this song became number 1 in the Filipino charts in many radio stations for months during 1995, it became so popular its i overplayed and over requested at many radio station. I was a little kid when it came popular. The song is titled "five years" its sang by a Filipino rockband named "sugar hiccups" I remember my brother and sister have a fight because of this song. My sister thinks its non sense because its all humming, as in no lyrics, the singer is just humming emotionally. It does have 1 line and the line is: "he is not gonna be back" I think this song is actually used as a soundtrack of 1 hollywood movie. If you havent heard this song before, this is the song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vvq67iXPpkM&feature=related After listening to this song why do you think it became popular despite of its lack of lyrics.

I got hooked to this song just a few years ago when I heard it from a colleague in the office. This song is just powerful and at the same time relaxing to the mind and I can't help myself but to play it over and over again. Kudos for the band for coming up with a song like this. Would love to see the original video for this if it has one. Anyone that can point me to a site?

Maybe that explains why I can't find an official video for this no matter how hard I try. The ones I can see I think are made by film students. Hope they decide to create one once they read this thread :)

Hi CaptAlbertWhisker! I have never heard of this song before, and to think that it came during my era, 1995, maybe I'm just too biased to the alternative and rock music back then. Since this music was used in short film video, you will appreciate it more if you'll hear it together with the video, not just by listening to it like an ordinary song. Here you could relayed to the interaction of the humming sound together with what was happening in the video, particularly the high and low melody of the sound (taking you to the climax of the story). Well thank you for this alternative and different type of music. Have a nice day!

The sound of this band reminds of the current Indie symphonic metal actsthat europe have now. The band did have songs with lyrics, though this song is their most memorable one cos of its lacking in lyrics. It relied more in the emotions of the vocals to tell a story. I heard many radio stations were hesistant to play this song at first,

and its the number one filipino song in 1995, I think the lack of lyrics is but it has a story based on the emotions of the singer. Have you noticed the music video is scary? Oh I forgot, it became a soundtrack of a Hollywood movie...LOL despite of pure humming and1 line, this song makes more sense than the modern song lyrics we have nowadays.

Thanks for sharing Capt- and the video compliments with the melody - yah, melody since there's no lyrics...can't call this one a song.

I think think the band became famous the same time with eraser heads, they focused more on radio than television thats why they were not as memorable than eheads. the only story this music video have is the domestic violence in the music video.

speaking of lack of lyrics, I just found out "latika's theme" the instrumental love theme of Slumdog Millionaire, have a lyrics version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dS2ds4gRiM4&feature=related

I am a three year older than the band and I must confess that I don't have any idea about their songs, sorry. Do they still exist? Are they still active in our Music Industry?
