i noticed children or some people who do christmas caroling, that if you give the money even before they finish singing all the carols, they suddenly stop singing..they don't finish singing or sing more carols..they stop and leave immediately...sometimes we just ignore people when they sing carols on our house..especially kids..but if they are adults..we must give them money..

They have got their business plan wrong! They need a business adviser to steer them on a more profitable course. We sing carols in the street every year, but, we have knockers with money boxes bashing people's doors down to rake in the cash while we warble in the road. This way, the punters who actually want to hear our excruciating rendition of the songs can stand in the freezing cold and listen while others can part with their cash and slam the door in our teams face. The actual singers are then free to amble down the street and avoid being run over. ps. All the funds raised go to our church. Happy Christmas to you all.

Its good to hear that your group giving the fund in the church because here in our place when the street children got some money they use in for gambling. It's very bad to see that in their young age they started to spend money for nothing. But i don't mean all street children its only most of them.

that is a good way to do christmas caroling for..that if you do it for funds it will always go to something better and for a good cause...which is to your church..there are some carolers..hardly and a few of them who sing seriously and has permit to sing and ask permission so they can get funds for a good cause..that is the true spirit of christmas..

Caroling for money? In Malaysia, caroling is organized by the church and participation is voluntary. The carolers always visit members of the church or others by appointment. Sometimes they will also sing in the shopping centers with the invitation from the owners. I wish this activity won't ever be used as a mean to get money. It is religious and it is a beautiful practice. Once it is tainted with money, it will not be the same anymore.

Here in Philippines most of the carolers are street children and some are young man. They make caroling outside the houses. When they make caroling it mean that they are asking for money or small gifts.

that is a nice practice in malaysia...i wish it is always like that here..it always good to hear serious caroler who do it for the value and spirit of christmas..because some people just sing immediately on houses without any permission that way sometimes, they are just ignored and knowing that when people do it on houses they always expect money in return...it is more beautiful if they just sing and people will hear the beautiful singing and christmas songs...that is definitely one right and beautiful practice to do on christmas..

The same also goes here. That is why, we do not immediately give the money. We let them show their talents, smiling and watching them while they are singing... This way, they get the feel that they are not just wasting their time and their voices as well... Advance Merry Christmas! :D

yes that's right..but we don't have time to watch them..so sometimes they are just ignored or we give money at the end or in the middle of they're singing..some continue to sing..some cut their singing short..and either way it's fine with us...have a merry christmas to you..

I also observed that too. But those who mostly stops to sing Christmas carols are children. I only give a little to children and adds some coins when they are adults. I refuse when I already familiarize their faces. Sometimes some carolers always get back.

yes that is right..that is also how we do it..to give small pennies to children and add more for adults..but we don't give all the time because some people become abusive because of it..

I try to shoo away the carolers that making caroling before Christmas. I always telling them that go back in the exact date of Christmas and that is the time that i will give them pennies because i feel that carolers don't know the real value of Christmas, i think most of them only think that they can earn money every Christmas.

We had problems too with those children. As early as December 1, they will start caroling every evening till Christmas. What annoyed us is that they don't do some practice and they sing the wrong lyrics. We just shoo them away. One time, they sing but shouting it so my father got angry with them. When some group sing well we do give them coins. One time I have heard a group passing by our house telling others not to sing at our house because they wont get anything from us. It fun to hear them but they should not expect to be given money all the time.

yes that's right..some use christmas caroling to earn money they don't really do it for the spirit of christmas..and they don't do their part of singing the songs well, they only collect money or pennies so that is the reason they become annoying..

Yah. That was funny. Me and my friends did some caroling and if they give us the money we leave immediately. But there are some house owners who won't give anything. It was quite hard singing with all your voice and give nothing. But it's fine. It's not compulsory that they must give. hehe.

yes, as children that's how we do it we only like to do caroling because of the money and we are really not serious about singing and nowadays people really don't care about the children carolers so they are just ignored..

you made me laugh jadoixa.......do they really stop as soon as they get money........ This can mean either that the singers are interested only in money or it can be that the person is not interested in listening and quickly gives away money and wants to get rid of them..........or may be the person had no idea that if he will give aways money early, the singers will stop singing.....

well, it depends on the carolers and the people how they do it some give it ahead some give it when they finish singing...i'm talking mostly about the children who are not serious about it and only want to do it for the pennies or money..as i can observe..mostly here in our area, that's what's happening..we can't avoid a lot of carolers on christmas,,sometimes they annoy us..we don't give money all the time,,some just get away without money even though they sing...regardless of how they're children or adults...
