Wonder why people drink so much that they get sick over and over?

I was just watching something on TV and the guy was a habitual drinker, and he gets sick and barfs in the toilet. He was always drinking, especially on the weekends, and then when he tries to go to bed, the room goes round and round and then he is up in the bathroom with his head hanging in the toilet. Yuck... that reminded me of my first husband... he would drink like this all the time. He wouldn't know what his cut off limit was. He would drink at the bar and mix drinks with beer.. I mean he would drink beer and drink gin, and whisk3y, and rum.. and all that junk... he would come home smelling like a brewery and acting like a fool... I remember one time he was on the floor in the bathroom I was so disgusted, I told him to flush himself down the toilet.
Needless to say, I can't stand a drunk. They scare me. My first husband wasn't always a mean drunk, but sometimes he was. Sometimes he would get his face rearranged because he would start something at the bar and then get thrown out.
I'm so glad that no one drinks in my family. I wouldn't want to have to deal with a drunk. If you have to deal with a drunk, how do you manage? Please share.

STUPIDITY!! I had 2 drunks in my life. i divorced one of them but i couldn't divorce the other. It was my mother. She passed away nearly 6 years ago & i sure don't miss all the drunken episodes. It's an awful thing to have to live w/a drunk or have one in your life.

Having seen the drunks related to my mother, and having seen my uncle try to kill his wife at a family gathering, I do not deal with drunks. I do not associate with drunks or tolerate drunks and I would never marry a drinker.

Once in a while a person getting drunk and sleeping it off may not hurt anyone. But a habit of it can ruin health and break families up.

I think sometimes they just have too much load of their life and they wanna get rid of this.that's why they often come to drinking. drinking makes people forget about the stress and once people get drunk, they can be destracted from the real life.

I'm sure that is part of the irrational thinking. The problems don't go away. Those problems are often magnified because of boozing.

This brings me to state the point of difference between drinking & getting drunl awfully. There are many responsible people like me who are not teetotalers but drink in moderation and less too often. I drink mostly when socializing or in business meets. Once a little too rarely, I drink with some very close friends or my relatives. I have never ever gone to the extremes of the sort you watched the guy do on TV nor would I do crazy things like mixing up drinks.
Being a person with restrained drinking habits, even I get yuck with those kind of obnoxious ways. So, I wouldn't deal with such drunkards myself too!
