Please don't shout at me!!!!.....

I have brought my first christmas gift for christmas 2012!!!
I know that is really very bad isn't it?
Its a gardening book for my father in laws partner, it was such a bargin that I just had to buy it and I know she will just love it.
I can't give it to her this year as I have already brought her gift and to give it ot her would mean I would have to buy everyone else another gift!! And I can't afford that!!
Please don't be cross with me!!
Dare I ask if anyone else has brought a gift ready for next year??

Ordinarily, I would have gone shopping today, on the day after Christmas and I might have picked up a few gifts that I would either end up using for Christmas next year or I would use for birthdays during the coming year. However, this year, I had some things that I had to get done today and that meant that I haven't made it to any of the stores yet. So, you are definitely one step ahead of me this year, but I won't shout at you because I'll be starting my Christmas and birthday shopping for 2012 soon.

Heavens no! Barely done with 2011 and you are on 2012 already. Gheesh girl! Cross with you? Why would I be cross? You are well into 2012. If anything I am jealous of you. You are so industrious and energetic. I am neither of these. I am not sure what I will get or when.

I might tomorrow. It's never too early to shop for Christmas. And if it's one sale or clearance, and you have the money for, then just go ahead and buy it because you may not get it and or find it ever again.
I am still kicking myself for not having bought "The Hunger Games" Calender and t-shirt when I had the chance.

The best time to get gifts for any holiday is pretty much right after Christmas.

I am thinking about going out for day after Christmas sales. I know there are great deals today. But my daughter's birthday is coming up so I need to save money for her party. I am probably just going to buy her some gifts. I am glad Christmas is over! I had to buy for 37 people lol

Yes she is going to have a wonderful birthday this year. We are going to do a cupcake party in her class. But I have a big surprise in store for her. I hired a magician to do a magIc show and balloon animals for an hour. She is going to be so happy. I cannot wait!

Well. My answer is no. You are very thoughtful that you already started thinking about Christmas 2012. I'm book lover. I can say that my partner this year gave me very very nice gift: Mastercook kitchen bible. That book is amazing. I'm interested with cooking and baking and always try to perfect my skills.

no, but I only "bought" one gift this year, and I still made it, just got the parts to make a bracelet for the roomie's mom. It was a charm bracelet with birthstone crystals for her, her husband, her 3 children, her 5 grandchildren and her 4 great grand children.

I congratulate you! This year I have not yet bought any advance Christmas things, but truly this is the time of year to start and usually I would have by now. Yes, and I had better get busy and take advantage of the after Christmas card sales in order to have cards to address in July for sending next December. You are a thoughtful friend to people and a smart shopper too!

I say you go girl! I used to buy things starting in July! But now..hey have it on hand, maybe there'll be a reason you need another gift for this lady and you'll be all set! Only thing is..will she still be interested in this item/book this time next year? Will she find it and buy it for herself? Maybe decide which of the two gifts to give this year..and maybe the one you already have can be saved better for next year ...or usable for someone else during the year for a birthday or something. I have no problem buying while on sale nad holding till needed! You just have to watch that the person will want it in the future. ITs really hard with kids..if you buy in the summer to hold for christmas...good chance by then..they will have moved on and not want that anymore and want something else!
I intend to be at stores on Monday to buy the christmas decoration sale items and have them for next year! I do that after most every holiday! Just smart thinking!

Sounds like you have it under control then! I happen to think buying like that is a g reat way to not only save money, but time and frustration! Just make sure you put it somewhere where you'll remember it next year and not forget that you got it or where it is! I bought some christmas decorations for next year...gift tags and the like. But am going back on Monday...things are 50% off now, but will be 75% come monday and I can pretty much make something out of anything they have! Kind of looking forward to it!

