My laptop is very important for me. It truly means a lot me. I make my projects and activities through it. With out my laptop also, I cannot browse mylot, Facebook, etc.
Presently, some of my laptop keys are broken. I have no idea how to fix it. Someone said that it needs replacement. The replacement for it is 75$. Oh, my! 75$, is it true? At the moment, I am only using an external keyboard. External keyboard cost cheap only. But, it is very hard because I need a huge space to use my laptop. I do hope I could fix it soon.

What this all depends on is how are your keys broken. Do they not register your typing? Or is it that you are missing the plastic part that you push when typing? Or even the rubber sensor that is under the plastic part? On my last laptop I ended up with a few keys where I was touching the sensors themselves to type while I waited for my new laptop to come in. There are ways around problems with the keyboard, it all depends on what the problems are.
Beyond that though, far as the actual cost, it depends on what you have. If you have a warranty on your computer, call in and see if they offer free keyboard replacement. On my last laptop when I had problems I would call in, they'd send me a box and I would send my laptop off to be worked on. Typically I got my keyboard fixed and sometimes my screen depending on if they broke it while trying to work on my computer.
If you don't have a warranty though I would suggest finding a way to type with the broken keyboard. If you can't, then there may be a way you can turn your laptops keyboard off and set your external one on top of it so it wouldn't take as much room.
Hope you get things situated! Laptops not working for any reason can be such a pain!

Oh, yes! It is a pain for me. But, I think i will just save for now. I will let an expert fix this as soon as I have enough money. My external keyboard is really so huge. I am still finding some ways to fit it on the table.

yes it does cost a lot. may be you need to buy a new laptop... some months ago i wanted to buy a battery for my laptop but it cost around $229... so i am saving for a new laptop right now... buying individual and fixing laptops are very expensive that's why they always say it's better to buy a new one after you break them.

I am sorry to hear that. In the past the DVD-ROM didn't work in my laptop. Although I could buy an external DVD-ROM and it was cheaper. But it was inconvenient to bring it. Therefore, finally I decided to buy the right DVD-ROM for my laptop and it cost much more money. If your laptop still works fine except for the broken laptop keyboard, I suggest you fix it. You don't want to bring one more external laptop keyboard, right? I know $75 is expensive, perhaps you can find another place which will charge you less money?
I love China

You are actually already doing what I would suggest to do so that you could still use your laptop while the keyboard on it is not working. However, as far as getting it fixed goes, I would first check around with some of your friends and see if any of them know how to clean the keyboard of a laptop because that might be all that it needs. If that doesn't work, then I'm afraid that you will have to have it replaced and that will cost a fair amount of money.

Hi Kaichoukebz, i agree that $75 is not a small amount of money but however, you have to spend the money since you said that your laptop is very important for you.
My advice is you can still use external keyboard first, at the same time, you have to save some money for your laptop. Try do some parttime job since now is christmas and new year celebration.

No, replacement cost for laptop key is not of 75$. I know a key replacement company that sells laptop keys at just $4.95.

Hmmm.. I'm wondering how you broke your laptop keyboard? I never heard of anyone who got their laptop keyboard broken before. Perhaps it's wear and tear over the years of use?
Anyhow, I think it's indeed true that it costs that much because laptops are meant to be built intact. Perhaps it simply means that it's time for you to buy a new one.
For now, you could buy those external laptop keyboards (looks like a laptop keyboar), I use one for my pc and it's more comfortable as compared to the usual desktop keyboards.
Have a great MyLot experience ahead!

I have not yet understand the concept when a computer called "laptop" is fixed or portable device (notebook or netbook). In the second case, you can probably replace the keyboard, because I know in my (Acer Aspire One D255) exists on the internet on a guide to disassemble the keyboard.
As for the costs they do not know. Of course, a technician who puts his hand on a computer, something has to get paid.

hello,
sorry for that, why do you think it got broken? do you press to hard or does the laptop is too old. I hope you can earn enough to fix your laptop because it is expensive. Maybe you should buy something new or you can use the cheap one if you not yet afford it. Good luck to you!

Yup laptops nowadays are so important so we must be very careful in using it. Did you took it to a computer shop already? and that's the cost they gave you? I am having some issues as well with my laptop lately... it's the strange noise somehow it disappeared now. But sometimes I am thinking that there is also a problem on the keys particularly the scroll keys.
Anyway, I do hope you can have it fixed so you won't be using external keyboards anymore.

If your Laptop is of Sony Vaio it will really cost you too much. My friend had also faced the same problem but he sold his laptop and didn't change its keyboard.
