My whole street has went Bah HumBug this year, hardly anyone has any Christmas decoration. Ususally this time of year the whole neighborhood look like the NorthPole in Christmas lights this time of year. With strings of lights hanging from trees, from houses, three houses at the end of the street would look like Santa Land. I talked to my neighbor in front of me and she said she just didn't have the Christmas spirit. It is now December the 20th, 5 days from Christmas. So I really don't think anyone will do any decorating now. How is your neighborhood looking this time of year? Are your neighbors in the Christmas spirit.

I've seen a few houses all decorated for the holidays and one of them is next door. I usually decorate inside and out but the reason I'm not this year is because I just lost my father. He passed away on November 26th which has severely dampened my spirits however, knowing it's Christ's birthday, He will hear me tell Him "Happy Birthday" Other than that, that's as far as I'm going with it this year. Hopefully next year will be different. We shall see.

Cats, I am so sorry about your loss. I have been missing seeing you around. I hope that you can be back some. Some years I have been really down at Christmas. I feel better this year but I am disorganized and that affects my celebrating.

Hi GG and thank you. I've missed you too. I had to leave for a little while for a couple of reasons one because I needed a break and secondly because of a couple of friends that became enemies however, I'm back being friends with one of them but still, it hurt so I had to take a break from it all. Then my dad got really sick and we had to camp out for a week to be closer to him while he was in the hospital and then the bs we had to go through getting him home to die 'on the mountain' as he wanted took it's toll on my whole family. However, doesn't mean I didn't miss you all because I did! It's friends like you who've kept me 'checking' things out on the lot from time to time. lol I'll be here but don't know if I'll be as active as I once was but that's ok.... right? lol Who knows, that could change too.
Hope things go better for you and your disorgainization! lol Hugs to you my friend!

Seems a lot of this is going around. I noticed plenty of dark streets this year.
Maybe if the retail business would quit trying to push Christmas on us before Halloween, more people would have the spirit when it really IS the Christmas season, instead of being sick and tired of seeing decorations and lights for 3 months!

My direct neighbors do not usually put up anything outdoors, and neither do I. I had plans to, but did not get around to it. I have a very little bit of decoration inside. I have been too busy trying to get a job and getting started on the training.

Spotty, but yes. Decorations this year seem to be more elobrate than last year but seems groups of homes are displaying them and other groups are not. At work and at home, we definitely have more decorations than last year. I would say the spirit is alive and well and resurrecting nicely: a sure sign that the economy is rebounding rather modestly.

I think it has a lot to do with the economy. Many people have to cut back on spending and unfortunately luxury items get cut. I know if I were not living with my parents I would not be putting up any lights and our tree would only be lit on Christmas Eve night and Christmas Day. I know I have had to cut expenses by quite a bit.

We haven't decorated at all this year, but we aren't ba humbug.. we just don't do it usually. I like a tree.. we had one last year, and I would have liked to have it up all year long... but we can go years without decorating or putting the tree up. I don't think anyone on our street has done it either. It's just not a priority to us. We go away from home for Christmas eve and Christmas day and we enjoy the tree and the lights there. We just don't have the space for a tree really... last year we put it in front of the front door.. we don't use that door.. we use the side door.. so that was the only place to put it... we didn't bother this year.

I have Christmas spirit, yet I did not translate it into lights. I want to share the spirit of love this Christmas with a love for our Mother Earth. And lights are not a necessity but a luxury. I went to the US for Christmas a few years ago and was shocked at the amount of lights the houses had on the outside. Nice but unthinkable in a world that doesn´´t have enough energy to last for a long time.

We had our own real life Grinch a few years ago, who was stealing Christmas decorations and for a few years, a lot of the neighbors were really not comfortable of putting up decorations. The case seemed to never been solved, to my knowledge. I think that after a few years, people seem to be really getting back right into the Christmas spirit.
I don't really have anything outside, but I do more than make up for it on the inside of the house. And there are Christmas window clings, which can easily be seen from the outside. So I'm counting that as Christmas decorations. Still a couple neighbors went out this year. I can't decide whether it was rather scary or kind of heart warming the extent some of them went.
