If someone you know had an incurable disease and were suffering or they had no quality of life would you help them die, knowing you would be in the wrong for doing this? I think Mercy Killing/Euthanasia should be made legal, what do you think?

I wouldn't help them directly by giving them a fatal injection or shooting them or anything like that but I would talk to their doctors and see what they could do. I know a lot of doctors aide in mercy killings even in countries where it's illegal. One way is to give them sleeping pills and say "make sure you don't take more than 10 because that could kill you"... My family knows that if I ever become a vegetable in a hospital bed (couch potato not included), if there is no hope of recovery, I don't want to live. I think everyone in my family has the same view on that, we don't want our families to have to watch us like that. It might sound cold but I think it's best for everyone involved to let people die when there's no life left in them.

It really depends on the moral standards of where you would legalize euthanasia. In my country there is a huge debate about this because we are predominantly Christian.

Is it less of a sin to let someone you love suffer, I for one support mercy killing, I am a mother and I would not like to be a burden on my family. I would not want them to see me suffering, because then they are suffering, I think it depends on the people involved, each case is different.

In my childhood I was always ill ... in my 30's I was super fit .. and now I am super UNfit with all kinds of disabilities and life changing problems ... I'm not sure I would quite go as far as to say Euthanasia should become legal .. but I do think it's very cruel to keep people alive when they are in end stages of painful and debilitating illness ... It's illegal to let an animal suffer in this country .. yet it's illegal to end the terminal suffering of a human being .. I think if a 'living will' has been made to state that once all hope is gone then a merciful end should be sought .. those wishes should be given .. But it must be done prior to the illness and NOT just on the say so of relatives ...

Thank you for your response, it is humane to put an animal out of its misery but not a human, yet we are supposed to be more intelligent!

Yes, I support mercy killing, I would hate to be a burden on my family and I hate to see people suffering. But I think the decision should be left to the person concerned and their family, each case would have to be looked at separately, its a very fine line. Nobody should ever be kept alive by machines but who's to say that a cure for everything wont ever be found?

I am in favor of euthenasia but there should be very strict guidelines of verification that this person is terminal and that they lack quality of life. As well as verifying that that is exactly what they want. Without these guides in place there could be a very monstorous wrong perpetrated against the poor who are ill.

yes i think this is something which can e considered. it is better to kill a person rather than make him suffer with pains and also give probems to his relatives. becasue in this stage no one can stop the treatment and these type f thins are very costly.

In the court of God , i do not think this is allowed ., perhaps in the existing worl'd rulers law , as u said , under an exceptional circumstances this mercy killing is allowed. and me too personally feels the requirement of mercy killing in un avoidable and exceptional circusmtances

if the decision is left to the person concerned and their friends then yes, if it is left up to drs then no because they will only do it on the most cost effective criteria

i don't think that mercy killing or euthanasia should me made ligal..... firstly an incurable disease can be cured in future!!! i mean at the time the man is sick there maynot be a cure but may be avalible in future!!! we don't know about the future....... secondly it wil led to malprictise by some doctors......after all life is a gift of god.....we shouldnot take it!!!

Depending of your religion obviously, and I agree that doctors could use it to illegitamately, but personally I'd would respect someone who could put me out of my pain and suffering providing they weren't prosecuted. Thank you for your response.

I believe whole heartedly that mercy killing/ euthanasia should be made legal. If the immediate family consented to it, and it was legal, I do believe that I would be able to help someone die with dignity. If there is no quality of life, there really is no living. Great discussion.

i would so help them die because i think it would be harder sitting there watching them suffer. i would rather them be in a peaceful place then in pain anyday.
