when there is a nest around.
I think that winter mornings would be better spent in bed You better be careful if that rotten eagle!

Hi JenInTN
If I did not look like one rat... I am not sure what made that eagle come down upon me... Now I think I looked even worse
We do not get to see any of those Blue Jays but on googling them I find they are scary ones and more dangerous than the Eagles around here at my place not to be trusted by their size...
I wished I stayed in bed for longer and my durations... at least I would not have a nasty morning rushing to the doctor and getting those darn... stitches and the injections...

Hi, Wish you to get well soon. No way, i dont think your looks has attracted the bird towards you. May be it has noted something behind your back/ near you and accidentally caused the bleeding. Anyways i don't believe if it is a good or a bad omen but yes eagle is always associated with good luck and power of sun! Take your medicines and apply the betadine as suggested in earlier responses.

Hi viju
Eagle is always associated with good luck and power of sun That sounds good and pleasant at least something positive and to be happy about. There are no medicines though as the doctor said they arent needed (as I already took the Tetanus Toxide). He has suggested to get those stitches out on Saturday.

Hi theSids, Wow! Hit by an eagle? That is incredible! I have been hit by a seagull who had it's nest on some rooftops on the street of houses I was walking along. The bird must have thought I was about to climbe up on the roof to get her eggs or chicks.. It didn't really hurt, but it was quite startling as it was quite a big bird.. We don't have many eagles around here in the U.K, mostly buzzards, hawks and kestrel etc. but none of them have every mistaken me for its prey. I have heard that some of the larger birds of pray have attacked young babies and children before though.. Hope you don't get attacked again. It must be been very scary and painful.. _Derek

OUCH!! Now that's a really bad day, Sids!! No, you don't even resemble a rat a tiny little bit but you must have looked delicious to that eagle! At least you still have your humor!I hope your head and your arm heal fast and you are feeling better real soon. Bet it will be a while before you step out without checking the sky. heh?

aha..a helmet! Now that is a great idea! You never know. That eagle might have just liked the taste of you and will be watching hoping for more. I think I'd hesitate in going out too. I can't even imagine how scared and shocked you must of been when it happened. When you tell the story, it sounds so funny but I don't imagine it really was at the time.

Dear, are you scaring the already scared me
Seriously speaking, I am really scared of what happened today and I am quite certain, I will remain so for at least a few days to come... But I also know that I will overcome this fear as the eagle might have its own thoughts and may not revert back on them

Oh my goodness dear sids
Okay, first, maybe you are eating the chocolates and the eagle wants to have some (lolz)
Secondly, maybe the eagle has poor eyesight, if you ever met him/her again- ask the age and might be needing some progressive specs (nyahaha)
Now,seriously-NAH- haven't had such incident.
Sisterly advice- grow your hair....that will surely spare you from eagles claw

Hi di
The sisterly advice is noted and passed to the authority. At end... the authority has the final say... always
I will keep the notebook and the pen handy and take the interview the day I see this one again and also the address of the doctors just in case this one needs an eye test... Do you recommend anyone in your vicinity

Hi Saphrina
for supporting my 10:00 am wake up call
@sjvg:
At 10:00 am here there is definitely brighter sunshine and the eagle will be able to see me more clearly... And will NOT mistake me for a RAT ... My today's time wasnt my usual time and I also realized that vision wasnt clearer too outside

I think the moral of the story is that the early bird gets attacked by bigger birds, so one shouldn't be an early bird. If you'd just stayed in bed as late as usual, this whole incident could have been avoided. I now have one more excuse why it's good to stay in bed until 10 AM.

Hi bagarad
It was a bad day to wake up to... at least the morning really was. I mean in the great winters, who needs a stitch on the head and a TT injected. Right at that time, I was near to cursing my waking up early but as the day passed and the responses came in on this discussion, I started feeling lighter and better. Mylot is a really wonderful place
Today, I am back to me again... the lazy late riser... And yes, I am safer

Hello sids
I actually thought you were just telling us about a dream. But then it's not! I have never been thought of as a rat by a bird or an eagle? Really? An eagle? That was big and I'll feel really scary seeing it flying towards me. But from your story, you actually didn;t see it approaching you. I do think it is best not to go out that early. Maybe you can open the terrace a bit while you feel the air coming in. But don't stand or sit outside. Be careful as you never know that eagle may just be around every morning.

Hi enelym
This is what we(me and my wife) are worried. I am more worried because I am more concerned of my wife who normally gets out of bed early and loves the terrace... Dad too has advised us to stay inside but we cannot live this way... We have planned not to be out so early and only keep fingers crossed.
And also, I am not going to get out of my bed before my normal timings The lazy me... sounds bad but is good for me

Oh that bad eagle. He can't find any rats, maybe give him some worms instead Yeah better to stay in bed late, if there is a window just open it up so you can have fresh air coming inside your room.

hi sid
I believe now that PPE is a very honest person you really need your money back for that haircut it's causing you a lot of trouble but kidding aside I hope it doesn't happen again that is really dangerous if it was a bigger eagle it can do more than just a two stitches in your head.

Hi phillyguy
I Trust PPE by his words no second thoughts about that one and maybe he was right... I do need my Money Back now... at least to cover up the TT or the doc
But yes, I have to be careful and watchful for a few next days just to avoid the incident doesnt happen again and the Eagle forgets the whole affair (and hopefully me ). It should have known that I do not want to be famous and so no point in picking me up as a treasure in their museums or amusement parks

Dear Ms. Bingskee
Mosquitoes are more deadly than these eagles I must say that... at least I am safe from this eagle bite as just had one injection... the mosquitoes not only keep giving us injections but also require us to have some more just in case it is malaria
But it is great to know that you have been safe and only on the Wanted Lists of the Mosquitoes

hi thesids,
it must have been scary when you knew it was some bird.. an eagle for that matter. u were probably wearing something light or white thats why what it saw was your hair. yes it probably thought that your head was some kind of food to devour. good the claws didnt hit the face or the eyes for that matter. very lucky!
hit upon... let's see. monkey! it was my neighbor's. i was having fun with it with some friends and the monkey was digging into my scalp, probably looking for lice. but i dont have. then it probably got frustrated and pulled on my hair and i had to run. good that it was in chain.
have a nice day.

Hello, I am listening first time from you that an eagle can hit a human being. Indeed eagles don't like to visit in populated area. Their food are flesh and it is not available to them in populated area. It may be possible eagle have some eye sight problem. But you are lucky one other wise eagle can tear your head with their sharp beak.

Hi anil
I agree with you dear, eagles normally dont get down in inhabited places... but as we have removed almost all their places, poor them, they dont have any other place to go...
I felt lucky today as I know anything bad could have happened... and I got away with just 2 stitches... though quite painful in winters and the head... but that is all okay if I compare it with what else could have happened.

The eagle was probably tired as well and confused you for food! Sometimes eagles try to pick up dogs and such and maybe the eagle just had bad aim! haha that is rather funny but i am sorry to hear about the stitches. i hope everything ends up okay! as for being attacked by an animal and such, i have had one occurnace. When I was younger I was at a family friends house and their dog (a boxer) came up behind me and tried to hump me thinking i was another dog! It was a very awkward situation lol. I only have experiences with cats now, in which they follow me around and come up to me and try to have a "conversation" with me as i could understand them! It is a very funny situation.
