A great story here, about to be told in a documentary. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2076822/Richard-Wallace-hoarded-rubbish-seen-space.html What could have been a tragic story has turned out rather well. The neighbours who wanted him taken to court to make him clear up the mess ended up being the ones who are helping him overcome the problem with kindness. How cool is that? Having people take an interest in him and offer him a helping hand has made Mr Wallace take a look at his problems and start to tackle them. Now he is on track to overcoming his hoarding with the help of his local community. Very much a win-win situation and I'm glad that the community can deal with it amongst themselves with understanding rather than fighting each other.

Hi hvedra: Thanks for sharing with us this story, it makes me remember that there are still good people out there who have compassion and cares for the others wanting to help them to overcome these terrible situations. ALVARO

Its good piece of story... I never think any one could change their house into junk yard like that's. Its magically than junk not fall over his head when he walking around the house. But I find something odd with two last picture the one with no garbage in yard. Its the man not binding with surrounding, like a Fotoshop picture made by amateur.

I have just been to the mail on line and read that story and short video. It is a touching story and I've got to admire the guy for having cameras into his home like that and sharing with the world. As a therapist, I know myself, that acknowledging and sharing a problem like that means that you are going to beat it. I think that those of us who come across his story will wish him well and now I believe he will go from strength to strength. _Derek

I love good will stories and this certainly is. I know sometimes even if the house is a mess it looks so over whelming that it's hard to start! With help though it made everyone happy. I watch hoarders every once in a while. They all seem so depressed! Having all that stuff is a big responsibility!

That is wonderful that they are helping him. It's a shame people don't help others more. So many have gotten away from helping anyone. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

That is nice that his neighbors offered to help him. I used to watch Hoarders and had to stop. It was so depressing. I already have severe depression and I certainly don't need anymore. I bet he does feel good having gotten this amoust of stuff off his property.

Honestly, hoarding is never a good thing, and if that man had to win his right to be a hoarder, then people know where his priorities lie, and it's obviously with things and not with people. Hoarding, I know is true problem here in the United States of America, and it has broken a lot of homes and ruined a lot lives, but there is help. There is always help. I try my best not to be a Hoarder. I know that the people in my life only want certain things, and so do I. If I don't want it, then I will just get rid of it because I don't need it so what is the point in having it? I thought that hoarding was only a problem here in America, but I guess that it can be a problem just about anywhere. People who have that problem here will usually end up having a social worker or someone come into their home to take care of things and get the person the help that they need because they know that that person will only suffer more if the problem continues on any longer.

Compassion and kindnesss go a long way. Also, good neighborhoods, people rely on each other in times of need.

That's great that the community helped him to clean up...it would have saved him heaps of money than the fines or court expenses he would have received...

I think that it is great that the neighbours realised that he actually needs help and that just sitting back and hoping the council or someone else will deal with it won't happen. I hope that it will help to strengthen their community spirit which I think is often missing in a lot of UK neighbourhoods. I'm going to watch this programme with interest when it's on because I honestly can't imagine having that much stuff!
