When do you open your Christmas presents?

Do you open it immediately right after receiving it or do you wait for a special time before you open them all? I received a few gifts from people at the office and I did not open them until I came home. Well, except for the gift that was not wrapped. There was also this one gift which I had to open already right after it was given to me because it was during our Christmas party when we exchanged gifts and everybody wanted to open their Christmas presents immediately. Most of my godchildren also open their gifts when they get home and not right after I give it to them. But I have one godson who opens his gift immediately right after I give it to him. Talk about super excitement. How about you?

I have received gifts already and I opened them all. But I haven't received yet gifts from my aunts and uncles. Maybe tomorrow I will come and visit them in their house. I do open them directly to see what is inside. I don't wait for a certain time.

There is no certain time i should open the present or gift given to me. I want to see it right away and know what it is. This Christmas though i haven't received any gift yet from others. Its okay if i don't it is their presence that is important though i know i am not with them.

Even from a child we have only opened Christmas presents on Christmas morning, we weren't allowed to even see them until Christmas day. Into my teens it was still the same, presents could only be opened on Christmas day, any presents given before the day were put under the tree. Now into my 40s I still won't open a single present before the actual day. I do get up later now and it's quite comical my parents get up before me! I even save a few presents to open on Boxing Day. Even at work I will not open my presents, but I am not alone, some do, but it doesn't feel right and I like to wait.

Wow, that's some self-discipline you've got! I wouldn't be able to contain my excitement if I received gifts earlier than Christmas.

I guess I am like your excited Godson...I open them right away. We usually open a gift on Christmas Eve but it is hard for my b/f to wait. He wants to give me all my gifts the moment he gets them...lol. He is just as excited about giving them as I am opening them. He has been pretty good this year..he has only given me one so far I think he will be able to hold out until in the morning.

That sounds exciting, Jen. I can already imagine you while opening a gift and your bf excitedly waiting in one corner.

Opening Christmas presents/gifts depend on my mood. If I'm so excited at the moment I receive the gift and if I sense that the person giving it would like me to open it right away, then I open it as soon as I get it. But sometimes, there are just gifts that have to be opened privately for reason, that you want to maintain the feeling of excitement until you get home. Or maybe, the one who gave you the gift sent you a signal that he or she wants you to open it when you're already at home...away from the eyes of other people present in the occasion...

Yeah, there's that. I, myself sometimes tell the person I gave a gift to, to open the gift when they reached their home.

Like old tradition, giving and opening gifts after the Noche Buena, after eating during Christmas eve.But there are some gifts that opened immediately after receiving it especially when you already expecting and know what's the thing inside lol.

It's different with me, if I already know what's inside, I don't open it immediately.

Usually in our family we have everyone stay up, and we open presents as soon as midnight hits, because then its officially Christmas! But this year the kids fell asleep early for some reason, so when the adults finally got tired we decided to just take a nap before the kids woke up in the morning.

If they come in the mail and that person won't be there to see me open it....then I open it. Otherwise Christmas eve is someone is home...Christmas day otherwise. This year my daughter is home. We'll open gifts here tonight from each other..tomorrow at my sons we'll exchange gifts again. Merry Christmas friend!

It all depends on which party I'm at :) Christmas eve we celebrate it with my family and relatives, so we open the presents we receive that day. On Christmas day we celebrate the day with my wife's family and relatives and so we open that batch of presents that day at that party...

We don't bother to wrap them any more. We just go shopping together and decide who wants what and buy it for them, usually long before Christmas. We hate to wait. With children it is different, of course.

I will only open after christmas is over, because that's the time i reached home.. lol :D I prefer to open my presents in private rather than in front of the person because our expressions in seeing our gifts do give us away at times.. haha It's not nice for them to see our sad, shocked or unpleasant surprised look right? But it's our human instinct to feel and react that way even though we know we should appreciate what's given to us.. haha
