I don't understand why the time seems to fly so fast when we grow up?

It is very interesting. When I was a child, I always found that the time went by so slowly. I had to wait for a long time to have the summer vacation. Now I grow up and it seems the time really passes so fast. It seems that yesterday my son was a baby but today he is already a school boy. Do you feel the same? How come we have such a strange feeling?

When we are young we don't have alot of responsibilities. As we grow older we have alot of them. This makes life go by faster. Because we have so much to take care of the days go by much faster. We have a strange feeling because it goes by and we wish we had done more or something differently.

Hello Youless,
Time fly so fast when we grow up as we have lots of responsibilities and time goes by easily in resolving daily problems but when are kid we don't have such problems and responsibilities so time passes by slowly.

My mom always said time flies when your having fun. I do agree my mom on that one. When your young life seems so long and it takes forever to do what you want but then when your an adult time as kid seemed so short and you didn't always get what you wanted to do some times. When we have kids we are focusing on them that every day just goes by really quick.

Time is so fast. I had also observed it. I do not know what are the reasons behind it. Maybe we are just too busy doing some kind of stuffs. I had wished also during my child days to grow up fast. But now, I want to go back in the past. I just want to become a playful kid.

I remember as a child looking forward all the time and wishing time away, especially when it came round to my birthday or Christmas! I couldn't wait, I would cross off the days and try to speed time up, now I am 40 and time is flying past, I can't believe another year is almost over and a new one upon us, it only seems like a while back we reached the big 2000! and now 2012, it is truly scary. I also remember when I came back home in 2007 it was only supposed to be a temporary arrangement, but here I am still in the same place, haven't moved on and 4 years have gone! It seems ages till I hit the big 4-0, now I am 40 I have 50 on the horizon and I just know before a blink of the eye it will be upon me! It is a strange feeling, but I guess as a child we do not really have the same concepts of time as an adult

Hi... Its not strange.. I'm sure everyone goes through this... I remember when I was a kid, I craved to grow up.. And the years wouldn't pass... Years, oh even days would pass so slowly... Now that I have grown up, an year passes so fast and I don't even know it had passed... LOL... Everyone experiences this... Moreover, I now crave to go back to my childhood times... :-)

Hi!
It is very true that time flies in a jiffy.
The time clock keeps ticking and we do not even realise it.
Time runs so fast that in our fast paced life we fail to take notice of it.
I also feel like you that few years ago I was a student and then entered into a job and then got married.
So many years of marriage have passed and children are growing up and we just do not realise it that we have come so far.
In this way we will complete the journey of our life.
Very Good post.

You are so right,my friend, you know, when we think about the things when we are young, we can remember lots of things and there are so many sweet memories. But when we think about things happened from 20-30, we can't remember too many things, It seems the childhood have so many good memories. While, as we age, the time fly so fast, and we can't remember how we spend those years.
Or maybe it is because as we get older, there are so many things, and make us stop to really enjoy the life, then we feel the time flies much faster.

The children are simple, there aren't too many things for them to think of ,apart from what they look forward to such as holiday, travel, etc. and they hope that day arrives soon, therefore they always feel the time goes on so slowly. As for the adult, they are so busy that the hours crept by before they know it.As a result, they often sigh with feeling "the day went so quickly."

That's so true! When I was a kid, I just wanted to grow up already and primary school seemed so long. I wanted to drive a car, I wanted to be like the big kids and have the things adults can have and do. Then when I grew up and entered high school, I just realized my reality and now I don't want to grow up anymore I'm in my senior year of high school and my major exams are coming up which will determine my fate in university and what career I will be doing. It's a really scary thought and I seriously don't want next year to come but I know it will come and even faster than before. The more busy and stressed out we become, the faster time flies. When we didn't have the care in the world as kids, we just took our time in everything and we didn't feel that time was that fast, going slow actually. But as adults, we have so much responsibility, so much tasks to be completed that we just want to rush the day and make it end. That's why time flies so fast like a blink of an eye. Next thing you know we will be elders.

I have exactly the same feeling with you, friend. When I was young, sometimes even an hour would seem to pass slowly, while now one day just passes in a flash.I used to discuss this phenomenon with my parents. And they told me that it was that I was free and didn't have much things to do when I was very young, while as I grew older,I got more and more engaed in all kinds of things to do,and I forgot the free time in my life,so time passed much faster than it used to.Now I've really believed this through many years' busy life. When we are busy with our work and study,we'll have almost no time to feel the time pass, and often when we finish our work and study sometime,we'll find that one or more days have passed, and then we would feel how time flies!

Indeed.
We never knew how time flies.
I use to wear old dress or I mean to look older than my age when I was younger.
Now, I want to dress more like a kid -hahaha- just kidding.
But yes, how and where did time flies.
My babies are not grown ups and I miss their toddler days :p

I like to look at this issue mathematically. When you were five years old 1 year was a whole fifth of your life! Of course it would feel like ages. However when you're thirty years old a year is only a thirtieth of your life- quite a small proportion and so it flies by!
Of course I think that no matter how fast or slow time goes the thing to remember is that every moment should be treasured and appreciated!

I do feel the same way. Time goes super fast now a days. I cannot believe my oldest is already 6! Christmas and all holidays are here before we know it. When I was younger it felt like Christmas took forever to get here.
I dont know why that is...

It's the part and parcel of everyone's life, we can't help it. In our childhood days we had nothing to do, we were free to do anything we want, there were no tensions of anything, we were like the free birds,so always had time. But as we grow our tensions grows, our responsiblities grow, and as such we have no time to enjoy our life. We are trapped by the thing called life.
