Did you meet your spouse on the internet?

I go to a lot of weddings. I won't bore you with why that is. The last 42 weddings I've attended have been from 2000 to 2010 when I retired. Out of those 42 matches 28 of them had met on the internet; in chatrooms mostly. These were in Alabama, Arkansas, and New Jersey.
This is by no means a balanced representative sample, but is this the trend?
Is the trend that most people getting married today met on the internet?

...by the way, of those 28 matches only one ended in divorce. It was a couple who were both in their early sixties. They split up in thirty days.

My stepfather and my biological mother met at a chatroom in MIRC in the 90's. They were both Filipinos working outside their homeland. They're still pretty knit together and I say I have never seen my mother this happy.

I am single and I would never try to meet anyone on line! I know it would be a disaster for me! I know I would end up meeting someone who would probaly rape me or try to scam me out of money! So I will never try online dating!
My sister found her second husband on line. They have been married a year but have been together 8 years. I had a friend who met her first husband on line and moved across the country to been with him! They did marry but after a few years she divorced him! My friend feel in love with a bum! Now she is married again to another guy she meet on the other side of the country! This woman has had really bad luck with men! If this works,I will be surprised!
So online dating can work with some people and not for others!

When I met my spouse I called her on a hand cranked phone screwed to the wall in the kitchen. Every time the phone rang a dozen neighbors eavesdropped, because it was a party line. If the kitchen clocked ran down and stopped, we called the operator for the correct time. We have been married 56 years, and we both have our own laptops!

I am not married yet. Hopefully soon when things are settled. I met my boyfriend in the internet through facebook. I added him and he approved my friend request. I didn't expect him to be my other half. By the time we met personally and we got to know each other, that I knew he is actually my school mate when I was in elementary. Now we are still together and getting stronger each day.

No I did not meet my current mate on the internet although I tried. I had such bad luck with the dates on the web that I stopped trying. Believe it or not, I met my mate on a city bus. We are just now starting our lives together.

Hi!
I did not find the match through internet. I found my spouse through a matrimonial coloumn in a reputed Newspaper. Now we are living happily with kids.

Wow so that would mean marriages over the net are somehow good. I am not married yet and am not actually looking forward to marry someone I'd meet on the Internet. I have nothing against them, but for me I don't want to take the risk. Maybe I am scared that I might pick the wrong guy.
I don't think it is the trend. I guess it's just that there are a lot of people now who developed friendship online and later fell in love with each other and end up marrying. I do hope for the best of couples who met online and decided to get married.
