Its wednesday already and I havent decided if I will make dinner at home. I ordered some tamales tradditional food from latin countries) but thats too little I guess, I was planning to invite my brother in law but I dont feel like , I dont know how to tell him that I am not doing anything this year, last year was my first christmas in this city and I cooked dinner and invited them , thats the only family I have close, but , I know they dont feel this celebration by heart they just do it for me, I want to celebrate with somebody that feels the same way as We do. If I decide to invite them, what else can I add to the tamales?? maybe a dessert, some fruits, what do you recomend me???

Well are you planning on only Latin cuisine or anything goes? If you are sticking to the theme I would do some simple put together foods. Tortillas, maybe some beef and chicken and other fillers, beans, rice, fish, veggies etc. This is what my aunt does. It also wouldn't be Christmas without platanos! Now we are a very mixed group ethnic wise and we also do roast goose, boiled cabbage and whiskey cakes from the Irish/Scottish side. From the German side we do stollen, pork and kraut and apple streusel. Then we also have the Jewish side so we add in Latkes and both sweet and savory kugels. As I sad we are a very mixed group...lol

We usually do a Christmas breakfast. So that way the rest of the day we can just relax and enjoy the holiday. This year we may do eggs and biscuits and gravy. I think the kids would like cinnamon rolls. i think breakfast food is an easier way for me to go.

Hi safety69 and WELCOME to Mylot.
I am going to make 2 or 3 kinds of cookies, and I also make the white and milk chocolate pretzels. For the rest of the meal, I make baked beans, stuffing, and we get in a ham that is ready to eat spiral cut so all we have to do is cut to sizes for our yeast rolls. I also make the mini sausages in barbecue sauce, and get chicken nuggets from Chik-filet. Those come on a party platter. So basically we do finger foods. I did the big dinner for Thanksgiving so I try to be more laid back and have some of my son's friends over that would not have a place to go for Christmas.
I am just throwing it together LOL
If I remember pie crusts, I may remember to make pumpkin pies LOL
Have a wonderful holiday no matter what you make.
