Do you use your frequent flier miles?

Many credit card companies offer frequent flier miles. Frequent flier miles were never important to me because I didn't fly. I don't use credit cards anymore, but I always wished they had some kind of discounts that I could have taken advantage of by using the card. Do you get frequent flier miles? Do you use them? Do you actually save anything? I've always thought that might be some kind of come on to get you to use your card. Your thoughts?

I didn't get frequent flyer miles but I did get points that I could cash in for a free stay at a hotel/motel. Which at the time definitely came in handy. I got several nights of free stays. You stay so many times at a motel/hotel and you earn points for free stays.

You are very welcome. I sure wish I had those points I earned sometimes, it would be nice to be able to have a night away once in awhile. Maybe if the economy ever turns around again, I will be able to do it again. Check with the motels/hotels too, as they also have programs you can join for this.

I get them from an international vacation I take every year as well as a credit card. They don't give as much for flying anymore, and they can't be used for as much as they used to be; however, they are still useful. They can be cashed in for a little money or goods like gift cards from big retailers. It helps at Christmas time. You can buy a couple of gifts with them.

I guess it would be good for dollars off on hotel stays and restaurants and stuff… I wouldn’t get one for the perks unless I would really be able to use the perks and if they were worth it. It’s great you can get money back on gift cards.

Personally I have never owned one that gave Frequent Flyer miles, but I have owned Cash back ones. The big thing is they are trying to get you to use them and then in return offer airline miles, etc. in return. Many times the interest rate on these might be a little higher, and just not worth it in the end as well. It is a turn on for many and a catch 21 for sure.

Can you tell us a little more about them? What are the pros and cons of having a credit card with frequent flier miles?

I have a credit card that gives out prices. They are dollars that you can give as a payment for airfare as it is associated with a travel agency. I make use of those dollars to pay in part for my travels. And I try to use my card as much as I can, but pay it all at the end of the month.
