Does your child like to brush their teeth?

My baby loves to have her teeth brushed, even though she only has two. I think it is mostly because of the toothpaste! When I come in the room with the tooth brush she opens wide and says AHH. Yet I was talking to a friend who's baby is only 3 months older than mine. She said her son HATES brushing teeth so much that she has to practically wrestle him. She wants him to brush his teeth because she heard stories of kids who did get rotten teeth at an early age and obviously we both think it's an important habit to start with a baby. What about you? Does your child like brushing their teeth or hate it? What advice would you give to my friend about how to get her child to relax and let her brush his teeth?

My children all absolutely love brushing their teeth! They beg me all day long to get them brushed. Thank goodness because mine and their daddys teeth are bad so Im glad they like brushing. If your friends child is old enough to understand, let the child brush their teeth by themself and then let the mom do it. Sometimes it makes the child feel better and like a "big" kid.

I hope my baby keeps liking it like she does now! It sure is nice to have her cooperate after hearing other kids that won't let you do it. The kid that doesn't like it is only a little over 1, but that trick might work. Maybe if he gets to hold and investigate the toothbrush for awhile, he'll be more relaxed when she brushes his teeth.

I taught my daughter how to brush her teeth as early as two years old and now that she is five her teeth are all in good condition and I never had a hard time with her teaching a good oral hygiene. I think your friend should know the reason why her son hates brushing his teeth. Maybe he is having discomfort, pain or any unfavorable reason why. To wrestle and force a child to do a task they are not comfortable doing will just leave them a feeling of trauma. Maybe she needs to assess and observe why there is resistance on her child. Then from there she can make other way to encourage her son to practice good oral hygiene.

Hello I have two kids a son and daughter. My son is the oldest and he absolutely loves brushing his teeth, in fact he would do it all day if he could lol! My daughter on the other hand is another story. She hates having her teeth brushed I had to wrestle and fight with her in the morning & at night because she does not want to open her mouth and brush her teeth...i mean she screams and cries and sometimes I feel awful but it has to get done. I don't think its the toothpaste, because I have tried several and the toothbrush is the extra soft one for babies..I think she would rather skip that part of her daily routine all together. I would like some advice too because I am having the same issues...except girls have much more attitude! Good luck!
