Hi everyone:
So this is Christmas! After nine days of waking up at the ungodly hour of three o'clock in the morning, it all comes to this: Christmas eve, December 24, 2011.
I have a few reflections these past few days as we await the coming of the saviour but one stands out from the rest, the happening of a natural calamity caused by a minor tropical strom "Sendong" just a stone's throw away from my beloved town where hundreds perished, including children and their parents. I wonder which is worst: to lose one's children or to lose one's parents. It all happened as Christmas is about to begin, nine days ago.
This time around, I can't celebrate Christmas with a straight conscience as long as the memory of that fateful night still remains in my mind. I may be not one of the victims but it doesn't mean I don't feel their pain.
So here I am, sitting all alone in the middle of nowhere, thinking how sad this particular Christmas can be, at least for those who continue to celebrate as if nothing has happened, well they deserve a little peace of mind. For me, I shall deal with this tragic occurrence for a bit longer more, finding whose blood is in whose hands, feeling the emptiness and sadness of those who survived the Christmas storm.
