After I graduated from college 3 years ago, my first job was as a call center agent. We're conducting market research on behalf of UK's leading brands. Most of our time was spent over the phone and in front of the computer. After 3 months I resigned and look for another job. I applied as a Universal Banker in a multinational bank located near our place and I got hired. The job requires me to work outside the office to get new clients and new accounts. During our training, our trainer notice that I don't wear makeup, she said that as a Universal Banker I should be wearing makeup since I will be meeting clients outside. Since then I learned how to put makeup and I also realized that wearing makeup will add glow to your appearance and I should look good because I also represent the company. When I was a call center agent it doesn't matter if you put on make up or not. My previous job as a Universal Banker requires me to put on makeup everyday =)

At my job wearing makeup is not required, but it is a good idea to wear some. I work at customer service dealing with some very mean people everyday. They can and will insult your appearance so it's best to make sure you're looking presentable.

you work in customer service, and people actually insult your appearance, how incredibly rude.

A sad but true thing. If a customer gets angry for any reason whatsoever, they will insult you for everything you can imagine, down to minor aspects of appearance, and that is why I hate working in customer service.

I work now as a customer service specialist for a local bank and again during our training they keep on reminding us on the way we look, always put on makeup so that you won't look pale. I think if you work especially for a front line position you really need to look good. I don't wear heavy make up now, just a simple pressed powder, blush on and lipstick will do.

Hi Marra and welcome to my lot. I like wearing make up especially when I am in the public. I think it does add to your appearance. I can understand not wearing make up in a call center you don't have to meet anyone just your fellow workers. So are you happier wearing make up? Do you have a special reason why you didn't wear make up? Any way have a nice day!

Hi Marra. I have been wearing make up most of my life. The first thing I do is wash my face and scrub it down real good then put on some nice face lotion and wipe it in with a paper towel. It is easy to apply make up. When I put on my base I apply it and then take a paper towel and wipe my face to make sure it is on evenly. Then I apply a face powder to make sure it stays on all day. Then I take a paper towel and wipe my face again so it will make the stuff blend into the other make up. After I appy my eye shadow and my blush I wipe it too that makes it look more natural. Then I appy my eye liner and my lash make up and I am set for the day. After wearing make up all day though it is always wise to scrub your face and then put on a little lotion to keep your skin happy and healthy and looking young. It also helps to keep you from getting wrinkles. Don't know if any of this will help you but it helped me when I first started using make up. Good luck!

Hi free_man I don't wear make up before because honestly I don't know how to, hahaha. I am a simple type of person and applying baby powder on my face is enough when I was still a call center agent. But now I realized that I need to learn how to apply even a simple make up, it is also part of our personal grooming.

Thats a bummer. I stop the usage of makeup many years ago. I would certianly protest to a job that required me to use something i didnt believe in using. They should let you know when you applied for the job so you could deside if you wanted to accept it or not. I would not.

Do you ever have eyelashs fall out? I used to when i wore eye makeup. But since i stop they hardly ever do. Its a good thing you are ok with using makeup. Im just saying that they should have told you when you applied because what if they did that to someone who is against wearing makeup??? Then the person would have to leave the job. Since you say its required and its policy.

It will still be our decision if we are going to wear makeup on our job or not. In my case applied for that job with no idea that they will require me to wear make up everyday. It's our company's policy that their bankers should wear makeup, it's okay with me =). We have different opinion when it comes to this matter and I think whatever decision we made will benefit ourselves.

hi there marra18, with reference to your main topic discussion, wearing make up is somehow beautiful. as this thing will add glamour to your outlook. aside from that, you will look corporate as it brings glow to your face. just like what you have mentioned. however, please also take note that in everyday that you put your make-up, you must also wash and clean your face before bedtime, as this will somehow cause an skin irritation especially if your skin pigmentation is quite sensitive.

Hi, Actually there were times that I forgot to wash my face before I go to sleep because I am so tired. I just wash my face thoroughly when I wake up in the morning. I also notice that putting on make up everyday caused me some breakouts and it also made my skin dry. Now I am just using a moisturizer, pressed powder, blush on and lipstick to make me look fresh and presentable =)

Having to put make up on everyday kind of sucks for a job. But it all depends if you are a guy or a lady. Putting make up on if you are a lady is fine. For a guy, it would really really suck.

Is there a job that requires a guy to wear make up? Except for male celebrities and models =)?. Yeah for a lady it's fine and I think it's also fine for a guy if the compensation is really good =).

These things change as per the requirement Miss.. It is obvious that if you are gonna be out of the office for office then you must look cheerful and bright, to impress the client.. I work in a call centre too and I know it doesn't reuqire anything but good communicatin skills in English.. It is fun for me.. I love to talk with new people and my job allows me to do that almost all the time... :)

Working as a Universal Banker taught me not only on how to get new clients and new accounts but also on how to look good and present yourself well.

It seems you have experienced different kinds of job, and have some experiences in different scopes. I think the experience sure will give you advantages in your future. Though take make up everyday cost time, but knowing how to make up and how to make one more beautiful and confident is also very important. My job doesn't require me to have makeup. Well, it is a good thing, on the one hand, because i am a lazy bone, sometimes even find very few minutes to wash my face, lol. on the other hand, i don't know how to make up at all. Therefore, it is also a bad thing, i think.

Wow I seriously think thats terrible that at your job they require you to wear makeup. Some people look beautiful without it. Some people dont want to wear it and there is nothing wrong with that. I would have felt embarrassed if they told me I had to change how I look to make them happy. I can see having to dress a certain way but wearing makeup is a personal option no one should make you feel you have to wear it to do your job. I'm glad that you are enjoying wearing it but I just feel bad they pushed you into it. I wear makeup anytime I leave the house but if I didnt want to I wouldnt and if I had a job that told me I had to and I didnt want to I would tell them off and quit.

It's okay with me to put on make up. I was just surprised when they asked me to because I really don't know how to apply them properly, it is one of the requirement of some companies and I understand them now. I don't wear heavy make up, just a light make up will do =)

When I applied as a waitress in Pizza Hut in Hong Kong, they also required me to wear make up if I work for them but I did not work for them in the end because I have other job. However, I agree with your trainer that you should look smart while meeting your clients and make up can certainly helps you a lot to do that.

There were times that the way we look also affect the decision of the client in buying something from us or availing our service. Sad to hear but it's true.

Im lucky that my employer don't require me to wear a make up for my skin is really sensitive on it, so if it is possible that I don't wear make up, I really don't put on make up, and if ever I need to put a make up on some occasion, I just wear a very light make-up. I am really glad you enjoy putting on make up. I hope my skin is not this sensitive so I can put on make up more often.

You mentioned that you have a sensitive skin, I advised that If you want to apply some makeup you must try those that are hypoallergenic, It is suitable for sensitive skin. I also have sensitive skin that's why I only use make up that is hypoallergenic. I don't apply heavy make up while at work, just a light make up will do.

I am a teacher and am required to use makeup every day. I notice that if I do not wear makeup my students notice it and when they do I feel like I am not ready to work because something is lacking. There are times when I feel lazy to put on make up but I make sure I puff some powder and wear lipstick.

i am not into direct marketing but eventually i have to meet people. but i dont wear make up just becoz i have to meet people.if i am at home i dont put it at all.when i am going out i do because i feel good to see myself when i am wearing makeup.yes the amount or intensity of makeup certainly depends on when and where i am going.
