I can't say if you would be able to buy it for less where you are, but here in the U.S. it is expensive. You could buy 500 GB for that. However, I notice some brands of external drives cost more, even though they are the same inside the case. Mybook, for instance is rather expensive for the size even though inside it will be a WD or Seagate. Maybe the software included or extra cooling might be the difference. Usually they come with automatic backup software or something like that.

Hi Ekoytyas,
First let me talk about your choice. You have chosen the right brand for your storage solution. I would either suggest Seagate or WD for anybody who wanted to buy an external hard drive. But I think you should have gone for a higher capacity so that you didn't have to think about buying an other one in near future. These day I see 500GB and 1TB hard disks very common.
Over here in India, 1TB external hard disk with external power supply will cost around Rs. 3500/- (i.e US$ 70) and the one with USB power supply will cost around Rs. 6000/-(US$ 110).
So now I think this information is good enough for you to decide your query.
Good day
Regards,
Narthan

You may have saved a few dollars shopping around but not a huge amount. Cheaper makes do not always have backup software included.
I like the software that comes with the Seagate drives. It works very simply and well.
As mentioned above, 250Gb is quite small by today's standards but enough space to back up most people's data. Not enough space, though, to make a partition and mirror your hard drive and also have the traditional three sequenced copies of your data - grandfather; father; son as it is called.