No Ididn't need another gift for this year, yes she will be into her garden next year as she has gardened for many many years and is also very keen to learn new things to od with the garden. No she won't buy it as it came out of the discount book shop and I know she doesn't shop in shops like that, so its totally safe, thats one of the reasons I brought it.
I never buy for at least my children until you really have to, mainly because they keep changing there minds what they want, espically when they are young.
Hope you had a very good time at the stores and got everything you wanted

I have not bought a Christmas gift yet for 2012. I have not even celebrated my Christmas yet! I will be on saturday. I usually don't think about what I will buy for gifts in November! You are the not the first or last person to do this! Lots of people do it or try to on the sales after Christmas!

Why would anyone yell at you. If you could find something for someone for next year then why not pick it up now. In this day and age, you don't know if they will have exactly what you found next year. I like to pick things up throughout the year if I find something we would like to get someone. There is nothing wrong with that.
I am sure she will love the gift when she gets it.

I know where you are coming from, its safe in the present box, wrapped in a plastic bag to keep it clean until I need to wrap it up next December. But you do have to get these things when you see them and have the money to buy as well. I have never been this early in buying a gift, but what the heck!

I hear ya. If one does not put it in a place that they would remember to look into, they would forget that they purchased it. Yes one definitely needs to have the money at the time also to be able to purchase the item.
Good for you. There is nothing wrong in purchasing a Christmas gift for the following year.
Think about it, those that craft, knit or crochet, etc., they have to get started early also in order to get all of their gifts done for the next Christmas.

I don't think there is anything wrong with that. Actually, I prefer a little shopping just after Christmas (boxing day, boxing week), as most prices come down. I get most of my next year's decorations now so I can avail of the bargain too. And if there was a gift that could be bought, provided it doesn't go bad, then I would surely buy it too!

No one will yell at you!!
What a good thing for you to hear that you already have next year gift! I will say go for it and if you find gifts for others you can buy them as well so that you don't have to think about it anymore next year. I am sure many will agree for you to have them as early as possible.
Anyway, Merry Christmas to you!

Thank you for not yelling at me, it was just a figure of speech as I thought people may think I was mad buying so early, I thought I was a little mad as I have never brought a christmas gift for the next year so early. I think the earlist I have ever brought a gift is at around Easter time.
Hope you had a very good christmas

You're the one who's shouting honey.
Anyway, why can't you give it to her this year? I think it's just okay, and there is no rule that says you have to give everyone the same number of gifts.
But my question is, how could you gotten close with your father-in-laws partner? That's weird.
Anyway, how about her birthday then? Or another special day?

I didn't want people to think that I was showing off! I don't normally buy this early but couldn't miss such a bargin.
I always give the same amount of gifts to each person and spend roughly the same amount of money on each person as well. So it would look like i was favouring her, which I wasn't. Hence saving it for next year.
My father in law's partner is a bit like being my mother in law, and I don't have a mother in law, so nothing weird about that.
No I shall save it for her christmas gift as it costs more than I would/spend on her birthday

I didn't like to be shouted as well. I hate people shouting at me moreover I never liked shouting at them as well. I wouldn't be bothered being shouted If I was wrong. You knew what I was doing and never meant to be rude to tell people that I didn't like being shouted, because I always knew I was in place that I should be exactly supposed to be.

Also I didn't really want my friends ot think I was boasting, I just wanted ot share my good luck with everyone

If you think you have got a good gift for someone you love, in this case, your mother,I think it is the best to present to her now as a gift, not for Christmas nor New Year, just as a gift from a daughter-in-law to a mother-in-law. What you want to see and get from giving the gift to your mother-in-law is the smile on her face. If I were her I would be very very happy to get a gift not for any occasions but for the thoughts that someone has had for me.

Its not too much to give another gift to someone specially if you know she'll love it! Others will just be contented with whatever you are going to give, those are gifts, more or less they'll appreciate it. Why wait? No one knows what will happen next so better give it this year.

thats sounds very good that you have plans for the future, that signifies that you are well organised for the things in life. but do one thing for that book give the books to that one who is required, because no one know, tomorror the needs remains the same, may be the good use of book is now.
