In England, it just seems far too mild to be christmas, so doesn't seem like it will be christmas in a day's time.
Does this mean that after christmas we are going ot have a very cold hard icy January??
We have hardly had our heating on yet, and when I went ot work this morning I didn't even need my gloves!! Scary biz as this time last year I'm sure we were wrapping up very warm??
What are you views on the weather for this time of year?

I agree that it is unusually warm. But we must remember that winter has just begun. We still have cold weather to come! I hope we don't get much snow. I don't like the snow!

My children also love the snow. It looks so pretty but then it gets so dirty and ugly. I help them build snowman just to get it over with so we can go back inside. I was born in summer so I just can not handle the cold!

The weather seems to be a little topsy turvey these days, it has been a lot cooler here in Australia than it usually is this time of the year, although it is heating up a little now, but I have had the heater on which is very unusual the times I have had it on...

Yeah, it’s just the opposite to us… in Georgia… it is still warm. Some days it is in the 70s here.. it gets cold at night, but warm when the sun is out.

Well, while we've only had a few days below freezing - about right for Texas - we have, thankfully, had one of the wettest Decembers in years. Oh, the drought is not over, the low lakes haven't filled, but we have grass growing where we did not have any all summer - and I told ya about the trees putting out flowers earlier this fall after some rain - very confused plants...

I prefer it to be warm, it was minus fifteen centigrade here last year, the ice was so hard that the blades on the snowploughs broke and I lost my water supply and heating for a couple of days when the pipes outside fractured in the ice, good thing I had some water stored in bottles. We still have three months of winter left so it could get very cold again but hopefully it will remain mild this time......

Well, I see everywhere is having warmer than normal weather lately, and it does make a lot of people wonder if this will last? I know growing up I have seen some worse January and February than any other month, and it is not Fun. I know I would Love to see a White Christmas here myself where I live, but unless a miracle happens in the next 24 hrs or so, it will be a Green one instead.

Hi Anne, I am in the UK too, in South Wales and it is very warm. Last year was a huge contrast with record-breaking snowfall and freezing conditions. It is not unknown in this part of the country to go from one winter to the next and see no snow at all. I have a feeling that we are going to do just that this year. Could be wrong, of course, but I will be quite happy to do without a big freeze... _Derek

It is hard to say what the weather will be like at or around Christmas. I like to have snow just at Christmas for the kids to play out in. Then as far as I am concerned we've had enough. I don't like black ice or rain when it is very cold. I can remember enjoying alot of snow when I was young but when I begain to drive I quit liking the snow fall.

Children always want it to snow, would be nice espically as now the children are older they can go out on there own and I can be a chicken and stay indoors!!!!
Used also to wish it would snow when I was a girl, but back then I didn't have the worry of wet floors indoors, wet clothes to sort out and very cold children, trying to warm them up!! Fun goes sometimes when you are a parent

I never drive in the snow or ice, they don't grit the side roads where we live so the road outside our house never gets gritted.
I never used ot bother about the cold weather, see above comment about standing out in snow etc.
Loved to take a sledge out when I was a girl, and have snowball fights and make snowmen etc.

Yes, I used to enjoy the snow this time of year too. We had a sled and took turns sleding all over the neighborhood. But now I just hate to drive it and scared of what is underneath with black ice and all. I get nervous too.

I know what you mean about the weather! It has been the same here. Very warm for the season. We have had short cold snaps but for the most part if there needed to be a jacket, it is a light one. It is normally very cold here by this time. Odd weather and does make me think that January might be ugly.

Our weather is different here in the States too. I live in Wisconsin and normally at this time of year we have several feet of snow already on the ground. We just got a light snow today and a bit the other day. I am not sure what we are going to be in for for winter this year. Hopefully it won't be that bad, but I have a feeling this is only the calm before the storm.

LOL, we got about a inch of snow yesterday, but by the end of today most of it has already melted. But, I am sure there will be more on the way.

Same here, and it's pretty odd!
I remember getting the first blast of snow in November, and after hearing and reading all the talk about this winter as being the worst, I bought myself a set of winter tires for my car. It was expensive!
And then a week after my new winter tires were on, it has been unusually warm eversince.
I'm not complaining about the weather not being too cold. It's just makes me feel wasteful after spending that money on tires, and not really able to use it.

Hi Anne,
I don't like very cold weather, (that's why I'm moving south next year) but it is very warm here too. It was 59f yesterday, and it's down to 34f here today, but no snow. I do like snow on Christmas, but alas, we will not have it here this year. Just for reference, it was 81f where I am moving to, this day.
Merry Christmas Anne!

Baby Bear??
I am not a fan of really hot either, but you can't do anything outside when it's 20f or less. At least you can shield yourself from heat, or at least wait till the sun fades a bit. I have decided that between the two extremes, I choose heat!
I've had my fill of salt-stained cars rusting away, frozen gutters, doors, windows, locks, just about anything outside. Snow is nice in the cold because it covers the otherwise barren, dreary landscape, but there is not all that much of it here most of the time.

Well, I'm from California, and we are kind of wimps when it comes to cold weather. We get used to it after a while, but we will put on the heat for a little while to make sure that we stay a little warm. Then again, you are talking to a woman who likes 100 degree F temperatures.

Hi Anne, weather has been going crazy for the past few years... This is the result of heavy interference by humans in the nature n its cycle... Very soon the weather cycle will shift 2 months ahead... E.g. Here June was supposed to be beginning of monsoon, but now it comes in July or August... This affects the crops, market and economy...
Hope it doesn't have a bad effect on us...

I think that it may get really chilly later on. Last year it was warmish for Christmas this year it is a little chillier where I am. It is only 1ºC or 2ºC at it's coldest but colder then last year which rarely went below 7ºC, what I have noticed is it does seem to be raining often whereas last year there was a time that they were already considering implementing up emergency plans to cut water consumption.
I hope the warm weather continues and that winter does not come back with a vengeance.
Merry Christmas.

The Clerk of Works where I work reckons that the months are slipping and that we will get December's westher in January and so on. It does seem too mild to be Christmas. Then again if we were in Australia we'd be on the beach in swimsuits! Have a merry one anyway and try not to tan too much!

It is too cold in Northern India. Almost all the states of northern India are experiencing freezing cold. The temperature has dropped down to 7°C. It's hard to move out of the bed. The worst is my feet never get warm. I wear so many woolen clothes like woolen socks, a warm cap, woolen knee caps, a pullover, but no... my feet never get cozy. In spite of wearing so many warmers my nail fingers turn blue. I don't really enjoy winters now.
