Kohli, Ashwin and Cowan impressed with their performances in the drawn second practice match between Indian touring team and Cricket Australia President's Eleven played at Canberra, Australia. Kohli scored an impressive century, 132 of 171 balls. But apart from Kohli and Rohit Sharma who scored 47 useful runs no other Indian batsman made any score of substance. Same is the case with C.A.P. eleven, apart from Cowan who scored 109 and Cooper who made 38, no other batsman including Warner, Khwaja and Hughes could make any significant performances. Ashwin also made an impressive outing in Australia claiming 4 wickets for 52 runs of 14 overs he bowled. Another significant plus for India is the impressive spell from Zaheer and Ishant Sharma in second innings although none could take any wicket. Zaheer bowled 5 overs for 13 runs and Ishant 4 overs for 16 runs. This is good plus for India as both these bowlers are coming out of injuries. Let us see how the things shape up in the first test to begin on boxing day, 26th December.

It is good to see kholi performance, he is one of the best promising youngster for India. I think he will take place the no 3 postion for Indai when dravid leave playing test. He is quite impressive and i am hoping runs in his belt in this tout. Aswin is now part of India's spin departeent and will be there. I want him to be played more and should have been given more and more chances to win match for India while making a good experience player. He is on track amd should be utilized well by team. Now questions other part why top order fails to deliver there why they are not performimg? Zaheer and ishant need to keep tje rthym gon on amd produce good result with thier best effort. I am hopefull of great victory this season from India. Best of luck to team India.

Thank you kundanraj. I was considering Kohli as a replacement for Sachin. I had mde a post to that effect here in mylot a few months back. In any case Kohli and Rohit sharma are going to be ideal replacements for Dravid and Sachin in near future.

Yes, both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are really talented players. I am also sure that both these are going to have a good cricket career. It is the best opportunity for both of them to catch the eyes of the cricket fans by some splendorous performance in the Australian tour. I hope both these can perform well in the series. I have also some doubt about Zaheer performance. He was not that much good in the first innings. But, he came back well in teh second innings. Hope he can perform well in these kind of a pitch. All the very best for team India.

I think Virat Kohli and Ashwin are going to be super stars in Indian cricket. We can expect some impressive figures from them in the current test series in Australia. Ashwin's consistent performance brings a few problems to Harbajhan Sing's easy return to Indian team.

Ashwin has certainly impressed in his first outing in Australia. He is definitely going to make life difficult for Australians in this tour. Harbhajan will have to wait for the next series in India. That would be the earliest he can make the come back.

Yes Test Hopefuls on both sides grabbed their opportunities to stake strong claims in playing Test Elevens. Kohli and Ashwin have been performers for India in recent times and it is good to see them to start important tour well. They will need to keep performing to give solidity to the team down under. Cowan has also been impressive in practice match and in domestic tourneys before, and has been rewarded with selection for Boxing Day Test against India. Let's Hope Indian bowling holds good, with Zak and Ishant regaining form and fitness to help Indian team win maiden series down under. Cheers!

Oh yes ! We all are waiting for the big match on 26th December . I was in a little confusion that who will get the chance in the first test match, Rohit Sharma or virat Kohli. Now, with this magnificent performance by Kohli, I am sure that Kohli will be there in the final eleven for the coming match.
