How do you freeze cookies? And how to unfreeze?

I am making cookies for Christmas - most of them will be given out on Christmas and the next day. I want to save some for my friend but I won't see her until New Year's Eve. People tell me all the time that they freeze foods to save them for long times. I am a novice at this! We either eat it til it's gone or throw it away, never froze cookies before. So how do I freeze the cookies? And how can I unfreeze them so they are ready for my friend on NYE? How far in advance should I take them out of the freezer before giving to friend? Or can I just give them to her still partially frozen and she can warm them up? Thanks for all your help!!

Hi vivasuzi Merry chistmas ^^! I guess its better to freeze the cookie dough, just use a cling wrap and shape the dough into a fat sausage and wrap it and freeze them, you can also cover it with additional aluminum foil =). Too cook it just cut the sausage into 1/4 inch thick no need to thaw them just directly put them into a preheated oven, this kind of cookies are icebox cookies great for speedy and fuss free baking because you can prepare a day ahead.

Well too late because they are already baked. Plus the point of making them all now is I won't have time next week to make them, so just freezing cooked cookies.

I only freeze uncooked cookies. I freeze the dough and bake them the day I use them, or up to a week before. If they I baked, I keep them in a tin can. No need to freeze them for a month at least.
