Today's Sunday and Christmas too. No way anyone will be at work. Last two weeks have been hectic with "Year end closing" activities. I thought I would take advantage of the day with a little bit of grooming. So, there I was at the barber shop, nothing remarkable till now.
I had my hair cut and then was all lathered up for a shave, all relaxed and content. Just as the barber took the first pass with a rather sharp razor, the assistant dropped a bottle of after shave. The barber went into a rage. This was to be expected, and so was the loud and long reprimand that followed. The barber, as emotional people go, swayed and jerked, as the occasion demanded, liberally spewing spit as much as a mouth full of tobacco could manage to generate.
Here I was, with his one hand gripping my hair and his other hand with a razor to my neck, shaking like a rag doll at every burst of emotion, gripping the arms of the chair I was in, terrified to the bottom of my wit, actively anticipating end of life as I knew it, and to add insult to the injury, with a sound and water show in my ear.The only consolation was however, is that I now know for sure that our past does flash in front of our eyes at the gory end of our lives.
Once he had cooled down, the emotion turned onto seething anger, and he gave me the "works". Being too scared to do anything else, I just got out at the first opportunity I got, which was his out stretched hand for money. I really don't know how much I paid, nor do I care, I have better priorities than to have a tracheotomy from a barber.
Hey! do you guy's have any home remedy for a red, raw and smarting face?

Yes, our lives are always fragile. I think that is the reason why life assurance and personal accident insurance sellers are doing very well as more people are realizing that their continued delicate existence in this planet is subject to a lot of unexpected or seemingly weird factors. A shaver in a barber shop, for a loss of a bottle of after shave, could have made the decision for someone lucky (or unlucky) enough to rest early in peace for life. The lesson we learn here is: Use battery operated shaver. It is safe and it is handy. Most importantly, you will get to see the next day's sun rise if you ever set foot in a barber shop again.

Wow, that is really a scary experienced you just have. And in the hands of a short short-tempered barber holding a sharp razor just near your neck.
Yeah, because of the barber's bursting anger, he could accidentally cut cut you. I think, you must be careful next time choosing your barber. Pick the one who does not jerk or sway on any distraction.
